Dr Kwon and the team were great - they made the experience as effortless and smooth as possible. This was fantastic, especially for someone flying in from overseas for the procedure and didn't speak the local language. Rosa was also amazing in her coordination efforts and communication - she was crucial in the process for a customer to feel comfortable and relaxed. I'm on day 9 post-op, and its encouraging so far. Looking forward to the future hair re-growth and the outcome of the procedure. Updated on 22 Apr 2025: Today was the first day of shampoo the donor and recipient area as normal to begin removing the scabs. The scalp still felt numb, as advised by the ForHair (FH) team. Shedding of the scabs began - the clinic advised that its progressing as expected and all is normal. The recipient area is slightly pink but again, as expected. It's worth noting that everything has progressed as Dr Kwon, Rosa, and the team advised it would - so there have been no surprises so far! This is in-line with my experience with the FH team from the start, who have made things easy. This includes being seated upright and watching Netflix/TV/surgical screen during both harvesting and implantation, which not only made the time pass quickly, but also means the grafts minimise the time outside the scalp. Updated on 10 May 2025: One month on, the process has progressed as expected. The transplanted hairs have begun to fall out as advised, and the condition of the recipient areas is normal. Redness of the recipient area, whilst visible, isn't as bad as I thought it could be which is great. Dr Kwon and his team advised that baby hairs will begin to grow around the 3-4 month mark, so now it's about being patient for the results to come!
My experience with dr Kwon and the team at ForHair was top tier. The communication in the early stages was great, they were always thorough with their replies and it was very simple to organise the operation through email. The surgery itself was surprisingly pain free and it showcased the doctor’s and staff’s efficiency and skill. The facilities were clean and the hours flew by watching Netflix. It’s been two weeks and everything is progressing as planned. Thank you to dr Kwon, I can’t wait to see the full results in the coming months. Updated on 20 Mar 2025: Here are some before and immediately after photos. The recipient and donor area were shaved. The donor region was not visible after surgery with my hair down or in a pony tail. Also the recipient area was hidden easily under face framing layers.
I was handled by Miss Rosa (patient manager). She thoroughly explained what I needed to know and gave me my treatment plan. My doctor is Dr. Kwon. He is the senior doctor. Miss Rosa translates all explanations. I didn't have any communication difficulties. On surgery day, I was quite nervous. However, to my surprise, I was quite calm during the hair transplant process. The only discomfort was when the local anesthetic was injected. Dr.Kwon and the nurses worked professionally. I was surrounded by 3-4 nurses, they all had their own tasks. I felt safe to be surrounded by this professional team. The whole surgery process took 3-4 hours. the next day, I had my bandage removed and my hair washed. Today is already 2 weeks after the surgery. Everything is normal at this stage. Hope the hair transplant will meet my expectation. Thank you, Dr. Kwon and team. Updated on 4 Apr 2025: Here's my transplant update after a month. The transplanted hair is starting to shed already, which is expected. The new hair will grow in 3 to 4 months. The scalp on the recipient area turns a bit pink, and I was told that it will gradually return to normal color in a few months. The wounds on the donor side are already healed. I feel an itchiness, but not severe. The shaved hair has already grown. The recipient area is a bit numb, but I don't feel any discomfort. Everything looks normal (as expected) at this stage. Will update again in 3 months
To start, I’m a 38 y/o Asian me from the U.S. My hair was starting to thin in my late twenties and my hair loss became more noticeable starting in my late thirties. I’ve done some research online and came to find ForHair in Seoul South Korea. I’ve contacted them through their website and their response was prompt, welcoming and professional. When I got to their office in South Korea the atmosphere was welcoming and I felt comfortable. I’ve been communicating with Rosa prior to my appointment and was able to meet her when I arrived there. She went through the process with me again and described what to expect on surgery day and afterwards. As I went through the procedure it was exactly as described on the website. I felt comfortable during the whole procedure and felt no pain at all. The most uncomfortable part I felt was sitting in the position for so long but easily overcame it by watching tv. I felt no pain or discomfort after the procedure. The only annoyance was trying to sleep a certain position so I don’t touch the recipient area. I’ve attached photos of right after the surgery and 14 days later.
