I consulted with Dr. Shell one month ago for a breast reduction. My experience has been good. The staff was very welcoming and Dr. Shell explained how the procedure would go in depth. I'm super excited Updated on 14 Dec 2020: I knew it was time for a breast reduction because I had dents in my shoulders. My back and neck pain was unbearable. My breast started spilling from my bras. When I got to the hospital, they started my IV and took my blood. After that, Dr. Shell asked what size I was going for. I told him a small C cup. Updated on 15 Dec 2020: Today is 3 days post op. I got to get my bandages removed by Brandi! She was so nice and informative. I’m still sore but I am slowly weaning myself from the pain medication. Instead, I am taking Tylenol extra strength. I’m excited to see the process of my results. I am a firm believer in trusting the process.
I was skeptical about the whole thing but my back pain kept getting worse and I couldn't take it so I went to see my PC and everything was fine. She told me all of my options and I did everything from physical therapy to losing weight but nothing helped. A reduction was my last stopped. I was scheduled with a surgeon before this one and I didn't feel comfortable with him. I searched high and low until I found Dr. Shell and I'm glad I did.
I made the choice to undergo breast augmentation surgery 3 months previous to surgery which took place November 30th. At first I was a bit iffy because this was a major surgery for me. I had my consultation with Dr. Dan H. Shell and I was completely comfortable with him being my doctor because he had over 30+ years experience and he seemed very educated in this specific area of cosmetic surgery. He also made sure I was aware of the pros and cons of breast implants; which made me very comfortable because he wasn’t trying to hide the bad stuff that could go wrong. He was very personable and selfless just like his staff. They all made sure I was as comfortable as possible and went out of their way to make sure I was at peace the entire time. During my journey I was indecisive about what size implant I wanted. Surgery day came and I told Doc to stay between 325cc and 375cc. Since I was so flat chest they had to do a little more to fit the perfect implants. I ended up with 350cc round smooth HP silicone on both left and right breast. I am beyond happy with my new girls and I can’t wait for them to start dropping and fluffing. PS: is it bad for me to start soft massages to help my implants drop faster? I have been rubbing on them and putting ice packs on my chest to reduce swelling but I don’t want to cause them to deform. Help? Updated on 8 Dec 2018: I must say, Dr. Shell has magic hands. I have seen several recovery/post op photos and none that I’ve seen has had the results I’m currently seeing in this stage(week 1). I am beyond amazing with the work Dr. Shell has performed. I was a 34 A, 5’5, & 103lbs. I had 350cc HP smooth round silicone implants. My Surgey was November 30, 2018. My entire surgery went magnificent and the staff was to the T. My over all experience with everything is a 10/10. I would highly recommended Dr. Shell to any female that is considering breast augmentation!
Dan Shell did an amazing job with my breast augmentation. I was expecting a difficult experience with healing and seeing my results, but honestly I have been pleased since immediately after the surgery. Pain was minimal, scarring is minimal, and the whole experience has been positive. He is kind and has answered all of my questions, and his staff has also been supportive and given me a lot of advice too throughout the process. From a lot of research I have done, people have to wait weeks, even months, before their augmentations look like what they were hoping for (in the meantime, implants sitting up high and having to wear strapping, etc.) - with Dr. Shell, literally day 1 I was shocked that I loved how I looked, and they get better each day. I would 10/10 do it again and recommend him to anyone!
I must say I’m graceful for Dr.Shell. He performed a Tummy Tuck on me10/13/17. On 20/18/17 my body was transformed. Dr Shell said once swelling goes down, I will see more beautiful result. So I absolutely recommend Dr.Shell to seeking service.kathy
He did my breast implants for a great price very professional loved him and his staff bedside manner rated at 100% he makes you feel like a person not a number job well done I recommend him for sure

I am 38 years old, black woman, 5'4", 185 lbs.,I am a size 38G and have 2 boys 14 and 11 yrs old which I had by a c-section. I didn't breast feed but since having my boys I have always had big breasts. I went to go see Dr. Dan Shell of Memphis, TN after getting a referral from my doctor. I went to the consultation and he was very nice, informative and to the point. My insurance is through Blue Cross Blue Shield through my job and since I hadn't met my deductible of $1200 that's why I have to pay that out of pocket for my surgery. I went to see Dr. Shell to do my consultation in May 2016 and followed up with my PCP so I could get more notes because the more notes from your PCP the better your chances are for the insurance accepting it and allowing you the go ahead to get a reduction. I received a call on 8/5/16 from the office (Dr Shell office) and was told the insurance had accepted my acceptance for surgery. I had a total of 3 good notes from my PCP and the insurance accepted it on the first go around!! Yes!!! I am ready, I am preparing to get my hair braided on 8/29/16 because the reviews from you ladies have been AWESOME! I have so much information and I am looking forward to getting this done