He did a wonderful job. Doesn't have the flashy rooms or imaging software that some other doctors have but he really knows noses. My breathing has improved, I can sleep on either side and everything looks great. I had been apprehensive about not going to an ENT surgeon for the breathing issues so I consulted with two ENT surgeons who both recommended more complex, risky and expensive procedures. Dr O'Keeffe was able fix all my breathing problems with a septum adjustment and turbinate reduction on one side. I wouldn't go to anyone else.
Super easy process. You can expect wonderful old fashioned service with a smile from Dr. O’Keeffe and his team with modern technique. An in-depth consultation made me feel very comfortable and, having seen Dr O’Keeffe’s lip lift work previously in person, I already felt safe in his hands. Procedure was very simple. It took about 40 mins under local anaesthetic and I was able to chat during this time...I felt no pain and was stitched up and sent on my way with some pain medication. I didn’t take the pain medication; I only needed some Panadol that night and the next day. It felt like a paper cut. There was a little bit of blood And swelling the first two days but after that I was able to return to work. I just needed to be careful not to stretch or create tension on the area while brushing teeth, taking bites from food and of course everyone wants to crack a joke at this time and make you laugh. Best to avoid this! Stitches were removed on day 6 and a few drops of glue were placed in the area which made it feel much more comfortable and secure. I only wish I did this sooner! The lip flip with Botox would not shorten the distance between my nose and lip post rhinoplasty (where the angle of my nasal tip was improved) and filler just made the lip hang lower. I also tried thread lift and an over lined lip tattoo which helped reduce the distance but only by about 1-2 mm out of 20. Centrally I’m now 10mm with a 50% reduction! The incision Dr. O’Keeffe made preserves the nostrils and although it’s red in the early stages (which is normal) I’m confident this scar will almost completely fade overtime. Highly recommend! Updated on 26 Mar 2020: First time with a red lip - I couldn’t wear red lippy before! I had my makeup done and took some photos. I am not even a year post op. It’s very comfortable now. Wish We went a little shorter! Hope everyone is staying safe xxx Updated on 31 Mar 2020: Update on scar. It’s basically the capillaries that bother me I had some laser at The Manse in Paddington to remove them which worked well but the follow up/next session, which was 3 weeks after the first, was cancelled due to COVID-19 closures so I’ll revisit work on this once everything is open again. I don’t really wear makeup! It’s not a bad scar at all! I’ll post a photo of it it’s more the red capillaries! Excuse my skin it’s breaking out at the moment From my sunscreen Updated on 27 Aug 2020: Just wanted to post a photo of the scar healing for reference as a lot of you are mostly concerned about this. I usually scar very badly so i’m sure most of you would heal a lot better than me but i’m very, very happy how it’s turned out. My skin needs a good laser treatment all over to even out skin tone
I've had two Rhinoplasty's with Dr O'Keeffe. The first was about 8 years ago and then the second was a year after that. He uses closed technique. I had a large nose but the tip was good so he didn't operate on the tip. The side profile is perfect but I'm not entirely happy with it as the front view is not straight and I feel like too much of my nostrils show and it's too wide at the base especially when I smile. I also have difficulty breathing which I didn't have as bad before and feel like the left hand side is collapsed slightly although I've had consults with other surgeons who say they can't see that although I can see it and I can hear it when I breathe through that Side of my nose so it might be from the bone structure being moved. I used to have a crazy sense of smell and now that has dulled which I actually don't mind too much but to me that just proves there's something not quite right internally. Because of this crookedness I got a second one done with him which he just did in the chair in his rooms and I think it cost like $400. It was an improvement and made my nose more refined at the front. I'm contemplating getting a Revision with another surgeon however to make it straight and reduce the nostril and wide base especially when I smile. I'm also hoping to fix my breathing. However the nose I have now is way better than what my real nose was and I don't regret having the surgery. I think if I did it again I might try another surgeon with an open technique which might have produced a slightly better result. But I definitely wouldn't write Dr O'Keeffe off if you want a closed Rhinoplasty and affordable option for someone who won't completely botch your job. I made a friend in the recovery room and she went back for a Revision with him also but it was because she wanted a more refined tip. I think tips are hard to do with the closed technique but don't quote me. He definitely will give you a natural result and won't have that operated look and it will still look like you which I think is important.
