After being diagnosed with DCIS for the second time I was told I could not have another lumpectomy. I consulted with a few friends and my surgeon that did the original lumpectomy. I made the choice to have a bilateral mastectomy which gave me a 90% success rate of the breast cancer not returning. I was given a few options, one of them being a DIEP flap. The idea of using my own tissue to create more normal looking breasts was an option I looked in to. I was given Dr. Jablonka's name as a highly recommended surgeon that is well know for this procedure. I had this done back in April 2024. I will have the cosmetic surgery very soon. Dr. Jablonka and his staff have been VERY helpful and supportive. I have never met a doctor with the bedside manner he has and the time he took to explain the procedure and what to expect. Extremely concerned about this patients. After the DEIP flap surgery I had a blood clot form. I was in his office having my drains removed and both he and his (fabulous) nurse, Stephanie took one look and knew what was wrong. He sent me to the ER where I was admitted. I had to stay overnight. The next morning Dr. Jablonka came to see me to check on me. I was so impressed, with all he has going on, that he would stop in and check on me. If you are EVER considering this procedure, I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Jablonka. I have recommended several people to him and all of them have chosen him to help them with their journey. I hope you do to. You will not be disappointed.
I’ve been seeing Dr. Jablonka for my breast reconstruction situation since May of 2022. He has treated me with respect and compassion. The staff has been terrific and their support has made a huge difference in my recovery. I can’t thank Dr. Jablonka enough for the changes he has made in my life.
MY STORY: I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in both Breast. I was also Diagnosed with Follicular Lymphoma at the same time. I decided to do a total mastectomy. My Breast Surgeon sent me to see a Plastic Surgeon (NOT Dr. Jablonka) I wanted to do the Diep Flap Surgery using MY own Tissue. The Surgeon told me the healing time for the Diep Flap would be excessive (It was not). Since I had to have Kemo for the Follicular Lymphoma, I was on a time crunch, so I let him talk me into Breast Implants. Which I found to be VERY uncomfortable. My body rejected one of the implants and the Doctor removed them and placed a smaller set of implants in. My Body also rejected the smaller ones. The Doctor removed my implants, and I had to let my body heal so I could have Kemo. My chest so was scared and ugly. I hated to see myself in the mirror. I hated for my husband to see me. I thought that was the way I would have to live forever. My Breast Surgeon met Dr. Jablonka. He knew I wanted the Diep Flap, so he sent me to meet with Dr. Jablonka. That was a GOD thing for me. Dr. J. performed the Diep Flap Surgery and put all the pieces back together. I now have soft warm breast, and they are beautiful. The healing actually took less time than trying to heal from the implants. On top of that, he took the fat from my abdomen. I have a flat tummy. Best Tummy Tuck EVER!! He is a perfectionist making sure you have the very best outcome possible. I truly believe God led me to his door. I am thankful every day for him. Not only is he wonderful, his entire staff has also been great to me. I think I’ll call them family! LOVE all YA'LL!! LIZ you are the Best!! Debbie H.
Liz and Dr. Jablonka are your medical dream team. I recommend everyone who is battling breast cancer or undergoing a preventive surgery at least consult with Jablonka first. I come over from the Peninsula but the commute is worth it. I have always had my questions or concerns answered in a timely manner, not that you have anything to be concerned about when you are in their hands. I am actually NOT looking forward to the day when I am no longer an active patient.
