After extensive research, I decided to schedule my rhinoplasty with Dr Eric aka Doc Yappy. I wanted a surgeon who specialised in ethnic noses and didn’t want a pinched nose. He was very cost efficient and it was BEYOND worth it. Best decision I’ve ever made in my life. My surgery was 2200 USD but ended up spending about 4500 in total including medicine, tests, hotel, flights and food. The only negative was nobody really reached out to check on me after the surgery especially as I had travelled to the Philippines on my own. Even when I returned to the states 9 days after my surgery, I didn’t communicate with anyone unless I reached out to them. Other than that, my new nose is absolutely PERFECT and I’m so happy I chose Dr Eric.
I had rhinoplasty and alarplasty with him August 2016. I had my consultation over WhatsApp since I am from Canada, I sent pictures of my profile and he gave me a quote. When I met him, he's very down to earth, funny and makes you feel comfortable. I am over 2 years post-op and I have NO regrets, I love my results, it's so natural.I'd definitely go back to him for anything and I definitely recommend Dr Yap to anyone for his work on rhinoplasty. If you need a reference just follow his IG - his results won't let you down and will definitely change your life. I am so confident now, I take pictures from all angles and I love my new look.
Nearly 90days post op. Scarring around my nostrils is annoying me, I can’t go out without concealer on it but I’m happy with the results and will get laser treatment after 6months post op (something I advise you to budget for if you choose Dr Yapjuanco). My tip is still a bit hard but my nostrils have softened. Dr yappy listened to me when I said I wanted it natural, it literally looks like a better version of my old nose! Which is brilliant but the vanity in me wants it even more snatched but I’ll leave it for a few years before making that decision. I stayed at Pan Pacific Manila hotel, 30mins from the icon clinic in traffic/rush hr. I had a driver which was wonderful as he stayed during my surgery, picked up my prescription from the pharmacy and helped me around. Paid $2000 + $200 deposit & about $80 (but in pesos) for my blood/X-ray tests, $20 (but in pesos) for medication. Staff are lovely! He was very busy so I only saw him twice in my whole 2 weeks there..lol?? Which was on the day of surgery and 8 days post op (my “consultation” was literally 10 mins before I was put to sleep). He didn’t even take out my stitching, the nurse did, he only came to say hello to me and feel the nose then tell me about the healing process. Still happy with the outcome though he could’ve made it cuter, but natural is what I asked for so... my bad. And my ear is horrid ugh, went to a doc over here and they said I will be able to get it reconstructed at 12months post op which I will not be doing, I just can’t be asked to pay and go through it all again. So I’ll just learn to love my fkd up ear. Updated on 19 Jan 2019: The dark strip that was there before is gone and it’s been to be fully closed at the back. The ear is still stiff but I can move ur will my hand a bit and fold it, where as before it was like glass. I still feel it looks deformed, especially compared to my other ear. My nose is healing well but the nostril scars are getting to me.. I literally can’t go out bare faced without someone asking “what happened”. I get little bumps on them which scare me as keloids but I realised when I scrub the area twice a day I don’t get them so I believe it’s down to my oily skin. The tips softened up a little but I still can’t move my nose with my face, like wiggle it and when I make any facial movement the nose literally stays stiff which I ain’t mad at (no wrinkles). Like you’d gotten Botox. So you can’t smile fully without your nose feeling like a rock or pull silky faces. Hoping the scars heal but month 6!
I’ve always wanted to have a smaller and skinnier nose since I was 10 years old. I didn’t have a bridge and my nose was wide and round. To be honest I didn’t do much research about which Doctor I should go to. I just wanted a reliable one. I found Doc Yappy on Instagram and instantly fell in love with his work. I knew he was the one who would give me the results I was hoping for.
