Not Sure I Made the Right Decision in my Doctor

MarquittaReneeW
My appt was scheduled December 18,2020 @1pm. I was super excited I had previously had my consultation with this office and met my surgeon. Everything was going well until about a week later my stitches started to bust , my follow up appt was coming up in like 2 days so I waited to see him. My appt comes he says everything is fine. A couple days later the wound was fully open and exposed I called and was asked to email pictures. I did and was told everything is fine continue to keep it clean and pat dry. It got worse I called again spoke with the PA and she told me the same thing. Saturday January 3rd I ended up in the hospital, I was put on antibiotics and that I needed to call Monday and make an appt with my surgeon ASAP. After making my appt I go there Tuesday and the PA tells me that I have blood that clotted on my left breast ie why it was still swollen , my breast were still bruised, stitches busted open. She drained what she could from the clotted blood and said they could not stitch me back up so I would have to let it heal naturally. To this day my breast is still very numb and bruised. I’m not sure I made the right decision about my surgeon , I can’t even be happy about my process. I’ve been out of work for 4 weeks.

I am so sorry for your experience. At this point (not a doctor) I would seek another provider so you can receive proper care. Infections and blood clots are serious learn concerns minus the ascetics of your breasts. Wishing you all the best in our recovery and thank you for sharing your story.

This is HORRIBLE!!! Did you find the Dr. on RealSelf? I would post his/her name to warn others. How are you feeling now?

Oh my goodness!! I hope your healing progresses, Sis. I would advise the insurance company too! See if there’s anything they can do to assist in seeing another Surgeon. More than likely you will have to heal first. This sounds like a nightmare!

Good idea I didn’t even think to contact my insurance but I sure will ! This is a complete nightmare I wish I didn’t have this surgery at this point

I regret my surgery

MarquittaReneeW
This is over the weekend I took a picture a day , I sent them to the Physician assistant who told me that I’m fine , to just keep it clean and guaze it. Which I have been doing and this is the same result. At this point I’m frustrated, upset , I fully regret this surgery.

I won't pretend it doesn't look bad BUT please try and stay positive. There is so much healing your body will do over the next two years and these images will feel like a unbelievably distant memory compared to your final result. It really does look like a clean wound that could heal very nicely in a matter of weeks. You have every right to be concerned as I can only imagine how upsetting this is, but this may still be a very successful outcome given time. As long as you stay healthy and avoid an infection, your body will do it's best. Wishing you a speedy recovery! Here for you.

I am so sorry you are going through this. I can only Imagine the frustration over this .please see another surgeon and get a second opinion. It may take time to heal but at least to have a piece of mind that its on the right track. Best of luck to you with healing , please update later

Thank you and I for sure will

You need to go to the hospital. Your incisions look like you have an infection. You absolutely do not want for any bacteria to get into your bloodstream which could result in sepsis.

Brief update

MarquittaReneeW
I had an appointment today with my surgeon & he finally saw how bad it was. After my visit to the ER I had only met with the PA. He recommended another surgery to clear the hematoma , clean it, & close me back up.

I would like to ask you some questions. Would you be open for that?? I had the surgery too
January 15, 2021
Yes

I hope you are doing much better, now that the Dr. Did a clean up and restored you.
I am still healing but slowly. I am now 10 wks out from surgery. I still have one area where my breast and chest meet that is wide open, and deep. The PN keeps telling me the same thing too. Looks good, keep up what you are doing. SMH, I'm getting Fed up too. No real shape or profile to my breasts.
Are yours at least shaped fully, and feeling less pain?
Can you lay down in bed to sleep without feeling it pulling like its going to tear open?
Thanks again
Ingrid

I am currently going through the same situation. I am only 6 weeks post op and my left breast is also VERY VERY stubborn. My surgeon is A1 and I trust him, but sometimes our body do what it want to do. My doctor did not use drains after surgery which kinda caused a lot of my drainage. It was horrible! 2 weeks i thought i was the sh*t going from a 38 H to a C cup but oh i was humbled shortly after lol. I noticed a lot of women of color go through this. I did a lil homework. I had a lot of fat necrosis which I was a little happy bkus i started loosing inches lol. Its so bad i use panty liners. It held more and were cheaper and hurt less changing them out. Finally this past Monday he stitched up the opened wound due to it almost splitting completely open. I have less necrosis going on and have to change only 2 times a day now. The office trip saved me 1 surgery and i just have 1 to go. The wound was very healthy no infection thank God. I can't blame my surgeon due to how my body react to certain things. Im not diabetic which was his main concern. I have an autoimmune disease and my chemo basically fights against my healing as well. Despite those things i believe my healing process would still be the same. I will start posting my story once i have my 2nd surgery and update my progress. I pray you have a speedy and healthy progress. Feel free to contact me!

I didn’t have drains either & this was my first serious surgery. I went from a G to C & my left breast is now completely split at this point. I go in for another surgery January 26

I had a Hysterectomy that was ok. I thought i had made a mistake. The recovery was so much better than most bkus it was vaginal and laproscopic. I had a little nerve damage but that was all. This surgery beats everything! I'm glad that you're going to finally have the surgery. I bust my stitches in less than a week so i guess that I will have to have 2 surgeries. I just sent a msg to my doctor now waiting on a response. Covid is horrible so i refuse to go to the hospital
