Ian Carlisle, MD

Ian Carlisle is an excellent surgeon and I highly recommend him. I am extremely happy with how my nose looks and functions now, its just perfect and better than I could have imagined! My only regret was not doing it sooner!
I met with 3 other plastic surgeons in Melbourne, however decided to chose Ian as I felt most comfortable with him, he was very confident in his ability (30+ years of PS), he is a lovely man and gives no BS! He picked up on faults with my nose that could be improved that other surgeons didn't, and his quality of imaging was amazing! His office space at the hospital isn't there to impress like some other surgeons in Melbourne, but all I cared about was finding a PS who I was happy with and who was confident in what they could do to my nose.
Overall, it was a great experience! After my septo-rhinoplasty, I stayed overnight in Cabrini hospital in Malvern, no pain whatsoever during the whole recovery (i was actually shocked there was no pain!), and his nurse Kim, and receptionist Rochelle were both so lovely, caring and attentive. I have seen Ian 2 times since (cost included in rhinoplasty fees), and he is very happy with the results also!

After seeing so many ''known'' and highly advertised surgeons I finally end up seeing Dr Ian .From the moment I met him and after our first consultation I just knew that he is the person to go with .
The way he examined me and explained everything is incomparable with other surgeons I have seen.
Like a previous person has stated Dr Ian has done exactly what he explained he will do . The nose looks natural and perfectly suits my face.
I ended up having few different procedures at once and cutting depressor-septi muscle too due to pulling my tip down .
Recovery took longer than I expected to be . I had internal splints for 2 weeks and I couldn't breath . My lips swelled up so bad that I coudnt talk for at least a week . I was badly bruised everywhere my eyelids were closing and my whole face was looking like a chipmunk for a good 3- 4 weeks.
It has been 8 weeks now and Im still healing . I have a tiny little bump on the bridge that Dr Ian said its due to healing process where cartilage is forming on the top and will disappear.
I forgot to mention that I staid in Canbrini hospital overnight and Im so happy I did. I cant imagine going home . Hospital staff took a very good care of me and Im so happy I staid there
Dr Ian was also available over the phone If I ever had any concerns or questions even before my follow up appointments.
I have already seen Dr Ian twice so far and my third appointment is on its way :)
I also wanted to mention that due to depressor septi muscle being cut my smile was changed and I couldn't smile as I used too .. my top lip was stiff and dropped down a bit . This is slowly getting back to normal
Also took me much longer for my stitches to came out ,they are dissolvable and usually they disappear within 2 weeks but Im a very slow healer so took me 4 weeks for all stitches to come out ( external one where cut was done )
Advice : Make sure you buy dry mouth spray as for the first 2 weeks you will only breath through your mouth . The biggest challenge is swallowing and eating and breathing at the same time. If i didnt have this spray I wouldn't be able to get any sleep due to dryness and when I say dryness I mean sahara desert one.
Also its recommended to sleep in upwords position I spent 2 weeks on recliner chair . Actually almost 3 weeks as i was pretty swollen .

So I thought I would share my rhinoplasty experience with you.
Before getting it done, I did a lot of research. I researched for over six months almost every day. I even considered going overseas. I was a little disappointed with how few reviews there were on here, so I thought now I would share my experience. I met with four different surgeons. Three out of the four surgeons I met with, I knew straight away just were't right. They either were really obnoxious and completely unwilling to hear about what I wanted or they just seemed like they really didn't know what they were doing and their photos did not reflect well on them (despite them having gotten amazing reviews).
The surgeon I ended up choosing cost half the price of the others (including consultation), listened to everyone of my concerns (no matter how many times he would have heard the same things from others), took the time to answer every single one of my questions, was patient and even just before going in to surgery, he again asked me "this morning before coming when you looked in the mirror, what were the main things you were not happy with?"
Along with that, he organises to see you regularly for the following year for free just to make sure everything is going okay. And if you have any concerns, he will see you.

They want you to stay in hospital after surgery for one night. That was the best thing I could have had. I was feeling quite a lot of discomfort and to be so well looked after by nurses throughout the night was absolutely wonderful. After that experience, I really don't know how surgeons send patients home that night.
Now, the result. I am beyond pleased. It is exactly what I was looking for. It is very natural and no one can tell I have had anything done. It is still swollen under the tip but generally the swelling has gone down.
He really did what he said he would do and no more. By that I mean, he didn't make it a ski slope or cut away too much,
My main concern was that my nose would look fake. So many noses I see are 'different' to how they were before, but they really just look fake. Mine does not.
I cannot recommend this surgeon any more! Unlike many other surgeons I know of (both that I met and that I have heard about) this man is not in it for the money. You can tell this by not only his fees, but the amount of care he gives you!