I am half Korean and half white American. I have thin blackish brownish reddish hair. My hair started to get thin and started falling out in my early 30s and I wanted to restore my hair. After some research and having family help me look around, we stumbled across Dr. Kwon. I first talked to Rosa and set up a consultation. I feel like you could really trust them as they first said that I wasn’t a good candidate for FUE treatment based on pictures alone. After the in house consultation, they told me that it was possible and what I should and shouldn’t expect. After some thought, I decided that it was worth it and went ahead with the treatment. The treatment was long (about 6 hours). They first shaved my entire head (cheapest option they provided and I felt like it would be easiest for them to get the desired look that I wanted) then numbed the areas that they worked on. This was probably the most painful but only lasted a few minutes at most. They allowed me to watch Netflix while they worked so I would stay still and not get bored. They also provided a nice meal for me in the middle of the process. Giving us about a 30 minute break which allowed me to stretch my legs. After everything was done, they showed me how it looked before they bandaged me up and gave me a beanie to wear. They gave me some very simple instructions on what I can and cannot do. The next day (2 days if you get it done on a Saturday) they remove the bandages, wash your head and give you a bunch of products to ensure your head/hair heals the best way possible. They then sit you down and give you more instructions on what you should and shouldn’t do, what you should and should not wear. They took their time to ensure that you understand everything and answer all questions that you may have. They are very professional and actually care about their patients instead of looking at you like you’re just a big bag of money. I highly recommend this team to anyone that is thinking of getting a FUE treatment. Updated on 6 Sep 2024: So it’s a little over a month since my surgery and my hair seems to be growing out just fine. I have noticed that about week 3-4 some of the moved hairs will start to fall out more than usual but Miss Rosa said that this is normal and that they should grow back later.
I am a German national with blonde relatively thin hair aged 23. Since my hairline already started receding around age 21, I knew that I had to do something if did not want to go bald for the rest of my life. I had a consultation with Dr. Kwon and the English speaking consultant Rosa about two months before my operation. I was particularly impressed by the detail and time that was taken to make me familiar with the hairline restoration process. Furthermore, the doctor adopted the hairline design to look natural in accordance with my ethnicity and hair type. Apart from that, he suggested a comprehensive tactic by using both finasteride to regain some of the lost hair and push the hairline back to normal by surgery. The surgery was relatively relaxed. I arrived, discussed the hairline design with Dr. Kwon and we started. I ended up pushing the hairline a little further down than initially plan (which I'm really happy with right now). The surgery lasted three hours (1087 grafts) and I got the last 87 for free :) Being two weeks removed from the surgery, I recently removed the scabs. The hair looks very natural and the flow of the individual hair direction fits in nicely with the existing hair. The recipient area is still reddish but that's going to fade with time. I can't emphasize enough how happy I am with having done this so early in my life. I recommend everyone who's experiencing signs of hairloss in their 20s to get a consultation. This saves money in the long term.