This was the best experience ever. I enjoyed my time in Manila and will return again. I love my results so far. Dr. Yappy did a great job (in my opinion). I am truly happy. (After pictures are prior to before). I had this procedure November, 2017. I told him what I wanted and he gave me that. At first I was skeptical, but it turned out nicely. Worth every penny Updated on 22 Jan 2019: Just a quick update. No scarring, im still happy with my results Updated on 25 Jan 2019: I know it’s hard to, but y’all, please trust your process. Don’t over manipulate your surgeries. Don’t over scrub anything like that. Simply keep your surgical incisions clean. Trust me. I’m a RN and have worked in wound care for a while. Here’s some closeups of my scars. I have very oily skin so I had to occasionally push out the extra oils but not everyday or every week as I want the best results possible. Updated on 25 Aug 2019: I know there’s been some back and forth about my provider, but I’m personally happy with my end results. I could say I’d like this and that different but I good with what I got. Almost 2 yeast post op. No regrets and no looking back.
At my age of 55, I thought I will just willingly accept the common notion of aging gracefully. I am so happy to have found out about Dr. Eric Yapjuangco's expertise in image enhancing. My rhinoplasty procedure gave me much more confidence about myself. He leads a professional team who genuinely care.
Hello! I'm getting a nose job finally as I've wanted to get a rhinoplasty since grammar school. I'm 31years old now and I've decided that I'm not getting any younger so here I go! I'm planning my procedure with a well known doc in the Philipenes because he specializes in ethnic rhinoplasties; not that I don't trust the docs here in the US but I came across this doc from a girl on Realself and started my research on Dr. Yapjuanco right away. He has all the creditials and has seen hundreds of patients and their results are super natural and not overly done. I'm scheduled in September so if anyone wants to buddy up feel free to contact me. Updated on 15 Sep 2017: 7 days PO Updated on 19 Sep 2017: Updated on 20 Sep 2017: Updated on 29 Sep 2017: Updated on 29 Sep 2017: The total cost of my rhinoplasty for those who want to know was around $5k- $5500 which included air fair, stay at a luxury hotel, transportation, PO supplies, cost of surgery, food, medication, and other miscellaneous stuff. The quote precisely for my rhinoplasty was quoted to me one year ago at $2000 USD/ 90,000 PHP, however I was told by one of Dr. Yap's coordinator that his services have increased since then. Be it negative or positive feedback, if you can't prove in your review that your surgery actually happened and you then choose to defame, slander, or misrepresent a particular surgeon, shame on you and whoever else involved. Rhinoplasty is something that I have thought about on and off for a while. While I've always been comfortable in my skin, in this age of "pics" I've found that I didn't like the way that my nose looked in pics, so, on a whim I started looking into African American rhinoplasty and found Dr. Eric. When I found him I could not believe his work and immediately wanted to know where he was located and how I could make an appointment with him. When I learned that he was located in the Philippines, I immediately contacted a friend who'd done lots of traveling in the Philippines and asked her what she thought. She loved the Philippines, said that she would go with me, so I began the process of contacting Dr. Yapjuangco to consult and make an appointment for June of 2017. Updated on 26 Jun 2017: Initially when I decided to go to Manila I did so with the intention of meeting a friend, who would fly in from Dubai, there. Unfortunately, months before my travels, my friend decided that she couldn't go. So, I had to make a decision. Would I cancel my plans to have rhinoplasty with the one doctor that I believed would give me the results that I desired, or would I just travel alone???? Well, I am here in Manila, four days post-op, alone. I booked my flight through Expedia. I was very adamant about the fact that I did not want to be in route for a longer period of time than I had to. I wanted to get here asap, and get back home asap. So my flight here was approximately 18 hours with a 1hr55min layover in Tokyo. My flight home is similar. Because I was traveling alone I did not want to depend on a taxi nor Uber to get me to the hotel, so I made arrangements with my hotel to have a shuttle pick me up from the airport. Unlike hotel shuttles in the US, I was charged a fee of $37 for the shuttle ride. I know that $37 may seem like a lot, but my greatest concern was and continues to be my safety. When I arrived at the Manila airport, I grabbed my luggage and went to look for my shuttle ride. Since the shuttle driver was looking for me too, most of the people in the pick up area knew my name and were able to get my driver for me. I am staying in an apartment suite at my hotel. I would rather not name my hotel now since I am still staying here. I will say that my hotel is really nice, accommodating, and in a great location. My mode of travel since being here has been Uber. I Uber back and forward to the hospital, and walk to the supermarket and corner store.
