QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Do you have to wait for fillers to wear off before having facelift?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

It is not necessary to wait until fillers or botox have worn off the have a facelift. Fillers and surgery accomplish different things and are often used in conjunction with each other to achieve a more youthful appearance. As we age we loose the fullness that we had as a child and young adult. The fat in our faces diminishes and also sags. Our skin becomes thinner and loosens. The combination of loss of volume and the sagging of cheeks, jowls and neck is what ages us. We can restore the youthful look by tightening and repositioning loose skin and underlying structures with a facelift and by restoring volume to the face with fillers. I will often start with some facial filler followed by a facelift, or will have someone return for facial filler in the month or two following a facelift.

Just started derma rolling with .5 on face, can I do my nose? And hands?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
A derma roller can be used on any area of the body, however some areas have thinner skin than others and less fat. The nose is difficult to roll and can be somewhat uncomfortable, but it is safe. Consider treating the hands every few days until your skin gets more used to the roller and try pressing a little lighter on the thin skin of the hands.

Any suggestions for Tear troughs? (photos)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
The tear trough hollowness that you have is in many cases a hereditary problem and can absolutely be treated with injectable fillers such as restylane or restylane silk. Because this is an " off label" use for injectable fillers make sure that you go to a very experienced injector who knows the anatomy of the area very well and does these types of treatments regularly such as a board certified facial plastic surgeon.

Can a facelift be performed after having a "life style lift" procedure?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
Revision facelifts are quite common after having a "life style lift". Most facelifts should not require revision for 10 - 15 years, but in the case of the lifestyle lift, you may not have had a procedure that provided those lasting results. Secondary procedures are quite safe if performed by a board certified facial plastic surgeon or board certified general plastic surgeon.

What to do if Thermi RF caused a blister/burn?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
You should call the physician that performed your procedure and have him/her look at the area and advise about appropriate treatment. Burns can occur at too high of a setting in areas where the skin is thin. It will most likely resolve if treated properly. Best of Luck to you.

How can I fix these wrinkles? Should I get a mini lift? (Photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)
You appear to be a good candidate for muscle relaxation injections in your central lower forehead (glabella) with Botox or a similar product. If the folds persist then fillers can be added as needed however there are some dangers in injecting in that area. If you're not already using therapeutic skin care products I would suggest daily lipid soluble Vit A products like retinol palmitate which is far less irritating than Retin A combined with daily sunscreen. You might also consider an intense pulsed light (IPL, Photofacial) to remove some of the solar induced pigmentation. You certainly don't need surgery or a mini-lift. As always consult a highly qualified board certified facial plastic surgeon or dermatologist. Best of luck.

Facelift, neck lift and filler - nailed it!

I've always had a genetically thick neck. So two years ago I received liposuction on my neck and jowls which left me with sagging skin. I found myself avoiding eye contact with people and I stopped flirting with my husband. Basically stopped going out unless it was absolutely necessary. I was in a funk. And fixing my loose skin was going to hopefully return me back to my former happy outgoing self. I got a quote from the same doctor that did my first procedure. Applied for care credit, put 25 percent down and scheduled the appointment. Updated on 26 Nov 2021: I'm not sure why I've read so many posts about the procedure not being painful, because it it. Ouch! The swelling is completely normal but extremely intense. My incision sites were hot, hard and tight. I thought my suture might burst. But it slowly beginning to go down on day four. I'm slowly getting a glimpse of what is yet to come. No more double chin. Updated on 28 Nov 2021: Wow, what a week. My Lord, when they tell you to clear your schedule and plan on resting for the week. They mean it. It's been a rollercoaster week emotionally and physically. My surgeon wife who's an RN and reeks of knowledge and experience did my prop consult. I remember her saying "for some reason people always call on the third day with all the panic over the swelling". To tell you the truth that's the day you will look the most like Yoda, but that's normal". I kept that in mind this past week and it's gotten me through the doubts of if I did the right thing, and I can already see the results. The hardest is over. But I still have months of healing left before I see the optimal results. Updated on 19 Dec 2021: Wow almost four weeks post op and I could t be more pleased with my results. I feel like my old self! I feel like I have a second chance at life. I no longer feel self conscious. I no longer avoid eye contact. I feel beautiful. Updated on 23 Aug 2023: I can't stress enough if you're thinking about whether you should do it or not, to just go for it. I had truly lost my mojo I was feeling older than I was now I am happier than I've ever been more satisfied with my looks than I've ever been and feeling beautiful at 50. I can't stress enough how important it is to make sure and find a well-researched board certified surgeon. I feel like mine was a true miracle worker and was willing to work on me with a BMI over 30. Which was hard to find.

Natural Look - No Squint Lines Here!

