I work in the medical field, so I was extremely happy to find Dr Lau. He has amazing bedside manor and treated my husband and myself with great respect. I spent 1 night in the hospital and went home the following morning. My recovery was painful, but I had a rectocele repair completed at the same time because it was covered under my insurance. After having 6 kids, I was ready for some pampering and getting things back in order.

WHY I DECIDED TO DO THIS I was married for most of my life and had a lot of kids. Genetics didn’t bounce me back like I had hoped. However, the worst part was that I get extremely wet during sex. Not the kind of wet men seem to dream about. The over the top, put down the rubber sheets, snorkels required. Which takes away a lot of friction. I hated it. Add that I was newly divorced and what woman doesn’t like the idea of making sure this was a brand new model. A model your ex husband can’t say he’s explored and conquered. PRE SURGERY I came to Dr. Lau after a lot of research on doctors and the procedure itself. We talked extensively over the phone. Sent him pictures of my vagina. I didn’t want to fly to Seattle for a consult so he accommodated me by phone and email. He also sent my prescription ahead of time. When I flew into Seattle for the procedure and met him the day before the surgery. He was just as kind and amazing as he had been. His wife works in his office also. They both treated me with so much respect and love. We spent over an hour going over everything in detail. The next day I went in for the procedure. I was numbed and awake for it. I never felt a thing during the process. They called me from their house that night to check on me, they called me the next day, they called me the next, a week later, a month later. He stayed in touch the entire time. Always willing to answer any questions I had. THE PAIN I must admit. I have an insanely high pain tolerance. I was off pain meds with a tummy tuck in 3 days. However, this procedure with a labiaplasty was far more painful. Considering it’s in a very sensitive spot. I was not prepared for how painful it was. Thankfully the dr was available to talk to me about any concerns.i eventually healed and just waited for the green light. THE SEX: I had to wait six weeks to have sex. I flew back to Seattle to make sure all was well to finally try this out. I got the green light and flew home to see my boyfriend. Holy hell, the first time was very painful and tight. It took several times to get full penetration. But there was no complaining by either of us. Once things got back to 100% normal. The sex was phenomenal. Orgasms being achieved far easier. My confidence helping also. When boyfriend number one and I broke up. I decided that no one needed to know. So when boyfriend number 2 came. I said nothing to him about the procedure. When we finally decided to take the next step he basically thought I had some unicorn vagina and was very vocal about how tight it was. I told him i must have good genetics and acted as if I was shocked he thought so. My vagina is not only right at the opening, he tightened it in the back of it too. Making for an amazing sexual experience for me and for him. The most amazing part of it all isn’t just the sex itself. It’s the confidence that comes with not worrying about how I feel, how wet I am. If my partner can feel anything. Not worrying about any echos, hallways and hotdogs, rainforest monsoons...ya know the jokes...sex for women is so mental and that alone improved every aspect of my sex life. This by far was the best thing I have ever done for myself. I highly recommend this group.

