Rhinoplasty is something that I have thought about on and off for a while. While I've always been comfortable in my skin, in this age of "pics" I've found that I didn't like the way that my nose looked in pics, so, on a whim I started looking into African American rhinoplasty and found Dr. Eric. When I found him I could not believe his work and immediately wanted to know where he was located and how I could make an appointment with him. When I learned that he was located in the Philippines, I immediately contacted a friend who'd done lots of traveling in the Philippines and asked her what she thought. She loved the Philippines, said that she would go with me, so I began the process of contacting Dr. Yapjuangco to consult and make an appointment for June of 2017.

Traveling to Manila Philippines for Rhinoplasty with Dr. Eric Yapjuangco

Initially when I decided to go to Manila I did so with the intention of meeting a friend, who would fly in from Dubai, there. Unfortunately, months before my travels, my friend decided that she couldn't go. So, I had to make a decision. Would I cancel my plans to have rhinoplasty with the one doctor that I believed would give me the results that I desired, or would I just travel alone???? Well, I am here in Manila, four days post-op, alone.
I booked my flight through Expedia. I was very adamant about the fact that I did not want to be in route for a longer period of time than I had to. I wanted to get here asap, and get back home asap. So my flight here was approximately 18 hours with a 1hr55min layover in Tokyo. My flight home is similar.
Because I was traveling alone I did not want to depend on a taxi nor Uber to get me to the hotel, so I made arrangements with my hotel to have a shuttle pick me up from the airport. Unlike hotel shuttles in the US, I was charged a fee of $37 for the shuttle ride. I know that $37 may seem like a lot, but my greatest concern was and continues to be my safety.
When I arrived at the Manila airport, I grabbed my luggage and went to look for my shuttle ride. Since the shuttle driver was looking for me too, most of the people in the pick up area knew my name and were able to get my driver for me.
I am staying in an apartment suite at my hotel. I would rather not name my hotel now since I am still staying here. I will say that my hotel is really nice, accommodating, and in a great location.
My mode of travel since being here has been Uber. I Uber back and forward to the hospital, and walk to the supermarket and corner store.

Sorry, but I am just seeing this message. Things are going great! I am adjusting to my new face, and I continue to remind myself that patience is the key.

Are you going to add some pictures soon? I'm torn in between the one and only negative review and my inability to find/see his work. Also, since you're back in the states, would you please add one travel advice?

Hello, because of my job I am somewhat hesitant about sharing photos. If I can figure out a way to do so with total anonymity I will. As far as the reviews, I too was concerned with some of the reviews that I read before going, but I found that the good outweighed the bad here on RS and IG. And once I made my decision I was extremely at peace with going.
I had a great experience with Dr. Yapjuangco.
As far as travel, I went to Manila alone. So I was sure to stay in an area that was deemed safe. I stayed in the Malayan Plaza Hotel in Ortigas which was like a business area. I loved the hotel and staff. They were aware of my solo travels and looked out for me the entire time. I used Uber to commute , which is super cheap... like no more than $3 per ride. I did plan on seeing Manila, but from my personal experience, being a black woman, I stuck out like a sore thumb. Even though most people were extremely nice to me, my instinct told me that I should just chill and stay in the hotel. So that's what I did.
My biggest pieces of advice would be to get cash at the currency exchange in the airport before going, figure out how you will pay for your procedure before going (they don't accept credit cards I paid via PayPal), be aware of your surroundings, and be flexible because things are done a little different there.
I feel like I'm rambling, but hope this helps.
Feel free to inbox me with any other questions.

There is a lot more then one negative review regarding Dr Yap and the clinic, it may be a bit difficult but I would research as much as possible!!! I wish I was made aware of the negatives prior no one goes into surgery ever thinking its going to be them coming out with a botched nose we all have the tendency to compare ourselves to the 'lucky' ones.
When you speak out about it all of a sudden I received numerous messages from people in the same situation as me. Being insecure about a feature for so long, then finally doing something about it trusting someone fully, taking time out of your life , flying to an unknown location, spending money, being so excited for change all to end with something you hate far more then what you already had. It is so emotionally draining and depressing.
Before I disliked my nose but I could live with it now after Dr Yaps intervention I rarely leave my house, I hate looking in the mirror. This is why a lot of unhappy patients don't write reviews, its hard not liking the nose you were born with but you had no say in it knowing you deliberately went out your way and put effort and went under the knife for an appalling outcome is even more detrimental, you'll often find them lingering in comments section of reviews though.
There are loads of amazing surgeons for ethnic noses with less complaints regarding botched surgery, permanent damage from aggressive cartilage grafting, scarring, awful stitching and forced goretex implants.
Have a look at turkey or Belgium perhaps definitely where I will be looking for revision :)
All the best in your journey, x

Yappy is a total fraud. He completely fabricated all my medical records. He gave me a totally fake, inaccurate record.

I'm happy for you, you seem to have been lucky because the way he is butchering faces is ridiculous.
Will you be uploading photos?

There's more than one negative review. They're in tagalog on pinoyexchange. You'll have to do a lot of google translate to find them.