This doctor changed my life! I suffer from severe back pain due to a car accident and with having 38DDD’s that weight didn’t make dealing with back pain any better. Now I’m down to a full C post op day 7 and I already feel the difference. Recovery is not as bad as I thought it would be. Him and his staff made me feel so comfortable before, during and after. They are simply Angels in my eyes. As long as you follow their post op instructions you should be fine. The scars are not as bad as I thought either. I’m glad I went through with this
My appt was scheduled December 18,2020 @1pm. I was super excited I had previously had my consultation with this office and met my surgeon. Everything was going well until about a week later my stitches started to bust , my follow up appt was coming up in like 2 days so I waited to see him. My appt comes he says everything is fine. A couple days later the wound was fully open and exposed I called and was asked to email pictures. I did and was told everything is fine continue to keep it clean and pat dry. It got worse I called again spoke with the PA and she told me the same thing. Saturday January 3rd I ended up in the hospital, I was put on antibiotics and that I needed to call Monday and make an appt with my surgeon ASAP. After making my appt I go there Tuesday and the PA tells me that I have blood that clotted on my left breast ie why it was still swollen , my breast were still bruised, stitches busted open. She drained what she could from the clotted blood and said they could not stitch me back up so I would have to let it heal naturally. To this day my breast is still very numb and bruised. I’m not sure I made the right decision about my surgeon , I can’t even be happy about my process. I’ve been out of work for 4 weeks. Updated on 12 Jan 2021: This is over the weekend I took a picture a day , I sent them to the Physician assistant who told me that I’m fine , to just keep it clean and guaze it. Which I have been doing and this is the same result. At this point I’m frustrated, upset , I fully regret this surgery. Updated on 14 Jan 2021: I had an appointment today with my surgeon & he finally saw how bad it was. After my visit to the ER I had only met with the PA. He recommended another surgery to clear the hematoma , clean it, & close me back up. Updated on 9 Feb 2021: This picture is now after 2 additional surgeries. My doctor kept telling me because I was a long time smoker that this is what would happen. I ended up with 2 infections each time after I left the hospital (no smoking) . After the 3rd surgery I felt better I’m still a work in progress with my healing.
Hello, ladies. Made a promise to myself to post a review to pay foward all those brave and generous ladies who post before me. I, too, shall share my recent experience @ Mt Sinai PS clinic. Sorry dont have my pics ready. Will post after my PO Exam tomorrow. I'll ask what got done. Feel tired n puffy, too much pain meds. Hope all you gals are doing great. Please take care of yourselves. Yeeeeaaaahhh! Updated on 16 Feb 2018: Yes,l followed Pradagals review and got an consult in Jan 10,2017. To make an appointment, it feels really shady, like it some kind of scam. BC at that time, the receptionists dont know anyrhing, the name of the dr, how much the visit, is the price really 3814.15?? , etc. They just book the consult. And if you look on the website, not much. They get booked quickly, and eventually l got jan 10. Since l wasnt sure to get sx there since there is no pamplet, papers or anything about their PS clinic, Dr J told me come back to reconsult Jan 27. (So ladies, prepare your questions, wants in advance, list , so you dont forget bc they are so cute, and dazzle u. Lol) Sidenote: l asked, they do all types body contouring, MM, TT, BL/BA, BBL,Lipo, THIGH LIFT, Also all types,of FL.. HI SMAS, LOW SMAS, EXTENDED SMAS, and others depending on what needs to be lifted. BLEPHS, Temporal BL, BL, RHINO, NECK LIFT, NECKLIPO, CHIN IMPLANT. I guess whatever else but these, were my interests. Everything in the same area is done for the smae price. Alot or alittle. So the BA is not competitive unless it is combined with other procedures. Since u pay for each implant. Every 3 AND 4 WK OF JANUARY, the resident dr in rotation goes to do facial PS sx in South America, so DONT book an Consultation appt then, especially if traveling from out of town. You ll get the 5 yr resident and will have to rebook when he comes back. The clinic for consult looks like a hospital waiting roomno frills. But dont be alarm, it is legit, the clinic is also used by Orthopedics, and orthro hand n leg, so no