Physical Recovery Was Way Easier Than Mental Recovery

I’ve been thinking about getting a TT ever since my last child was born. I had an emergency c-section and ended up also having an emergency hysterectomy. It was a very traumatic experience but knowing that I was done having children made me more inclined to have this procedure. I did consult with several doctors but landed on Dr. Robbins due to his experience and multiple board certifications. I had an Abdominoplasty with lip of flanks. The day of surgery, the car ride home (2.5 hours) was terrifying. I felt my heart racing and I had to force myself to focus on my breathing (I was likely having a panic attack). The next day, I felt like I couldn’t breathe and went to the emergency room. Everything checked out fine. The day after, I went back again because I had another panic attack and was convinced that there was something seriously wrong. For the first week and a half, the panic attacks came and went. Nighttime was the worst, and I hardly slept. The one-week follow up appointment went really well - no issues and the drains came out without much pain. I followed up with my GP who prescribed some anxiety meds. I used them at nighttime and only for a couple of days. By 2 weeks the panic attacks had subsided and I felt like a totally different person. I’m now about 4 weeks out and feel great. There’s still some swelling around the incision site, and a couple of hard lumps on my side where he performed liposuction. I’m rotating between the binder and a couple different compression garments. I’m excited to see the results after the swelling and lumps dissipate, especially after that hellish first week and a half.

Doctor’s pictures

Here are the official pics from the doctor’s office. I am so happy to be done with the binder! I’m still slightly concerned with the bulge between the bottom of my rib cage. I doubt it’s swelling at this point, so hopefully now that I can get back to working out it will go down a bit. I also still have some lumpiness on the one side - hoping it doesn’t turn into fibrosis. Things are still a bit tight when I straighten out but I’m sure as I get more active they’ll stretch back out. The scar is looking fantastic. No sign of necrosis.