My experience with Dr. Yappy was amazing. He is honest straight forward and gives realistic expecations. His clinic and operating room are clean and sterile environment. While waiting for a check up I even saw a cleaning business arrive. I've never seen that before at a dr office. He is literally the master of ethic rhinoplasty in the world if you ask me. There is no one would have been allowed to touch my face.
Hello! I have been thinking about this for 11 years and I'm finally getting a rhinoplasty! I'm excited yet nervous. I've never had surgery before. After many hours of research I've decided to go with Dr. Eric Yapjuangco in the Philippines! He is amazing at what he does. Check him out on IG Because I'm already making the effort to travel internationally, I figured that I should also do a BBL because I have been thinking about that as well too although it is not as important as my rhino. The total cost of this is going to be about $10k which includes my flight and stay. I need to fly business because I am not going to be able to sit on my butt very long on the way back. Updated on 24 Feb 2017: I decided to upload some of my favorite examples of his work and one goal picture. I feel like I have a similar situation to the male example. One thing that I have been reading on other reviews is the horrible response time and robotic replies! I am quite irritated with this as well. I've already paid my deposit and I don't think it's outlandish to expect more responsive communication. Another concern I am having is that most of Dr. Yapjuangco's patients have flat noses and I have a bigger more European nose that I inherited from my English great grandmother. Everyone in my family has it! Lol. I will post pictures when I go in for my consultation. Updated on 26 Feb 2017: I was really concerned about only getting prescribed ibuprofen. I watched a video on youtube created by a patient of Dr yap and he showed that all he was prescribed was ibuprofen! I brought up my concern with him and said he could prescribe me something "stronger" but did not specify what that meant. My dentist gives me vicodin because I'm such a wuss when it comes to pain! lol Also I sent in my deposit and I didn't hear back from them at all. Has anyone else had this problem with them? Updated on 26 Mar 2017: I really don't know what to do now! I've already paid for everything but I just read that one of Dr. Yapjuangco's patients died. It just happened so I'm not sure of the cause yet but I believe it was a few hours after surgery. I can't imagine what her family is going through right now. I'm so sad for her. Updated on 31 Mar 2017: So after some thought I have decided to keep my faith in Dr. Yapjuangco. From what I have read so far, he followed all the necessary pre-op checks. Surgery is always a risk. Of course if more details come out that implicate negligence on the Icon Clinic's part, then I will need to make another decision. Updated on 6 Apr 2017: Just read an article that Dr. Yap and his team are going to get charged with obstruction of justice among other things. This I assume will result in the closure of the Icon Clinic. I don't know what to do. I read johnjacob123's review on Dr. Torres and I really love his nose. I don't care for Dr. Torres's other rhinoplasty results though.... Anyone know of anyone else in the Philippines? Here is the link for the article:http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/887252/doctors-nurses-in-fatal-lipo-face-raps-for-obstruction-of-justice Updated on 27 Apr 2017: Dr. Yap just posted that the clinic will reopen on May 3rd. How wonderful! I will update when the surgery coordinator confirms my appointment! I was in danger of losing thousands of dollars so I'm happy. Updated on 25 May 2017: Hey guys! Sorry it took so long to post an update; I have been quite busy with my recovery and traveling etc. I'll start with my consultation. So as you probably know Dr. Eric is temporarily at another location called Medcor Pasig. When I arrived there I was a little freaked out. It was hot (a HOT hospital?!?!), dark (the majority of the lights were off), there were tons of flies, and the people who greeted me seemed to not be expecting me. I was having visions of having my organs stolen in this place or something! lol. I arrived at 9 AM like I had been told to. About an hour later I was brought to a random hospital room. The workers were laying down on the hospital bed in that room and they weren't wearing scrubs just plainclothes. It was very odd. Later I came to realize that this was their makeshift waiting room. Dr. Eric didn't arrive until 12!!! This seems to be the time that he shows up to work; I don't know why they tell you to come at 9 when I have never been seen before 11:30. Anyways when I finally met with Dr. Eric we had our consultation and he really wanted me to have the artist's "Zayn's" nose. He seemed very enthusiastic about this