I've been going through hair loss for about 10 months. I've been taking Spironolactone for 8 months now. I've tried multiple vitamins, evening primrose, Viviscal, etc. It has slowed since the beginning but I'm not sure what helped. I decided to get PRP treatments to help with my thinning sides. I am going to receive 3 prp treatments and 4 hair laser treatments. Each treatment is 1 month apart. I just got my first one done a few days ago! Pain was minimal. It was administered with a gun type thing not the needle done manually. I assume that's why pain was less. I received no numbing but I did take two T3's (I was quiet nervous!) which I was told was okay. I didn't have any swelling. It was a little tender after though. One thing that did concern me was that on my second hair wash after the treatment I experienced a ton of shedding! During the shower and while I was blow drying. I have to say that scared me very much. But that could be from a variety of things...I did just get a new shower filter and it was my second time using it. I also stopped taking all the vitamins I was on about a week before treatment...maybe that was it? Who knows! It is such a struggle trying to figure out what causes it. I should also mention I have had my thyroid tested, hormones tested, iron, some vitamins, basically everything I could, and everything as come back normal. Anyways, that's my story. If any one has questions or suggestions for me to try or tests I could do please message me!! Updated on 26 Oct 2017: Updated on 1 Nov 2017: So it's been 3 weeks after my PRP treatment and I unfortunately have not noticed much of a change in shedding. Hoping things turn around soon... Updated on 14 Nov 2017: I went to a naturopathic doctor last week. I wanted to give the natural way more of a chance since I incorporate natural, organic foods and products in every other aspect of my life, why not medicine! Anyways, I was in there for about an hour and 15 minutes and I explained to her my whole story. Everything from what I eat in a normal day, to workouts, to products I use, vitamins I'm currently taking, etc. She tested me with a biomeridian machine. I can't explain exactly what it does because to be honest I'm not sure how it works, but it is supposed to test certain frequency patterns in your body to see which organs might be inflamed or toxic. She said I was low in Iodine, high in histamine, and there was a bunch more things but I don't have the paperwork with me. I also told her I have extremely high anxiety and stress. I've naturally always been like that. I forgot to bring my lab results for her to look at my blood work but they are going to get my doctor to email them to her so she can have a better look. I told her my results had come back normal but she explained to me sometimes even if something like iron is on the lower side of normal it still might be too low for you. She tested all my vitamins I was taking and the only one she found didn't really match my body was the Evening Primrose. So for now I'm going to leave that out of my regime. I'm still taking vitamin D, Omega 3, "Chill Pills", Aldactone, Chloridine. She put me on three things. The first thing is an Idom 30c activator, I take that for a month then I'm done that one. The more long term ones were BioThy and Inostal. I just started them today. I will update in a week with how I'm feeling on them or if anything has changed! Updated on 20 Nov 2017: So I got my 2nd PRP session done on Wednesday, Nov 15! It went well. I didn't take a t3 this time and it definitely hurt a little bit more but nothing I couldn't stand. I did the PRP then the red laser after. All in all it took about an hour. With the PRP we went further down my sides to the back of my head this time. Everything went really well, the only thing that kind of disappointed me was that my main receding side on my right side was missed. My left side was done a lot! But she must of forgot or ran out of plasma. Anyways, can't do much about it now. Next time I'll make sure to tell her to get that spot. I didn't take before pictures because I haven't had any results yet. I will do it for next time though. I did take some after photos though. Will update in a few weeks with any updates! Updated on 13 Dec 2017: So I just got my third PRP! She focused a lot on my sides and the top. It wasn't as painful at all this time. I think I'm getting used to it. After the session I did the red light for 30 minutes, then I was done! I think I'm seeing some results actually. A few baby hairs around where my receding sides are. I was told it would really start to fill in around 3 months after my last session. I'm hopeful that I will see more results soon. An update on my hair! It's recently started to slow down shedding...finally! I'm taking the same homeopathic remedies as in my previous post but I've added collagen. (Thanks to a tip I had from someone on here!) Maybe it's all starting to work? I've also decided to quit taking Spironolactone. I've been taking it for over 9 months and my hair was still coming out in handfuls every time I took a shower. I forgot to take it for a few days and the shedding stopped so I thought maybe it was making things worse? Anyways, I'm slowly coming off of it so I don't shock my body and have more hair loss. I'm also using Fight the Fallout shampoo by OGX. All in all, I'm happy with where things are heading right now. Updated on 24 Apr 2018: Hey! Sorry I haven't updated in a while. I've been very busy with school and haven't seen fast hair changes. It's literally taken this long to start seeing some results. It's been 7 months since my first PRP