I’ll be sharing an honest review on my experience. No bs A little background information on me, I am a 27 year old Male of Chinese descent. I was born with thick wavy high volume hair. From a young age, perhaps about 16, my hair dresser started telling me to take better care of my hair as I was slowly losing hair. But it wasn’t until about 2 years ago when it got really serious. I couldn’t style my hair the way I wanted and the temple regions of my hair was thinning and receding fast and noticeably. I began feeling stress and self conscious all the time. Checking my hair and looking in the mirror all the time to check if my hair was in place. Staying away from rain and windy situations as it would blow my hair exposing my bald spots. Many people were asking about my hair as I was a considerably young chap. my response would simply be that I was losing my hair. This affected me pretty hard as none of my immediate family had hair loss problems. My dad is 70 and has and extremely even head of hair. Pretty full looking hair for someone his age. My elder brother, 33 years old, let’s call him J for future reference, has a thick full head of hair, so does my Mother. I only have one Uncle who is bald. Yup. Genetic jackpot right here. I never thought losing my hair would cause Me so much distress. But it did. In truth, it was something that was always on my mind, if my bald spot was showing. I couldn’t live like that anymore. It’s was either shaving my head bald or doing something about it. I chose the latter. Because well, why not. I tried supplements, like saw palmetto, biotin, pumpkin seed oil as well as bought a thousand dollar laser helmet. Some of these seemed to work for the first two months but after that things would slowly go back to normal. I did not try finasteride or minoxdil due to fear of side effects. I started searching for hair transplant clinics and initially I wanted to try one in Turkey however due to certain circumstances, I was unable to travel there. Living in south East Asian, the next viable option would be S.Korea. Famous for cosmetic surgery from Highly skilled Doctors especially in recent decades. After a difficult search, as it was difficult to find reviews on hair transplant Doctors, or maybe I was just bad at it, I found a couple of Clinics in S.Korea that I was willing to enquire with. I emailed a few clinics and finally decided with Forhair clinic in the Gangnam area in Seoul. The consultant that assisted me with my queries was Rosa. I emailed her and was given an online consultation. And based on the pictures she informed that I’d require about 1700 grafts but on arrival she would arrange another consultation in real life to assess a more precise estimate. Rosa showed me some of the before and after results of some patients and those that were from my country. Which made me feel a little bit more at ease. It was now or never. Go time. A decision was made. I booked my flight, 18 July 2018. I informed Rosa and a deposit of about 1million won was required, roughly about USD1000. Hotel stay of 4 days, 3 nights were included in the package. In a pretty good hotel in the heart of a busy shopping district. So there were a few options given to me, one is called the box-cut, where only a small portion of where the affected areas would be shaved, so that the hairs around it could conceal the procedure. The other was the fully shaven option, which I chose, because i felt that it would be easier for the Doctors to perform the surgery hence better results and I’d be done sooner as well as it was also cheaper. That’s based on my personal opinion, they could well do a great job even with a box cut, I just didn’t mind having a fully shaven head. 7 hour flight to Seoul. First time in Korea. I was excited but a little jittery. The morning I arrived, I went straight to the clinic from the airport(about a 40min bus ride on a spacious limousine bus). My Brother, J accompanied me. I arrived at the clinic about 15 minutes early. I met Rosa for the first time, she was really nice and pretty lady who made me feel at ease. She answered all my questions, so much so that when the doctor arrived I didn’t have much questions to ask. The doctor spoke a little bit of English and Rosa was there the whole time to make sure nothing gets miscommunicated. So, on to the details, Rosa briefed me on the sequence of how the surgery will go down and all the admin stuff. Like allergies, etc etc. The Doctors at the Forhair clinic were all trained by Dr John P Cole from Forhair USA and had years of experience under their belt. They were also using a special FUE technique using patented tools which is designed to enhance survival rate of the grafts. Above 90 percent graft survival rates as compare to conventional or old fashioned tools and techniques. She explained that a team of about 7 persons will be in the room working on me. With doctor present throughout the procedure. I was told The Technicians all had around 8-10 years of experience there and they would be the ones inserting the grafts while the doc would be doing the the extraction and slit/punching of the recipient area. The extraction and insertion of grafts will be done almost simultaneously in order to increase the survival rate of the grafts. Upon hearing this I was pretty Glad as the doctor would be around throughout the whole procedure. Hence one doctor can only be performing one surgery per day. Finally, Dr Kwon arrived, on the dot, at 1130am, the time I was suppose to come in. I met him but all my questions were already answered by Rosa. Dr Kwon examined my scalp and informed that my hair loss was indeed progressing and I would require about 2000 grafts. I was disappointed to hear that, hinging on the hope that my condition wasn’t as serious as I thought. He proceeded to draw and estimate of the hairline he recommended. Which I was happy with. The