I have always hated my long labia minora. Have had it since I was a teenager. As I got older I realized that all labia looks different and although normal I was still uncomfortable. I’ve wanted this surgery since I was 18. The pups wold occasionally fold in during sex, would get pinched in certain underwear, and woke rub if I went commando. Excited to share this journey with anyone facing same issues Updated on 13 May 2019: I was awake during procedure. I was given a shot and a pill an hour before(one for pain one for calming)— he marked the area and we went over the procedure and all questions again. They moved me into the OR and he injected me with some local numbing it pinched a little but wasn’t painful. I didn’t feel anything after that. I had a movie on and my phone in hand playing around on Facebook. When we were done they gave me a small ice pack and panty liner and I went home (driven by friend) the first two day I slept and kept ice on it. Pain was minimal Maybe a little stingy and feels like u gave birth (swelling and tingly) a little burn when per but used spray bottle. By day 3 I didn’t take any meds and just keep clean w panty liners and triple antibiotic and spraying when I pee. I took a week off work but would have been fine to go back after two days . I haven’t taken any meds but ibuprofen would be my go to if I was moving around more. It looks gruesome but he took an entire inch off each lip and removed some skin round the hood. I’m super excited to see healed I can already tell huge difference dr Lau called me the next day and checked in. Updated on 23 May 2019: So far pain has been super minimal and swelling was uncomfortable the first week then it turned to a horrible itch I thought I had yeast infection but it’s just healing. Not much helps the itch I put warm compress and triple antibiotic on panty liner . It was really gross looking the stitched areas turned huge on one side but it went away and is healing pretty amazing. It’s a HUGE difference already and I’m sooooooo happy I made this decision. Can’t wait to see it heal more and smooth out over the next few weeks Updated on 22 Jun 2019: I am happy with how much smaller they are but they are very lumpy and uneven and not attached in some places where the stitches were placed. There is one spot that hangs like a skin tag and I don’t see how it will heal smooth but praying it will smooth out I am grateful I’m celibate because I would be embarrassed to have sex with the way it currently looks. They are not symmetrical at all one side seems to have more taken off but I was told can’t see final til outcome til 3-6 months so trying to trust process as I close a dr who had lots of experience Updated on 23 Aug 2019: Had a post op with dr lau. Addressed my concerns he says we can do a touch up and fix the asymmetry and lumpiness next month. Overall I am very happy with the functionality of it and feel it’s a Major improvement but do wish it would have healed smoother (keep in mind I’m only 3.5 months post op and final healing can take 6-12 months). I will give another update when we do second surgery

I am writing to support the vaginoplasty I had with Dr. Lau. It has been 6 weeks and I have made a full recovery. The green light has been given to resume normal activities, so I am excited to discover the results post-surgery. The decision to have this procedure was made after much research via the internet and meeting to discuss the difference between the non-invasive procedure of Thermiva versus Vaginoplasty. Honestly, there’s no comparison. Hands down, Thermiva would have done nothing for me. I attended the appointment to discuss the option but soon realized it would not provide the true changes I was looking for ie: reducing the size of the opening and improving elasticity and tightness of the vagina. After meeting with Dr. Lau, an extremely warm and friendly physician, I had confidence that all would go well. He assured me that this particular procedure would do everything I expected it to. I had a tummy-tuck 12 years ago, so I was familiar with surgery, recovery, etc. I would say this particular procedure is similar to a tummy tuck in that stiches are applied, and muscle tissue is cinched in a way as to make the vagina similar in strength and elasticity to what it once was, prior to giving birth to a singleton and twins. My first daughter was 9 lbs 6 oz! A lot of changes were made to my body to accommodate her birth. I had both forceps and an episotomy. I was stressed out about the “shot” given in the vaginal region as part of the surgical process. After reading a variety of reviews this was my biggest concern. No worries though with Dr. Lau…I was given a Valium-type pill on the morning of surgery. Within an hour, while watching a movie with headphones, he applied what felt like a cool gel to the exterior parts of my vagina. Within approximately 15-20 minutes he proceeded to give me some shots of what I think was something like lidocaine to the interior and an exterior portion of my vagina. The worst sensation I felt was a slight pinch. By the time I arrived home I was able to rest the remainder of the day with only minor pain medication needed since the numbing agent worked quite affectively at not allowing me to experience much pain. Overall, I would highly recommend Dr. Lau, his staff, and the procedure. I am very happy with the decision to have this procedure.

I've been wanting a labiaplasty for quite some time and finally went through with some consults. I was very nervous about seeing a Male Dr, but Dr. Lau made me very comfortable. Explained everything he planned on doing while showing me with a mirror. He showed before and after pics as well. I had my surgery 5 weeks ago and am so happy! The surgery was painless and went very smoothly. The recovery wasn't bad either. He called me the day after to see how I was doing and saw me 1 week post op to make sure things looked good. I am so happy I went with Dr. Lau and so happy with the results!