all those ppl arent for consult. Lol You pay $200 and leave ur id w/ reception to registar u in. Every JULY, the new 3 RESIDENT rotation starts, 1st new 6th yr resident-JULY -SEPT, 2nd new 6yr resident OCT-DEC, then the 1st back JAN-MARCH, then the,2nd back APRIL-JUNE. Unfortunately RS site wont upload. GLITCH. l consulted w/ Dr.Jablonka, for my saggy jowls, and squared lower face. I booked for sx 3/16 for Updated on 5 Mar 2018: Sorry for the delay. Got some pics out of my old phone. Other one is drying out. Updated on 5 Mar 2018: Somehow the before pics did not post. On Thrus, l was supposed to go in @ 1ish. But end up going in sx @ 6 pm and l was starving and dehydrated. Out of sx @ 9pm. Was in recovery @ 11pm. DH rushed to the hospital, thinking l was ready to leave. He waited 2 hrs when they wheeled me into recovery area. (DH stayed till 4am, l told him to go home and ld call him when l was able. Then l was so nauseous n in pain l ended up staying till 6am the next day. They give u anti nausea med wh makes u sleep and the pain med too so it was a never ending cycle. ( This is a hospital so there is no rush to leave until you are able to sit up and get dressed.) Luckily, l had the nurse call the dr to remove my drains and rewrap me in recovery b/c l wouldn't be able to make it to clinic @ 1pm. I was able to walk to discharge area and waited until shift change @ 8 am.Drank a small cup of juice and vomited like the exorcist into the blue striped bag. Where all that came from is a mystery since l didn't eat since Wednesday. Lol Updated on 5 Mar 2018: For some reason, they didn't all post Updated on 5 Mar 2018: Here is some more pics of the stitches and staples. The dr cut the incisions in the targus all the way in the hair above the ears, (look carefully to see the staples ) and in the back up my ears (stitches) and angled down across the near and in the neck hairline (staples) The stitches in front of ears, and chin stitches were removed. The staples stayed. So itchy. Updated on 6 Mar 2018: @ 1wkPO the incision scars were red but overall unoticable. The back was a bit unsettling, the scars were crusty bumpy and angry. It felt like cystic pimples rising on the scars, hurt. Dr said tissue necrosis is a possibility behind the ears especially since the tissue is thin and stretched, poor blood supply, leave it alone will heal up. I didn't believe it and surfed around Real Self and was a bit comforted. BUT when it happens to YOU, not a happy camper. Also the stapled incisions on brow, above ears, along back toward neck would sometimes feel squishy get raised. When l got,get it checked out, they would be flatten. Updated on 6 Mar 2018: I couldn't figure out what was wrong, when l wore my compression wrap l looked great tounger. But when l took it off after a shower, l looked older, not me. My NL and ML were still there. @clinic l told the dr l was happy with the chin implant and neck line but the lines. I must have hurt his feelings cause he called me particular He put Juvaderm XC 4 syringes into the NL and ML. Told me to gently massage flatten it out if l felt it was too full. Also didn't guarantee it would stay in the ML since there is no boney foundation to keep it there. It lasted 6 months for me. On average 1 1/2 yrs. Updated on 7 Mar 2018: I really freaked out when l felt weird crust and then more when l saw a pic of it. Dr saw it and said let it heal. Here is a pic of what's happen. By the 6wk it was healed and not noticable. Updated on 7 Mar 2018: By May 2017, the resident Dr who originally dud my sx had left and l went to his co-resident Dr finishing in June. (During this time, l couldn't figure out why l looked older and it seemed my jowls were still there. In an RS update email, there was a post on an chin implant, where it made her look manly and weird when she smiled. I was fortunate enough to see the pics before the poster took off her review. I figured out it was my chin implant that had made me look manly. On PS instagram there was a pic of the chin crease (labia mental fold) when deepen ages a face. Yeah that was me too, l had a noticeable crease before and that deepened with the implant. ) Remember to do your research on procedures before hand, and read the not sure and not worth it reviews. And r evision reviews, so you know what to ask prior to sx. Well that Dr seemed reluctant to do the removal sx once finding out it was a MEDPOR not silicon implant. Told me it was too soon but l said l had a sx date in June, 3 MPO but since l saw in his face the reluctance, l did what he suggested and booked a 6MPO followup appt. I was angry @ myself, for not just telling