and about 4 months since my 3rd and final PRP session. Things have been going okay. I'm still taking the vitamins mentioned in my other posts. I'm also still using the Fight the Fallout by OGX. This shampoo for some reason works to slow my shedding very well. I've tried so many different expensive shampoos and nothing has worked. This is a pretty cheap shampoo and conditioner (I've gotten it at Walmart, Rexall, and Shoppers Drug Mart) and if I try to go off of it and try something new my shedding increases again. So I've come to the conclusion my hair loss must have something to do with what's on my scalp but I've had it examined and it's apparently healthy...so I dunno. I will have to keep looking into it and maybe get my hair follicles actually tested. I've started using Ducray's Neopeptide Anti-Hairloss lotion to help with my receding hair line. I've been using it for 3-1/2 months. I have seen tons of new baby hair all around where I spray it. Now it might be from the PRP and the spray doesn't work or the PRP might not have worked and the spray does, I'm not sure. I know I should have waited 6 months to see my PRP results but I was just so panicked and wanted to try and fix this before summer. Anyway's, I'm going to keep using it because I believe it's helping and it's cheaper than Rogaine. Also, if I'm happy with my results and stop using it I won't lose all the new regrowth like I've heard happens with Rogaine. That is all that is new with my hair loss journey. I try to keep it simple and I'm hoping I'll have my sides filled in within another 6 months. I will update as I see more results. Updated on 9 Oct 2018: Hey! So, it's been about a year since I got my first PRP done. Honestly, I haven't seen any major improvements from the PRP. I did 3 sessions, maybe I needed more but I wanted to update on the vitamins and new hair products I'm using. I've been taking Foligrowth from Advanced Trichology for about 3 months, I just started taking Omega-3 from Kiva, and I have been taking Milk Thistle from PhiNaturals for about 3 months now. I've also started using Stimulating shampoo and conditioner from Rocky Mountain Soap Company. I love this company. They are based out of here in Alberta and use all natural ingredients. The Stimulating shampoo and conditioner has a ton of scalp stimulating ingredients. Now I can't attribute my hair loss slowing from any particular product but it seems whatever I've been doing has been helping. (It is also the beginning of winter here in Edmonton and they do say that you won't shed as much in the winter. It's your bodies way of trying to keep warm I guess lol.) The amount I shed in the shower has gone down by about half. I've also been using womens Rogaine for just over 3 months. I've only been using it on my receded sides so I'm still on my first bottle. My sides seem to have filled in a bit. I haven't had any bad reactions from Rogaine so I'm going to keep using it for another 3 to 4 months to see if my sides will fill in completely. One thing I've noticed is that when I'm extremely stressed my hair will begin to fall out more. So working on meditation, exercise, and trying to stay healthy is a must for me. That's about it! I hope to keep seeing results. And I will keep updating if I change any vitamins or hair products. Updated on 10 Apr 2019: Hey! I haven't posted anything for a while so I thought I would post an update with how I'm doing with my hair loss. About two weeks ago I decided to stop ALL vitamins. I know, crazy right. I have been taking multiple vitamins, supplements, etc. for years! I can't even remember a time I haven't taken some form of vitamin. I honestly just started getting overwhelmed. I was researching like crazy, I ended up buying Priorin and some other supplements to start a new regime to see if this would be my fix! Well, I only got about three pills into the package and I just had a huge change of heart. Like I said, I've been taking supplements basically my entire teenage/ young adult life and it seems I've only gained in the amount of issues I've had. I have a lot more than just hair loss I deal with every day and it seems my hair and skin have just become increasingly sensitive as the years have gone by and I was beginning to freak out. I can't live like this anymore. SO I decided to stop it all. I already eat healthy and exercise everyday, maybe I was just overloading my body with extra vitamins that I just don't need? I don't know... that's theory of the month. So, what am I doing now? No extra vitamins, eating fruits AND vegetables at every meal, trying to get in some form of exercise everyday; whether it's going to the gym, jogging, or taking my dog for a walk, and most of all, trying to keep a positive outlook and BELIEVE that I will get better. (Power of the mind, right?) I have started a new shampoo and hair serum that I'm kinda excited about though... Shampoo is called Tree to Tub the Activation Blend. It has a ton of great ingredients like soapberry, aloe vera, saw palmetto, and caffeine (which are the first four ingredients). It's supposed to obviously help with hair loss as well as keep your scalp at the right PH level, it's anti-inflammatory, among other things. I suggest giving it a google! For conditioner, I'm still using my Rocky Mountain Soap Stimulating Conditioner. Then when I'm out of the shower and I let my hair air dry a bit I use The Ordinary Multi-Peptide Serum for Hair Density. I've only been using it for about 10 days so I will have to wait and see how it turns out but I swear my hair has been falling out a bit less every time I use it and it looks and feels