Lower Facelift and Upper Blepharoplasty

I’ve waited to post a review until I was able to fully assess my recovery and how I would look over time. I had a lower face lift and upper blepharoplasty in July 2022, so it’s been 15 months since the surgery. I remain completely thrilled with the outcome. I am in my mid 50s and look at least 10 years younger than my age. But, at the same time, I look completely natural - not overly tight and none of my features look “different” than before the surgery. Instead of obvious facelift surgery, I look well rested and younger. My nasolabial folds, marionette lines and jowls are gone and the loose “gobbler” skin under my chin has tightened up (I’m not sure how since I did not require an incision in the chin, but Dr. Roswell’s technique resulted in that issue being resolved without the chin incision.) I didn't experience a drastic change in my eyelids since the upper blepharoplasty was a more minor procedure to deal with a small bit of laxity in the upper lid and removal of a slight fat pad in the upper corners of both eyes.

I was worried about how the incisions would look, but I can’t detect the scars and my hair stylist told me that she can’t see the scars either. I can feel them a bit behind the ears, but even with my hair pulled back in a ponytail, they aren’t visible. The eyelid scars are undetectable.

I didn’t have pain during recovery, so I only needed Tylenol for slight headaches. Sleeping was uncomfortable as expected, but I found that Tylenol PM helped a bit. I just resigned myself to the fact that my sleep would be impacted for a week or two.

The only tough part of recovery was looking at my swollen face for almost two weeks. I have to admit that I was worried that the swelling might not go down and I would look like an alien for the rest of my life. Fortunately, the swelling subsided at about two weeks, with slight bruising for an additional week after that. I did have an issue with a portion of one of my eyelid incisions not healing as quickly as the rest of the incision, but Dr. Rodwell treated it in the office and it resolved on its own about two weeks after surgery.

Dr. Rodwell’s demeanor is wonderful. At the consultation, I was instantly comfortable with him and his bedside manner. He even came out to my home the day after surgery for the post surgical check up. His office staff are welcoming and wonderful. The office feels more comfortable and personal than a typical cosmetic surgery office and there was never any pressure put on me to consider procedures that I didn’t need.

I highly recommend Dr. Rodwell and his entire team if you are a patient considering a cosmetic procedure.