him to be up front if not wanting to do it but what would that have done. Thus just made me sadder and wanting too hide from everyone l knew. What bothered me was everyone in the clinic thought l looked great, even some RSers @ clinic, my DH and kids did too. But what MATTERS is what l think. When l explain. And show my pics ppl understand it is a slight change but it make a difference. NO ASIAN woman has a prominent chin, squared, pbly looked worse since my lower face is,wide already and a fatty chin pad and deep labia mental groove. Seroiusly, l had only myself to blame. What l imagined is not what reality is. I rushed into it last minute decision to do, trying to save time n money. Instead of researching and just doing what l orginally had in mind l went overboard, letting my insecurities about my chin override my rationale. Waiting game. Updated on 8 Mar 2018: By this time, l felt really self conscience and avoided any get together pics and talked in profile or a step behind on the side of someone, so they couldn't see my full face man chin. Honestly, looking back what a waste of effort and time in my life. Should of not, cared and forged on. To me, it was so horrible, pbly asian would look @me wondering, something not quite right, possibly a Trans or man trying to be a gal. But overall ppl would not have noticed. In NYC, there is a variety of ethnicities, and faces. I just couldn't get use to the prominent chin, it to ME changed who l perceived to be me. To be fair to the dr, here are some photos. It was not what l wanted. The neck was tight, there is a nice jawline, no loose chin skin. The addition of the chin implant did put lessemphasis,on my jowls area. Updated on 8 Mar 2018: @this point, l am now seeing the new 6th yr resident. Everyone thinks,it's great but me. I wanted the chin implant out. I felt bc the implant took up the slack in the, lower jaw area, they couldn't put the skin tighter since it would cause stress lines, from lips towards the ears. Of course everytime l go, my face is plump, swollen and no sagging. But l showed the pics and what l didn't like. Of course they're booked and l have to come, back in Sept. (6MPO ) hopefully my face is not swollen and muscles, more relaxed. Updated on 12 Mar 2018: On last week of Sept, l went to clinic again. By this time, l was a bit frustrated w/ the slowness of everything. I really wanted the chin implant out, it didn't enhance my face but aged it. It made the NL, ML, chin crease deeper, since the chin projected out so much. Made every thing that was lower than the chin implant look sunken in, loss of volume. It stretched out my lower lip and l looked constantly "puss face", looking upset. DH always saying "why u angry? What now?!" Pursing his lips. Honestly l felt bad, so l gained 10+ lbs and stayed inside. @clinic, again they told me how great l looked. I said u forgot why l'm here. I want it out, l look like a Trans asian male. Asian ppl look @ me funny. No Asian woman has a squared wide projecting chin. Plus these pouches of "whatever are still here on my jaw line, the thing l was here in the first place for. I was trying to get booked for a sx date bc thus coming back again and again was wasting my time. I wasn't going to like my chin implant the longer time went on. Plus l was afraid longer the MEDPOR CHIN IMPLANT was in the more tissue in growth there would be, therefore more difficult to remove, possible more complications--ptosis, pitting, loose mentalist muscle. Of course since it was the end if his 3 month rotation, he told me to come back in Jan, when he returns. Why they couldn't book sx date for me, l was angry and sad. I was tempted to go elsewhere but just chin removal alone would have cost over $3K, so l decide to wait till Jan 2018. HIS EVALUTION he didn't want to revise the muscular part of the FL. (It felt tight underneath to me , so l agreed) But he would undermine the skin on lower face and chin and tighten it. Me whatever that pocket of puffiness on jowls l wanted it gone. He recommended smaller implant to prevent ptosis or a unfavorable outcome if my lower chin neck area. I agreed to look for the smallest projected chin implant. I was angry @myself for not getting a sx date and was thinking to go to the next resident Dr to get it out. But since l knew he was meticulous and was @my initial sx, l stuck w/ him.And waited for Jan 2018. Updated on 13 Mar 2018: In Jan l spoke w/ the resident who recommended a smaller implant to fill the cavity of my medium implant. He felt the result would not be optimal w/o one, poss ptosis, witches chin, wrinkly, pity and also my chin/neck skin on my jaw and