recreating his nose for me. I found his enthusiasm kind of cute! lol. Anyways we agreed on a final outcome and said our goodbyes. The day of my surgery I arrived at the hospital on time. In keeping with the tradition of the whole experience, I did not start late until two hours after my scheduled time. I don't really care when I start as long as I look good after everything is done. I understand that this must be a busy time for Dr. Eric and it really wasn't that much of a bother. This review is getting long and I have to leave soon to get my stitches out today (yay!) so I'm going to keep it short. When I woke up my urethra and feet really hurt. They must have shoved a baseball bat up my pee hole because it hurt like a [RS bleep]. I guess my feet were hang off the side of the table or something. I had blood in my urine for about four days afterwards. Swelling wasn't too bad, just looked like Mufasa for awhile. I had a pretty bad fever afterwards and all I was able to do was sleep for a few days. Everyday the swelling goes down and I like my nose more and more. I think he did a great job! Because of the pain, I decided not to do my BBL. I don't think I would be able to handle it. I will post pics later. Updated on 26 May 2017: I would also like to add that Dr. Eric and his staff are GREAT! Everyone is super nice and chill. One of the nurses was singing to me and joking while taking my stitches out to try and distract me. What a sweetheart! I think that once they are back at the Icon Clinic, everything will be perfect. I really am liking my nose more and more everyday! Updated on 31 May 2017: So I went back today to get the rest of my stitches out. Everybody in the waiting room was complimenting my nose! A lovely English girl said I was like the poster child for Dr. Eric! Lol. They all said it looked so natural and they were amazed that it looked so good on Day-9. That really made me feel good! I actually already like my nose and I don't think I want it to get too much smaller but I know it will because I am not even two weeks post-op yet. We'll see how it goes.....I promise I'll post pictures later. I just need to mentally prepare myself for putting myself out there on the internet. It's like my nose changed my life! I took pictures today and I didn't feel like I needed to filter the [RS bleep] out of them or photoshop my nose to look smaller! I am completely happy with myself as I am. I just teared up a bit writing that sentence. I mean of course I would love to lose 20 lbs. and have better hair but I really am happy with my appearance now. It's like weight has been lifted off of my shoulders and can move on with my life now. Dreams really do come true. -Aloha Updated on 9 Jun 2017: I did not have a goretex implant, just cartilage harvested from my ear. I'm very happy with my results, especially considering that I am at 3 weeks exactly today. My chin of course is goretex. Updated on 9 Jun 2017: I also want to add that a big gay queen who had seen me before the surgery saw me in the waiting room two days ago and he started screaming hysterically because he loved my results so much! lol This made a [RS bleep]'s day! He was really out of control! lol Updated on 2 Mar 2018: Just thought I'd update y'all on my nose situation. I [RS bleep] hate it. JK! I love it! Updated on 9 May 2022: I hesitate to write this because I quite like Dr. Yap as a person. However I wish I could go back in time and stop myself from getting a rhinoplasty. I was listening to a rhinoplasty podcast and the Dr. there said there are 2 types of rhinoplasty surgeons: those who make flatter noses taller and skinnier and those who make big noses smaller. Dr. Yap is very much the first; and I think he's quite good at that. This is no surprise because as a doctor in the Philippines flat noses are going to be the primary case type. Unfortunately I already had a tall big nose and I wanted it reduced. My nose causes me more anxiety than it did before I got my rhinoplasty. I get negative comments about my nose all the time. My dentist asked me what happened to my nose. I was getting a pedicure and the nail tech asked where I got my nose job; it wasn't said in a complimentary tone. People on dating apps have laughed and said "Look at your nose!." People at bars comment on it all the time. It's a nightmare! It is skinnier which was an improvement but in order to smooth the bump Dr. Yap raised the rest of my nose to match it. It is unnaturally high now. I originally wanted my bump smoothed down but he said it wasn't possible. The tip of my nose is so bulbous. Now I am looking at having to do a $20k revision. I am not picky I just hate getting all the comments! Updated on 9 May 2022: Omg I wrote a very long review and real self deleted it. I am too lazy to rewrite another one. Basically my nose looks like shit, its changing and friends coworkers and strangers are commenting on it. Updated on 9 May 2022:
