Whoever that person that rated Dr.Pahlavan 2 stars is absolutely crazy! No stars can rate this amazing doctor. He has definitely changed my life, and no words can describe my gratitude towards him. He is so nice and caring and views patients as someone who truly needs his help. He is very experienced in what he does, and changes lives practically every day! He does missions to other countries to fix children's facial deformities to give them an actual chance to be seen as normal, healthy children. I'm so happy I came across this man as my nose surgeon. I thank him everyday, because what he has done for me has changed my life. I got turned down so many times, but he decided to take a risk on me. He is one of the best surgeons out there!!!
I had a septiorhinoplasty (due to a deviated septum & crooked nose I got from breaking it this past 4th of July) as well as tonsilectomy on 2/26/09 (against most peoples advice). I had them all done at the same time because I couldn't afford the time off needed to do them separately. I am only 8 days post-op right now but I can tell you that the nose part of the surgery has caused me no issues other than not being able to breath out of my nostrils yet. The only pain I had was when my daughter head-butted me a few days ago! The swelling has gone down some, but not enough for my splint to pop off yet... thats when I will really get to see what was done. Because this was a medically covered procedure, I only had to pay my $5 co-pay (not the $100 it says above; so low because I am an employee). The nose job did not include any changes to the tip or nostrils because that wouldn't be covered, but I only wanted my bridge to be narrowed, straightened & the bump shaved off anyway so it worked out good tht way. So far I cannot see any change, but everyone else says they can already see a difference even with the spint on. It was an "open" procedure so the tip is still very swollen & puffy; I am told this could take a full year to subside. I will post an update once I am further along in my recovery & can see some results. Hope this helps someone. Updated on 10 Feb 2015: Several years post-op and not actually that pleased :( I still have issues breathing from one side and he actually did change the tip so not what I was expecting. I kinda wish I never did it. My nose actually looks larger now and more bulbous. I have residual numbness/nerve pain on the bridge.
Dr Pahlavan performed my Septorhinoplasty and Turbinectomy to repair 2 previous breaks this year at Kaiser Permanente. After my cast was removed it revealed I had a large lump deformity on the right side of my nose. The surgeon said it was normal and he’d see me in 3 months (no follow up appointment post surgery).I insisted on an appointment after 6 weeks and at that appointment he told me the bump was a bone callus and I should deeply massage in a linear motion along the fracture lines. He also said if it didn’t resolve itself, that he would like to revise it in a year. He said “he wouldn’t charge me since his reputation was on the line”. After several weeks of consistent massage, I developed the same deformity on the left side as well. At a consultation with another plastic surgeon, he told me my nose had collapsed in on itself and to stop massaging immediately. He also said in 30 years of practicing, he’d never seen a doctor fracture anyone’s nose in the location that he did. This doctor is not qualified to perform any kind of cosmetic procedure. He may help people breathe better but he will leave you with much worse deformities than before. DO NOT TRUST THIS DOCTOR. I just want to prevent what happened to me happening to anyone else. It's been absolute hell.