under chin neck skin would be loose. So l asked for what brand and style, and to let me think about it. I persisted until l got a sx date since l was 100% sure l was going to get an explant and wasn't going to change my mind. Plus l wanted at least the one month PO to be w/ him, at least. I learned chin implants even made by the same comp vary in projection even if the label is small. Implantech makes, silicon one piece, stryker makes 2 piece MEDPOR (porous, polyethylene) chin implants. I was considering implantech curvilinear and anatomical, and medpor contour and button. I was leaning toward MEDPOR contour since the projection was only 3mm. Others were 4mm plus Updated on 13 Mar 2018: Here is the other chin implant options Stryker MEDPOR polyethylene porous 2 piece Contoured or button chin. In Medpor, l was leaning towards the contoured since it has the smallest (3mm) projection w/ the wings trimmed. Even their button implant (4mm) small was bigger. THE ONE I HAVE IS THE TWO-PIECE CHIN IMPLANT MEDIUM (7MM) w wings trimmed off. Updated on 19 Mar 2018: At 11MPO, l'm finally going to get an explant and whatever tightening they need to do to remove my saggy jowl pouches, and loose skin after explant. I shoe up @registar and sign in. And wait, until 1/2 hr later, they call me to review procedures and payment. (If it your first time here, you pay in advance, credit card accepted. Lol) It was $3814. If you get implants, or other accessories , that's,extra. REMEMBER TO DISCUSS COST @ CONSULT. so there is no surprises. When l was considering a replacement implant, it was $198, but wasn't told @ consult, so it was a surprise. I waited another 1/2 hr, until they call your name to head to the back for intake. IF YOU GET YOUR PRE OP TEST DONE BY YOUR DR, MAKE SURE YOU BRING A COPY, IN CASE THEY DON'T HAVE IT IN YOUR FILE. HAPPENED TO ME. Get dressed in gown and sit for hours, till they call you again to walk towards the OR WAITING AREA. They have wifi, mt sinai guest. All your belonging are left in the recovery area. In the OR waiting area, you sit in your gown and netted cap, n peds. Watching HGTV,l sat for 2+hrs there. There is a nurse there, so you can inquire what time, your,dr will be available for sx. Thankfully this time, was scheduled for 12, in by 2ish, so not bad. Here the or nurse reviews all procedure n your bame, then anesthiologist does the same.REMEMBER TO REMIND ANESTHIOLOGIST, IF GET NAUSEA W/ GA. He told me also a positive thought, that he'll do a good job and l ll be fine helos. It did. Then the dr, dr taub, and how many 4th, 5th yr,resident show up. I had 3 residents, observing. We went over what l wanted done, and express my concern about loose chin skin and droop from once implant is gone and my pouches of jowls. So the plan was to explant, tighten loose skin, and lipo jowl area and under chin. Walked to the OR, he marked my pouches, and off to sleep l went. Woke up in recovery. I posted pics of the waiting areas and recivery. Updated on 20 Mar 2018: Here are the pics from surgery day. The "grumpy" me waiting in the pre-sx area. Behind me is the register desk. Waiting for them to call me to review my sx detail cost and collect $$.( The first time, they collect $$ before l showed up on sx day. I think l paid a few days before, by credit card. On sx day, they reviewed costs and gave me the receipt.) The second is the waiting area, where you sit until they call your name and into intake area. The 3rd is my lovely intake room, where l sat for hours. At least they go free wifi. " Mt sinai guest" but l didn't get phone service, had to go out close to the waiting area. Ugh. I have t mobile. Sorry no op waiting room, all my stuff was in sealed blue striped bags left in recovery area. Here is the lovely recovery area l woke up to with no nausea! Hurray! There is a nurse in charge of your care. If you need something, ask.(IF YOU FIND YOURSELF NAUSEA AND IN PAIN THERE IS NO HURRAY TO LEAVE. JUST STAY TILL YOU ARE ABLE TO SIT UP AND GET DRESSED, AND WALK.) THIS RECOVERY AREA "CLOSES" AROUND 11PM BUT IF YOU STILL NOT YOURSELF, THEY WHEEL YOU TO THE OTHER AREA, WHERE YOU CAN RECOVERY W/ A NURSE IN CHARGE OF YOU. DON'T WORRY Here l am. Yay, no man chin! I was able to get dressed and go to the bathroom by 9pm and, felt great, no nausea or pain, so l called my DH to come pick me up. And to call me when he was here. They "close" the, area l'm in @11pm, so the nurse told me to have my DH drive to 5th Ave entrance and an orderly wheeled me to the car. Yeah. (BUT a man next to me was in pain so they wheeled him to the other recovery area. Fear NOT, they don't throw you out. ) yah!!