My 3rd day and recovery is very hard. The procedure was done under local anesthesia with sedative pill and injections before which I had numbing cream so did not even feel him injecting me. The first day I was throwing up and almost fainted trying to stand up. Still can't go without pain pills. Bleeding. Not fun at all. So whoever says the recovery is 2-3 days is BS. Very swollen right now. Taking stool softeners which help because I can't strain at all due to pain. Does not hurt to pee which is good. Typing up this review and still in pain so trying to shorten it. If there are any questions feel free to message me. Updated on 18 Jan 2017: So I'm over 4 weeks after. I did get infection in my vaginoplasty scar so had to take antibiotics for additional 10 days and Epsom salt baths helped sooo much!

I've been wanting this procedure for years now and it has always been the price that has been so discouraging for me and then finally one day I was like... screw it, money is money and I can always making it up in a few months, this surgery will be a living changing experience. I've always been self conscious of my labia minor as it hangs down a bit and I just always found myself super self conscious of it, especially in bikini bottoms and tight clothing. I looked into doctors who do Labiaplasty's locally in Vancouver, BC but I found that the reviews on Dr.Wilke were very mixed. I then started to look into areas around me and stumbled across Dr.Michael Lau in Edmonds, Washington. I gave their office a call and talked to a very friendly woman named Jennifer, who she then set up a phone conference and within an hour I had talked to Dr.Lau and felt very comfortable. Literally the next day I made an appointment and a month later I was sitting in his office. The whole experience so far has been easy breezy! I drove from Vancouver Canada and arrived in Seattle for my appointment at 12:30pm. Paid for the procedure and then met Dr.Lau shortly after. I did my consultation where we talked about everything and he showed me what I could expect. I felt very comfortable in his hands has he has done some fantastic work. After signing all the consent forms and agreeing on what will be done, I then changed into a robe and numbed for the surgery. While they set up for the surgery and the numbing was taking effect, they set me up with a pillow, nice big blanket and a movie. When it was time for the surgery they just moved me into the room next door, where my movie continued to play. I was very comfortable and honestly did not feel a thing through the whole surgery! At the end of the surgery they were all so very kind. They fed me some tea and crackers, packed me up a goodie bag and then I was on my way back home to Canada. I am just on my first day of recover and I really can't complain. I have had no real pain, just mild discomfort! I've been icing it constantly since after the procedure and will continue until tomorrow around 4pm. Other then that I have just been spraying it with black tea after I go to the washroom and patting it try. I will try to keep this post updated until it is all healed up. I am a little discouraged to put a picture up 1 day after the surgery as it looks pretty scary haha. So maybe i'll give it a few days and put it up as a comparison once some of the swelling has gone down. Updated on 9 Nov 2016: Day 1-3 were my rest days. I essentially sat on an ice pack for the first 2 days and for day 3 I just laid low at home with very little discomfort. Day 4 I went into work and found myself walking pretty funny. I work a desk job so once finally at work it wasn't so bad. By the end of the day I was actually able to work perfectly fine. The only thing that bothered me was feeling the stiches poke me a little. I found what made the last 2 days easy breezy has been because I've been wear looser pants/even jeans with men's boxer briefs! Here I am on day 5 and I'm very happy with the results so far. I still have swelling of course but I have had no pain at all this whole experience! I can feel all the stiches and my doctor said they should dissolve by day 10. He said it is very important to the recovery to continue doing the warm wash clothes for at least 2 minutes, 4 times a day from day 3 onwards. He also suggested taking a bath with Epsom salts which I'm going to start tonight as my stiches feel very prominent. Updated on 22 Nov 2016: I don't want to put the picture I have from day one because it's a bit of a bloody mess. I suggest not examinating it too much on day one, but do take a picture. It's interesting to look back and notice the significant difference. I noticed a huge difference in swelling by day 5. I'm on day 18 now and I am now slowly getting back to the gym. My doctor said I can do low impact cardio, so I have been doing a light work out on the stairmaster and then just weighted machines for my arms. I'm still very cautions and won't do anything vigorous until I hit the minumum of 6 weeks, I really don't want to mess up anything! Other then maybe a hand full of stiches, I feel like I'm back to my usual self. I know I still have lots more healing to go until I have my final results, but so far I'm happy with the healing process and how it's looking so far. The incision line is a little rough and hard but I know in time that will heal up. Oh also I was actually about to get my Piercing back in by about day... 7 :)!