So my nose was something that I wasn’t very happy with and although it wasn’t horrible it was always something I wanted to improve. As well as not being happy with the appearance of it, it was causing me breathing issues as I had a deviated septum, a spur of bone at the back of my nasal passage and because of the width my nose I wasnt getting enough air flow through and would get congested quite often. I decided to get rhinoplasty with a septoplasty to correct my breathing issues as well as reduce the hump on my bridge and elevate and define the tip of my nose. Surgery Day: Arrived at the hospital early and checked in. Was waiting around for a couple hours until I was wheeled into the pre/post op room. After waiting around 15 mins I was wheeled into the surgery room and the theatre staff began prepping me and asking me various questions. A cannula was placed into my hand and very soon after the anaesthesia knocked me out. Next thing I know im waking up in the pre/post op room feeling like I had a great sleep and was in minimal pain. My mouth was really dry though and i was starving so they gave me an icy pole. I also had bandages over my eyes for the next couple of hours to reduce swelling. Not long after I was wheeled back to my hospital room and just listened to the TV. I started to be in pain so they gave me Panadeine Forte but I found this didn’t relieve the pain much. Instead it made me feel really warm and a bit uneasy in the stomach. A couple hours later I got the bandages off my eyes which were pretty bruised and swollen. Later in the night I was given a different pain medication called Tramadol but that barely relieved the pain either. It was about 1.30am in the night and I was so exhausted, sore and couldnt sleep so just ended up breaking into tears. One of my inner ears was in a lot of pain as well which I think was due to the pressure of the packs in my nose. Eventually I was able to get to sleep but I woke up a couple times during the night. Day 1: I was woken up early by the nurses and complained about how none of the pain medications were working so I was prescribed Endone and Panadol which worked amazingly. As I have such pale caucasion skin I tend to bruise easily and my eyes were so purple and swollen. Everyone who came into my room commented on my eyes so I was constantly resting cold pads onto them for relief. The whole day I just watched TV but barely anything good was on during the day. At night I felt quite nauseous and was sick about 5 times but after that I was fine and just fell asleep. I had a hard time sleeping on by back though as I usually sleep on my side. Day 2: I was in even more pain than yesterday. My eyes were almost swollen shut and tearing, my gums and teeth hurt, my cheeks were swollen, I had a headache and my lips were super dry. Not long after I woke up the nurse pulled out my nasal packs which provided a bit of relief. Around 10.30am I was discharged from the hospital but I couldnt stop crying from how much pain I was in due to the swelling around my eyes so I ended up going around to the surgeons clinic and got anaesthesia injected around my eyes to relieve the pain. He told me I was in the minority for people who swell this much. This was probably my worst day. Day 3-7: Things started getting better from day 3. I was still in pain if I didnt take medication but by day 5 I was able to decrease the amount I took. At first I looked like a panda as I had purple bruising around my eyes and chubby cheeks from the swelling but it lessened each day. I had a small nosebleed on day 6 which was a bit painful but it didn't last long. My appetite had gone down a lot as well. Day 8: I got my cast off. There was still yellow and some purple bruising around my eyes and nose. Nose was very swollen too as expected but I could see the shape and was very happy with the results plus breathing through my nose was so much easier. The surgeon told me when he operated he found a large spur of bone at the very back of my nasal passage caused by trauma which was obstructing my airways. I also still had pain from the swelling but it was minimal and only required mild painkillers for relief. I did have a bit of a rough recovery but it was so worth it and I would do it again. Rhinoplasty is something that you have to be very patient with as the swelling takes a long time to go down but I am very happy with the results.
I have had two surgeries by dr okeefe. One was to fix the tip of my nose which he did in the chair to make my ode not so baulbus and then a year later to make my nose smaller. Both procedures went well but on my second operation, my nose is a little off centre which you can tell in photos. I have decided not to get it revised, I am happy with the size of my nose but that it is off centre is a tad disappointing. I was told when mentioned it that it was due to swelling and it will correct itself. Well, it is a year later and still waiting....
I was not happy with Dr. Paul Okeeffe. My nose started to droop a few years after surgery so I went back to let him know I was unhappy. We discussed a few things which needed correcting. I ended up doing the surgery in his 'in house' surgery in his offices in Brookvale. I was awake when he performed the surgery. After this I noticed he did not do something that we had discussed. He said he 'forgot' I went in for my third surgery with him and was left botched an unhappy with one nostril higher than the other and a droopy nose. After years of deciding what to do and saving up I went for a fourth operation with a different surgeon who is well known and prices are through the roof but I didn't care- I just wanted my nose fixed before my wedding. I am very happy with my nose now and would not go back to DR. Okeeffe or recommend him.I shouldn't have gone back for the revision, I should have sourced another surgeon straight away. Please do your research for anyone considering rhinoplasty.
Dr Paul O'Keeffe didn't perform what he said he would and left me with a very ugly nose (a dent on one side, a bump on the other, wider nose, too curvy, my nose was a mess!! my family and I were extremely sad about my results), breathing was not good and I was depressed for more than a year looking at my botched nose everyday! Refused to refund me what he charged me for and did not do/poorly performed. When I sent an email kindly asking to be refunded what he did not perform this is what I got as a reply "You are making a threat to defame Dr O’Keeffe. He is handing this matter to his legal advisor."I had to get a revision rhinoplasty with another surgeon overseas that lasted 8 hours with rib cartilage and of course pay a lot due to Dr O'Keeffe damages!! My revision with a skilled and true surgeon saved my face and mental health!I had to get a surgery consultant to pick the right surgeon for me, travel overseas, spend 20k on a revision and go through all the discomfort and pain again! Avoid this surgeon at all cost. Updated on 4 Aug 2020: I am now 6 months post op for my revision. Because Dr Paul O'Keeffe went so aggressively and botched my nose, my talented surgeon had to use rib cartilage to correct the deformity. I am so happy with my results and can not thanks enough my surgeon overseas!! This is exactly what I wanted, a small and cute nose. He was surprised by Paul O'keeffe '"methods" of "bone graft" and what he done to my nose. Updated on 27 Aug 2020: I just thought I’d share more photos of my nose after 1.5 post op, I took them before my revision rhinoplasty done by a different surgeon( Dr Enrico Robotti from Italy). As you can see my nose was completely destroyed, with a dent and a bump, wide and big Updated on 27 Aug 2020: Here is my nose now! I wanted to say, rhinoplasty is not a joke, and not every surgeon can deliver your dream nose even if they want you to believe that they can (just like Paul O’Keefe did). Not every surgeon with experience is a good surgeon, some are just OUTDATED, using old techniques that are not only creating more swelling after surgery but would leave you with a not so OK noses. And once they botched your nose don’t count on them for taking responsibility or helping. I highly recommend doing a lot of research, picking a highly experienced rhinoplasty surgeon that uses modern techniques, that shares his work online, is a teacher for other surgeons ...or else your nose can result in a total disaster that is going to COST A LOT OF MONEY to fix (revision are more expensive than primary rhinoplasty due to the complexity, I paid 20000 AUD) and make you depressed. This was my mistake and wouldn’t wish even to my worst enemy to go through a botched surgery. I am now happy with my revision rhinoplasty by Dr Enrico Robotti.