healthier. Greatest thing about it, it's $17 and I swear the bottle will last for 6 months, maybe more because you only need a tiny bit to rub into your scalp. I would go into more explanation about it but I feel like I'm already writing a super long post so please google this as well! I mean for $17 it's worth a try. WAY cheaper than Rogaine and a lot of other hair serums. So yeah! This is what I'm most recently doing. I've only stopped taking all vitamins about 2 weeks ago so I haven't seen any side effects yet (like my hair falling out in clumps or something) and I'm hoping I won't! Fingers crossed! I will post another update in two months to let you know if this new plan has been working or not! Updated on 19 Jun 2019: Hey! I've been getting quite a few messages so I thought I would post an update. I'm still not taking any vitamins and so far it has had no bad effects on me. My hair hasn't had any excessive shedding or reaction. I feel the same as when I took them... wonder what that means. I'm still using the Tree to Tub shampoo and I've recently got the conditioner called Awakening Peppermint. I don't use conditioner on my scalp, just my ends so I haven't seen any changes in my hair loss using the conditioner but it does make my hair very soft! I've been using the shampoo for about 2 months now and I have to say I really like it. My hair is softer, it has definitely slowed the loss, and I have baby hairs all over my head. After I blow dry my hair it looks like I've stuck my finger in a light socket with all the baby hairs sticking straight out. lol. Kind of annoying because they are not easily tamed BUT I will take it! That means my hair is thickening up! I've discontinued the Ordinary hair serum I was using though. Not because it wasn't working but it just made my hair greasy. I tried it a few different ways...on dry hair, on wet hair then blow dry, but no matter what I'd still have a greasy feeling and I already have an oily scalp so it just didn't work for me. I haven't started with any other serum yet and I don't think I will for a while. This shampoo is working for me so I'm going to stick with it!
Dr.Rao is amazing. I recently was refered to him after experiencing some complications from lip injections performed elsewhere. Dr.Rao ensured I was assisted in a more than timely matter. He is truly kind hearted and really cares about his patients. He does not rush through the appointment - he makes sure any of your concerns are addressed and you leave feeling at ease. The clinic is beautiful and well kept, and the front end staff are kind and remember their guests. 10/10 would reccomend Dr.Rao!
I enjoy clear skin. I saw Dr. Jaggi Rao after seeing several other dermatologists about severe cystic acne. The dosage and duration of my course of accutane was not well suited to my needs. Dr Rao adjusted this, in addition prescribed blue light and a chemical peel. It was the first time I'd ever seen a real improvement in my skin.
I had SmartXide resurfacing around eyes 4 days ago. Procedure was uncomfortable even with topical freezing. Eyes then swelled nearly shut for a day. But now only 4 days later, nearly all is back to normal. However, there was no peeling at all. I am very surprised, as I expected peeling. I'm not sure if there will be any results at all. Wrinkles are where they started. Some water under eye still so not sure if the dark circles will be helped.
This clinic is awful and I received a severe blistering burn from their laser. They are very interested in selling you products but drop you cold if you make any complaint. Their Sciton laser is 20 years old. The old machines with new handpieces are nothing like new machines. You will uncomfortable by getting the "hard sell" on their products and services which are 3rd rate. You could not pay me to return to this clinic
It’s been years now since Dr. Jaggi Rao did blepharoplasty on my eyes. Every single day I think of Dr. Jaggi Rao and get sick to my stomach over the scarring and irregular sizes of my eyes. I have bleach white half moon scars on my eyelids that no amount of waterproof makeup covers. I just want to caution women about Dr. Jaggi Rao’s skills in cosmetic surgery. Dr. Jaggi Rao is NOT a surgeon, he is a pimple/rash skin doctor. He uses his “new toy” the laser to do the blepharoplasty, because he is not authorized, skilled or trained to do the blepharoplasty with a scalpel. The laser method leaves major scarring, trust me I know! A blepharoplasty must be performed by a surgeon using a scalpel, leaving no scarring whatsoever. Dr. Jaggi Rao is one of the numerous dermatologists who are jumping on the cosmetic dollar gravy train. So please ladies, make sure you use an authorized and qualified cosmetic surgeon when it comes to enhancing your beautiful face!
I chose the Halo because I wanted to address texture, fine lines, and large pores in the nose and cheek area. Today is day 5 and I’m still quite swollen. Day 3 was the worst for swelling and redness. Yesterday (day 4), after my shower I began shedding some of the brown, speckled, sandpapery skin, and the skin underneath is baby pink. I’ll post periodically with updates. I’m excited to see the longer term results. Updated on 29 Dec 2017: The swelling has continued to come down; however, there is still some under the eyes and on the cheeks. The redness is receding in intensity but still there overall. Still flaking and pinpoints of blood with a few MENDS left on my nose and left side of the forehead. The good news is that the texture of my new skin is much more refined and the pores are smaller, with many of them invisible. So far very happy!