and writing the reviews about my experience!! Updated on 27 Aug 2016: I got a call from the doctor office telling me it was official that everything is scheduled for Tuesday the 28th, I need to report @ 7am and they would start @ 8:30am. The procedure will last about 2 hours. I also got a call from the surgery center telling me my exact amount of the surgery which is $1220.21. I am ready. I will keep you all updated. Updated on 30 Aug 2016: I arrived @ 7am, the surgery center was very nice. When I checked in they called me up, took my ID and insurance, I signed my paperwork and paid my $1,220.21. My mother and friend was allowed to come back with me. I changed into a gown, put my belongings in a bag and signed my consent for treatment. Each staff that was on my medical team explained themselves thoroughly. I was given an IV in my left hand (which didn't hurt @ all), they started me on an antibiotic to prevent any infection if any was to come, they would already be in my system. Then they gave me a dosage for nausea. I meet my bed nurse, 2 other nurses working with Dr. Shell and the anesthesiologist. The staff was organized and professional, they were very formative and explained everything step by step. My family was notified each hour during my surgery. Before I went back Dr. Shell came, talked to me, marked my breast and made me feel comfortable. After that one of the nurses gave me a dosage of Valium then took me to surgery. After that I woke up in recovery. I felt fine afterwards, I had to pee before I could leave and I did and they asked about my pain on a scale of 1-10 and it was a 4. I left with my family at 12 noon, picked up my meds (Hydrocodone (for pain) & promethazine (for nausea). I am home, I am a little drowsy, but I feel good. I have taken my meds, I have my bed pillow and I am about to rest. Updated on 1 Sep 2016: Theses 2 days were about the same, a little dizzy from the medicine but as long as you stay medicated it should be okay. I can't do much but I do try to get up and not me confined to the bed. I go tomorrow to get my bandages off so I will upload pictures after my 8:30am appointment. Updated on 2 Sep 2016: I went to the doctor office for check-up, everything looked good. No complaints about Dr. Shell, he was there the entire time, staff was professional as well. Updated on 3 Sep 2016: Today was little different. My sleep has been okay, although I am sleeping half way its not bad, my breast are starting to hurt more because the medication is finally out of my system cause of the surgery and I am decreasing my dosage of pain medication. The scaring looks good, I am having a little drainage. The pain makes me scared to move too much because I don't want to hurt my stitches or anything. Updated on 4 Sep 2016: I feel much better than yesterday. I am completely off medication from the doctor. I did get a box of Tylenol extra strength 500mg & when I start hurting I take 3 at one time. So far I'm doing good today with minor pain. I got a small portion wrapped for drainage which is very little. Updated on 19 Sep 2016: I finally made it to week 2, I am feeling like myself now, I had a follow up with the nurse, she took off my strips and they hurt very little. It was unbelievable how much buildup from the surgery was on the tape and I didn't feel as tight anymore. These pic were taken on 9/12/16 and now I am on week 3 and first day back to work. I took 3 weeks off and am glad I did. I don't have anymore leakage my scaring are healing up really well as if nothing was ever done. I follow up with my PS on 9/26/16. Updated on 3 Dec 2016: So far so good. Dr Shell has been great, I am a 38D, my breast fit me just fine and I am impressed. It was scary @ first but I am happy with the results.

I'm 42, divorced 2yrs, with adult children 24 & 21 yrs old. I've always been heavy. I reached my highest weight of 309 lbs in 2003 and knew I had to make some changes. I did and over the course of a year and a half dropped down to 180 lbs. I've had a couple fluctuations but have maintained my weight at 185 lbs for the last several years. Cuddos to me right. Well yes & no. Lost the weight looked great in certain clothes but I had major hanging & sagging skin. If women have a mid life crisis, I guess mine is happening over a period of years. I've always presented as confident but all this loose skin just became unbearable especially on my arms & stomach. I'm more comfortable doing for others but it was like something came over me & I picked up a phone and started setting up appointments for consultations. I set all my consultations for 07/29/14. I'm not impulsive by nature & will over think a thing to death (Pisces) so why in the world did I agree to have my first procedure just a week & a half later. One of the best decisions of my life. I'm coming for you Beyoncé. Just kidding. I am going for the BEST ME!
Liposuction is often combined with tummy tuck to achieve the desired result. The maximum amount that most agree can be safely liposuctioned at one time is 5,000 cc. Your surgeon will probably not even come close to removing this volume of fat but that is the upper limit most might remove. I am so glad he is not using drains with your procedure! I was taught we had to use drains during my training 40 years ago and used them on all tummy tucks until about 10 years ago. I realized there had to be a better way and stopped using them then. Progressive tension sutures have replaced the need for drains and, I believe, result in a much better outcome. I've also found that injecting a long-acting local anesthetic , Exparel, into the soft tissues in the OR makes a huge difference in postop pain relief.
