DAY 2 Post Op

I’ve had a wonderful experience so far. My doctor has called me everyday including later in the day of my procedure. I haven’t thrown up at all which is great. I have minor cramping but this is part of the normal symptoms. I weighed 215 the day of my consultation which was July 11, my procedure was scheduled for July 30th. I decided to start the liquid diet 2 weeks early although I cheated 3 days and had some solid food. The morning of my procedure I weighed 199. Today is Wednesday August 1st, and its been 2 days since the procedure. If you are considering the orbera system, being prepared is the best advice I can offer, have everything you need beforehand. Updated on 3 Aug 2018: So today is Friday August 4 2018 and I’m feeling much better. From 1-10 I would say I am at a 9. I still get minor cramps/pains every once in a while but totally tolerable. So I was 199.8 pounds yesterday and today I am 199.4 I am still really bloated, I am really retaining water. I haven’t been able to use the restroom (#2) today, I think the medicine is making me constipated, hopefully it goes away soon. I’ll keep updating. Thanks for reading. Updated on 14 Aug 2018: Hi there, it’s day 15 and I still get cramps one in a while. I have my second follow up appointment tomorrow and I really haven’t been exercising like I’m supposed to. Also if I eat red meat I get really sick it doesn’t digest, so I’m like super full and bloated for 2 days and I have thrown up 2 times because of it. So no red meat. Chicken is okay if you eat just a little. So today my weight is 191.1 so since July 16 I have lost a total of 24 pounds. Although I had the procedure done on July 30th and since the procedure about 2 weeks I have lost 9 pounds.

One Month In...

I had my balloon inserted on 1/15/18. I was super nauseous the first two days. A lot of throwing up. I haven’t thrown up since ( at least not from the procedure). I was was on a liquid diet for a week before the procedure and I lost 8lbs. What I didn’t expect was the extreme exhaustion and constipation. Take aleast two weeks off work. Even though you feel better each day, you’ll be incredibly drained. Get off the protein drinks post 2 weeeks after procedure. They will constipate you and stop your weight lost. Am I happy I did this? Some days yes some days no. I started at 214lbs. One month later I weigh 196lbs. However i’ve Lost 6% of my muscle. It take a while to get back in your routine. Start walking and build your strength back up. Walking in the morning has help reduce my GERD. Lastly, this a fairly new procedure to the US. Look for doctors who are doing a study. My doctor is conducting a study which means every time I see her I get $200. This means I get 1/2 of what I paid for the procedure back. Good luck Updated on 25 Jul 2018: I'm part of year-long (paid) study for the obera balloon. I had my balloon inserted in Jan of this year and just had it removed last week. Overall I lost 41lbs but mostly I lost a lot of inches everywhere. So far, the biggest thing I’ve learned is knowing when I'm full and when to stop eating. I've also dedicated myself to working out 5 days a week I do 30 mins of HIIT training a day with Julian Michael’s DVD. One of the things I did not change was my diet. For me past diets have failed because I felt so restricted and would eventually give in to those craving. So I just decided to eat less and not have fried food. I'm not a huge sweet eater so the no sugar thing wasn't to much of a change. Although there where times in the he beginning that I regretted getting this procedure, i fully believe it was the best decision I could have made. This process is not for the weak. The end result is well worth getting a second chance at a healthy weight and a healthier life.