I started about 10 years ago with Botox and my provider switched me over to Dysport. I've very happy with the product and because I have maintained consistent applications my visits are about 4 to 5 months apart. The cost is very reasonable, I've never had any bad reaction and I like the way my face looks!

Lower Facelift

Glad I Did It!

Dr Hayes and his staff were outstanding! They are extremely professional and at the same time very personable and supportive. The procedure was explained at length, the video helped immensely in the preparation, and all my questions were answered thoroughly. Dr Hayes limits his practice to head and neck so I was confident in his expertise, and I could not be more satisfied. I had a lower face lift and the results are exactly what I hoped for - younger looking but completely natural. The procedure was not painful for me and the recovery was very quick, as I followed the pre and post op instructions strictly. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Dr. David Hayes is the Best for Facelift & Eyes!

Excellent! The staff is very kind, comforting, and knowledgeable in every aspect. From the consultation to the post op checkups and any questions in-between. Dr. Hayes is so amazing. I didn't want to look drastically different or fake. I just wanted to look naturally younger. He assured me he would not go overboard and he did just that. I am so happy with my new face! Everyone tells me how great I look and they can't even tell what I had done. I love that!

Pleased with my new look

Dr. Hayes and his staff were very attentive and informative. They repeatedly (in consult, pre-op, and the day of surgery) reviewed the steps of my procedure so I was sure to understand and given plenty of opportunity to ask questions. There were multiple post-op visits, which was very comforting to me. I am happy with his recommendations and the results.

S.K.T.

41 Yr Old Female with Hereditary Double Chin.

I lost 32lbs hoping my double chin would go away, but it didn't budge. It's not terrible, but it still bothers me. I'm a healthy weight now, I take great care of my skin & I don't want my chin aging me. My jaw wasn't defined & I was carrying some fat under the chin as well. I had my chin lipo procedure done yesterday. It was done in office, I was given a prescription to keep me calm & my chin was numbed with lidocaine injections. The procedure only took 30 minutes. I was given a compression garment to wear for the next 5 days, then I will sleep in it for the next two weeks. Pain wise, I'm doing fine. I haven't taken any pain pills. It hurts if I touch my neck, so I'm just leaving it alone. I don't seem to have any bruising yet, but it's only day two. I can definitely tell that my neck is swollen. I'll keep making progress reports as I heal. Updated on 12 Oct 2017: It's now Thursday and I had my chin lipo Tues morning. Still no bruising, just swollen & sore to the touch. Nothing that needs pain medicine. I'm sleeping propped up and that's getting annoying, but I know it helps with the swelling. Updated on 14 Oct 2017: It's now Saturday. My lipo was done on Tuesday. I've got light yellowish green bruising showing up, nothing bad at all. I was expecting pretty major bruising because my skin is sensitive, I bruise & swell easily, so I'm very pleasantly surprised. I've worn my compression wrap non-stop except for short breaks. Sometimes it starts to bug me & I've just got to take it off for a few minutes. My neck feels odd, a bit numb yet tender. I'm already noticing results even though I'm still definitely swollen. Updated on 17 Oct 2017: It's been one week. I didn't wear my compression band much yesterday until the evening, and I can see a lot more swelling. It looks like I have a double chin again, but I'm assuming it's temporary. Still some tenderness, some weird numbness. Updated on 20 Oct 2017: Bruising is completely gone. Swelling was way down this morning, but flared up again by evening. I can't stretch my neck very far or bend my head backwards, it feels very odd. Still tender, I can feel some lumps. I'm not worried about any of it & I can definitely see improvement already. Completely sick of wearing this compression band. Updated on 27 Oct 2017: Things are going great ! Still some swelling and a little tenderness, my physician said that can last for several more weeks. I'm not even three weeks out and I can see such a big difference. I can't wait until all the swelling is gone. I did have a hard lumpy area, I started gently massaging it with lotion two days ago and it's much better already. Updated on 1 Nov 2017: I'm healing really well. I've still got a tiny bit of tenderness under my chin, a little swelling, but it looks great. I'm so pleased ! Updated on 12 Mar 2019: I stopped in and let Dr. Hayes and his staff see my results (it’s a three hour drive for me) and they took after photos. Here’s a comparison so you can see my results side by side. Sorry the lighting is a bit off but you can still see a HUGE difference. Best thing I ever did for myself !

Painless Rhinoplasty Under Local Anesthesia!!

Amazing. Despite my fears about having my nose broken and being somewhat awake, surgery itself was PLEASANT as was the recovery!! I did not need a single painkiller (narcotic, Tylenol, or otherwise) and my swelling went down rapidly as did the MINIMAL bruising under my eyes (I expected a lot worse). On top of it all, I was already breathing better 24 hours after surgery than I had been before. Two weeks out and cosmetic results are also visible. I highly recommend.
