Thread Lift Painful and No Results
Their video I saw on instagram.
At 40 now, I have some nasolabial folds that really bothered me. I felt I’m too young for a facelift and did some research on thread lifts. I wasn’t real sure because I’ve seen such mixed results, but after I found Dr. Mikki I was ready to go for it. Dr. Mikki in Southlake, TX is very nice. Her staff is friendly and communication was great. The facility is beautiful. I expressed my concerns to Dr. Mikki and she explained all about the thread lift and I was very excited. She explained they have barbs and we decided to do long ones that run underneath my chin too as well as the ones going in mid face.
The day of I drove myself to her office from home about an hour and a half away. She said the procedure was fast and I could go about my life as usual with the exception of some tightness and that I needed to eat soft foods for a couple of days.
When she began the procedure there was no numbing cream or pain medicine given or prescribed. I have two children and the pain I experienced was more horrendous than labor. I get Botox, fillers, etc. in my face but this was a very deep and agonizing pain. I thought I was going to pee myself at one point. It is not a gentle procedure. But after I showed some people the video of her doing the procedure they said it was not supposed to be that rough. Her assistant was nice during the procedure reassuring me that I was doing good and that it looked amazing. Afterwards they showed me a mirror and I almost started crying. I was in so much pain I couldn’t move my mouth. They did offer me a Tylenol though. When I left and got into the car I lost it. I called my husband and told him what happened the best I could. Now, I do not tell my husband the upkeep I do for myself but this was so awful there was no way I could hide it.
So, what makes this worse is, my face stayed malformed for about 6 weeks. Luckily I was working from home still and I hid my face with a mask. Dr. Mikki told me to just eat soft foods until I get some movement back in my face, but to be careful because I didn’t want the barbs to pull loose. Then, when I went back for my check-up I asked her why was everything loose and not lifted now and she told me that things like yawning in my sleep can pull the barbs loose. Well that’s unavoidable! My before and after photos showed no significant difference at all, and they never posted my side by side on their social media. I asked her would it get lifted and firmer now and she tried to sell me laser treatments. I really made the biggest mistake by doing this and wasted almost $2,000. I could’ve gotten cheek filler for that. I do not recommend this procedure to anyone, ever. Save your money, get a loan, use multiple credit cards and just go for a facelift or a mini-facelift, or go to an injector specialist that can do a liquid facelift.