surgery was set to be done at 930am the following day. surgery day: I arrived at the clinic about 10-15 minutes earlier, after having my breakfast. I was greeted by the receptionist followed by Rosa and changed into my PJs for the procedure. Had some pictures taken for future references and tracking future progress. Proceeding into the operational room where a team of about 7 people were present. Rosa was there to make sure I was at ease and answer and last minute queries. She also prepared some materials for me in case I’d need to communicate with the team. Like a queue card for toilet breaks and what not. A TV was in the room to keep me occupied and I could choose from a list of Pay Per demand movies. Things were starting to get real. They started SHAVING MY HEADDDDDFDDDDDDFDDDD. So the surgery started probably about 10am. Local anesthesia was injected into my head. This was the part I was most nervous about. Imagine a needle going into your head...... scary thought. To be honest, it didn’t hurt at all. It felt like a bearable ant bite. And so it began. Dr Kwon began extracting the first batch of grafts and then make some slits on the recipient area. All while I was Casually watching the latest Jurassic Park movie. As he proceeded to extracted the second batch of grafts the team began to insert the first batch of grafts this went on till about 1plus pm I think. When we had a break for lunch. For about 20-30mins. Which I chose earlier from a list of options. I had a duck with some rice lunch set. It was delicious. One of the nicer lunch bento-style boxes I have seen and tasted. When I returned it continued. Dr Kwon was there the whole time. I could hear everything that was going on but it was ok. I felt reasonably comfortable trying not to move my head. I felt almost no pain at all. At about 5.30 pm the surgery concluded. The team and I had a Long day and I could see they were skilled and meticulous on their craft. It was a long and tedious process for them to hold such concentration for such Long hours. They also tried their best to keep me as comfortable as the circumstances would allow. I could hear and see them discussing about the operation via the reflection on the tv. There seems to be a screen at the back to Ensure that things are going according to plan, that’s from my assumption anyway. I was Glad that they were really professional and were ready to assess the situation base on how the surgery was progressing instead of plaining going with the initial plan without any thought. They continued to bandage my head up and covered it with a beanie. Rosa came in soon after and told me that 2046 grafts were inserted and that I could go back to the hotel to rest and have some dinner. My Brother picked me up and we walked back to the hotel, which was like a 2 min walk away. The following day at about 1130 I went back where I was taught on how to care for my head in the first two weeks like shampooing and all that stuff. Dr Kwon came in to check and he informed that transplant looked good and asked if I had any questions before leaving. I was also advices to start taking finasteride as it’s the best option to keep my remaining hairs. Since I haven’t tried it, if any symptom surfaces then I should stop. I was given a shampoo and some antibiotics to use in the coming days. I flew back home the next day. It has been a week since the procedure and everything is going well. Kudos to Dr Kwon and his team for the surgery as well done as Rosa who was knowledgeable and assisted me whenever I had questions. We communicate via email and text message and the replies are often prompt during office hours of course. In all, It was a great experience but with all hair transplants it is a waiting game to see the full results in a years time. I’d definitely recommend Forhair even though the prices are higher compared to say turkey, but I feel it’s totally worth it to have the doctor be in the operating room performing and making sure everything goes smoothly. So If you are someone in my shoes and haven’t done anything about it. You should. If hair transplants are something you are considering. Do check out Forhair clinic. Updated on 28 Jul 2018: These are some pictures pre HT as you can see receding rapidly from my Temples and some thinning around the crown area. It was a very stressful time for me Updated on 28 Jul 2018: I could take any pictures of my head on the day itself as it was bandaged right after the procedure. 2046 graft implant via FUE by Dr Kwon from Forhair Gangnam Updated on 28 Jul 2018: Loving my new hairline but definitely too early to tell the results. I hope all goes well and I’ll have beautiful think hair in 8-15months time. I can feel the numbness is almost all gone and my recipient area does itch from time to time. Trying my best not to touch it until 2 weeks later as advised by the clinic
“ I was always worried about my hairline, as time went on, wearing a hat every day and trying to hid it became such a bother. I inquired about hair surgery and I'm so happy I did. I no longer wear a hat everywhere, I'm happy with my results and happy to recommend ForHair to anyone. Give them a try and you won't be disappointed. I am very happy with my results and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. In fact, I am recommending them to you now! They give you an honest idea of what is possible and if you follow the guidelines, you will definitely see amazing results. The team is skilled in English and Korean, possibly other languages but I didn’t need that. They take time to make sure you understand the process and are there at each step to help you. The post-surgery care is amazing and feels more like a spa then post-surgery care and I love coming in for the checkups! If you are thinking of hair restoration, please take my advice and make an appointment today, you will not regret it! ”