I had a partial labiaplasty by Dr. Michael Lau. I have noticed a difference between my left labia (which was twice as big) than the right one since I was 15 yrs old. It didn't cause me pain. Though, I found it asthetically very unpleasing. My exs have not said anything about it. But now that I am single, I decided to do the surgery for myself and take this time to heal. I have yet to see the final result since i did the surgery a few days ago. Regardless, I have been very please with my expirience. And my doctor is truly the best at what he does.

First of all, having kids, and a well endowed partner was rough on my vagina. It was loose, ragged, and my birth episiotomy was crooked, making this extra tissue between my anus and my vaginal opening. I wasn't to excited about leaving the lights on for sex. I'll get the before pics and add them later Updated on 24 Oct 2015: I'm sore and a little swollen. The sutures are all the absorbable kind, and I've followed the directions to use cool packs, arnica. I haven't needed pain medication but if I do later on, I'll take them. I slept well last night. Sorry I haven't put up more photos, I'll get to that later. One great thing about not having general anesthesia is that I feel great! I will be heading back to Dr. Lau in a week for follow-up. Updated on 25 Oct 2015: Today, I was more active and definitely feel a little more sore. Having had my surgery on Friday, I suggest at least three full days off- and that is just with tightening without labioplasty. I got a little braver and checked out my surgery with a mirror. I'm swollen, and there is expected redness- but I'm pleased with how even things look. When I follow up next week, I'll ask for copies of my baseline pictures for comparison, and I'll post them here. As for tightness- I'm MUCH tighter- and I'm really pleased with the work between my anus and vagina. Updated on 22 Feb 2016: All is well! I waited a long time before taking things for a spin, and I am happy to report that after three concerted (and very slow) efforts, everything works just fine! It felt too tight at first (as in sex will be impossible) but with patience, everything feels and looks fine. Special thanks to Dr. Lau and his team- it's nice to not feel like I'm gaping anymore. Excellent work, and well worth it. Updated on 24 Feb 2016: Because I was embarrassed to involve anyone in my recovery time, I slept in a little hotel near the clinic. I was driven there, and because of a gentle sedative and a very light pain medication I was relaxed and relatively pain free. I woke up in the middle of the night and was a little sore, say 3 out of ten- so I applied a cool pack and took some advil. I never needed any prescription pain medication after that first dose. I drove an hour to get home, sitting on a cool pack and pretty much staying on Advil for two days. I reluctantly checked out the area when I showered and it was swollen, tender, and felt tight. I had taken a stool softener so having a BM wasn't scary, and I never felt like I was going to pop any sutures. After a week, my pain was gone, and my surgical area felt thick, like a lump- a little tender to touch and very very tight (extremely tight, as in pinkie finger tight). I could feel the sutures, like little bumps, and I knew from his warning that this was normal and that it would smooth out. Over a few weeks, it totally smoothed out and to be honest, I hardly ever touched or looked, but in the shower, noticed the thickness of the tissue was still there. The I have a really good friend, and I took a picture of it and sent it to her. She replied that it was "a perfect looking vagina." After a month, it was just tight, with a little less feeling in the skin that was sutured on the outside. Nothing that affected pleasure. I waited 4 months to have sex, and it was very tight, very uncomfortable, and felt kind of impossible. With effort and lube, everything now works just fine. Sex feels better, even though I'm still tight it isn't so tight that it hurts. Hope this answers your questions, and I'm happy to answer any more you might have.
