Just because Im 59 doesnt mean I have to look like it and since I take God's promises LITERALLY--I decided to have the PDA Threadlift. My nose was going south and I had the beginning formations of jowls....I just couldnt take it. I was researching fillers for the nasolabial folds and somehow stumbled across threadlifts. The nearest doctor was over 160 miles away but I didnt care. I looked at her before/afters and did my due diligence as far as searching for any negative reviews and finding none--booked my appointment right away. Side note: I don't do a lot of highway driving because Im always afraid I'll have to take one of the "highways into the sky" loops to get to my destination--thankfully, that was not the case. The facility is beautiful. Artfully decorated and immaculate....extremely professional--yet welcoming at the same time and it was Dr Mikkilineni, who greeted me herself. During the consultation she educated me on the procedure and answered ALL of my questions. She let me know what to expect every step of the way. I experienced some anxiety when she was doing my nose because you can hear (but not feel) the threads traveling to the point of insertion but just as quickly as it started--it was over. The jowl area was a bit more complicated. She used lidocaine to anesthetize my jaw as much as she could but honestly, even my dentist has to refer me out to an oral surgeon for some procedures After the procedure was done, I could definitely see some swelling and what appears to be dimpling but I can tell its going to be beautiful--very shortly. In my opinion, I look about 20 years younger. Sleeping the first night was a bit of a challenge but once I'd propped myself up to a "watching tv in bed" position, I had no issues. Because of my issues with anesthesia and pain management, I wouldnt describe the procedure as completely painfree but I definitely think the benefits far outweigh those few (and brief) painful moments. Updated on 18 May 2021: I woke up yesterday morning with more swelling than the first day I got it done....face was sore in some places. The worst part was swelling around and under my eyes but I had to go to work so I put on some shades and masked up but the swelling began to subside as the day went on (though I continued look like I'd been in a fight and lost). TODAY I woke up with the same swollen places but that went down much faster but now I see light bruising under both eyes. Despite all that, Im starting to recognize the face in the mirror, though I havent seen her in years..... Im really glad I got this done.
At 40 now, I have some nasolabial folds that really bothered me. I felt I’m too young for a facelift and did some research on thread lifts. I wasn’t real sure because I’ve seen such mixed results, but after I found Dr. Mikki I was ready to go for it. Dr. Mikki in Southlake, TX is very nice. Her staff is friendly and communication was great. The facility is beautiful. I expressed my concerns to Dr. Mikki and she explained all about the thread lift and I was very excited. She explained they have barbs and we decided to do long ones that run underneath my chin too as well as the ones going in mid face. The day of I drove myself to her office from home about an hour and a half away. She said the procedure was fast and I could go about my life as usual with the exception of some tightness and that I needed to eat soft foods for a couple of days. When she began the procedure there was no numbing cream or pain medicine given or prescribed. I have two children and the pain I experienced was more horrendous than labor. I get Botox, fillers, etc. in my face but this was a very deep and agonizing pain. I thought I was going to pee myself at one point. It is not a gentle procedure. But after I showed some people the video of her doing the procedure they said it was not supposed to be that rough. Her assistant was nice during the procedure reassuring me that I was doing good and that it looked amazing. Afterwards they showed me a mirror and I almost started crying. I was in so much pain I couldn’t move my mouth. They did offer me a Tylenol though. When I left and got into the car I lost it. I called my husband and told him what happened the best I could. Now, I do not tell my husband the upkeep I do for myself but this was so awful there was no way I could hide it. So, what makes this worse is, my face stayed malformed for about 6 weeks. Luckily I was working from home still and I hid my face with a mask. Dr. Mikki told me to just eat soft foods until I get some movement back in my face, but to be careful because I didn’t want the barbs to pull loose. Then, when I went back for my check-up I asked her why was everything loose and not lifted now and she told me that things like yawning in my sleep can pull the barbs loose. Well that’s unavoidable! My before and after photos showed no significant difference at all, and they never posted my side by side on their social media. I asked her would it get lifted and firmer now and she tried to sell me laser treatments. I really made the biggest mistake by doing this and wasted almost $2,000. I could’ve gotten cheek filler for that. I do not recommend this procedure to anyone, ever. Save your money, get a loan, use multiple credit cards and just go for a facelift or a mini-facelift, or go to an injector specialist that can do a liquid facelift.
