I had such an amazing experience today with Dr. Davila and his team! I underwent Subfascial Breast Augmentation using Mentor implants under local anesthesia, opting out of general anesthesia. I didn't know what to expect as this was my first surgery but enjoyable was definitely not on my spectrum of ideas! Surprisingly, the surgery was quite comfortable, with only sporadic slight jolts every now and then to which was remedied immediately with additional numbing meds. Dr. Davila's bedside manner was exceptional; he calmly talked me through every step of the the procedure in laymen terms and the rest of the time felt like catching up with an old friend. His warmth and down-to-earth nature were comforting and created a calming environment. The second assisting doctor was equally fantastic and added to the overall quality of the experience. They were both great at keeping the conversation flowing which made time fly by. From a technical standpoint, Dr. Davila listened to my preferences regarding the natural look I desired. Kristen, the PA, and Crystal, the nurse, were also incredibly warm and kind and brought good vibes into the OR. Despite being only a few hours post-op, I feel remarkably well, I have some swelling and pain but it's very manageable. I feel so good that I have keep having to reminding myself I just had surgery and to take it easy. I'll be providing updates on my recovery periodically. Overall, wonderful experience all around and I would highly recommend Dr. Davila and team to everyone! Updated on 29 Feb 2024: Healing has progressed smoothly for me. Initially, I relied on stronger medications but transitioned to Tylenol within a few days. I haven't even required Tylenol for several days now. The discomfort mainly stems from the surgical bra irritating the tender incision site. I found that inserting a cut-up thick sock as a cushion has significantly improved comfort. Sleeping at a 60-degree angle has been manageable thanks to a wedge from Amazon, paired with my old breastfeeding and pregnancy pillow for support. Getting in and out of bed has been a challenge due to sore ribs from the internal mesh. However, by day 7, swelling in my abdomen has notably reduced. Although I still experience swelling in my sternum and breasts, it's gradually diminishing. The current spacing of my breasts seems off, but my doctor reassured me that it should correct itself once swelling subsides, muscles relax, and implants settle. On day 9, my breasts are beginning to feel softer. I've noticed a bumpy area near the incision site, possibly from internal stitches or mesh, but haven't received clear insight from the office despite their responsiveness to post-op inquiries. While I met with a PA at one week post-op, I won't see the surgeon until one month. The most challenging aspect for me is restricted arm movement; I'm eagerly awaiting clearance for some mobility. To support my healing process, I've been proactive with red/blue light therapy, mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy, juicing, and maintaining a nutrient-rich diet. Overall, I'm feeling great!
I had schedule my surgery mutual consultation for Dec 26th and booked my suggest for January 8th. After having 6 children over the past 19 years and 4 of them in the last 13 the little boob I did have was very deflated. I received mentor xtra 470cc Subfascial breast augmentation. I did do the local anesthesia versus general where they out you to sleep. It wasn’t that bad you could feel the middles they used to numb and other that a few spots I could barely feel them. I had a few jolt feelings while they were doing the augmentation and if I told them they would stop and with numb it or wait for it to kick in. I had a great experience and I was so nervous for the whole procedure. I have wanted a breast augmentation for probably 15-20 years and now that I am done having kids it was time. I was a 32b in Victoria secret but more like. 32 a nice I wasn’t breast feeding or pregnant. The staff at the Pittsburgh surgical center were all so kind and helpful and even doctor Davila. (Hopefully I spelled that right) Todya is day one and I feel great. Updated on 21 Jan 2024: I am 3 days PO. I am still very swollen but they are not hard they are more soft. Most of my pain is from my incision area. I feel like they are to wide still and hoping that when the swelling goes down they will look better. Updated on 24 Jan 2024: Day 5 and day 6 photos. My healing has been pretty easy and pain free. I have only been taking Tylenol since the day after and mainly to help with swelling. I am taking arnica and bromelain 3 times a day per my surgeons directions. I have very little bruising. I don’t have any pain on my boob itself just on the edge in the side mostly and maybe a little at the bottom. I’m nice in a while I will get a sharp pain on my right side but that’s usually when I lean the wrong way or reach to much. I still have a good bit of swelling and my left is more than my right. The middle between my breast sometimes has a burning sensation and it’s pretty swollen, it feels like my skin is pulling away from my chest. It’s not super painful more uncomfortable like if you put Vicks on your skin. I still feel like the look too wide but I’m sure they will look better when the swelling goes down. I was very bloated from the fluid draining down until day 4 now I don’t have much in my abdomen. I will say the most uncomfortable part is the having to sleep at an angle. My surgeon said 60 degrees, my back has been hurting from sleeping elevated. My shoulders also hurt but I think that is from laying on the table during surgery as I could feel my shoulders hurting during surgery. My boobs were never really har Dewey have always been squishy from the day they were done. I met with the nurse today to have my stitch removed and she said I can shower normal just dry the incision, still sleep elevated a few more days, wear my bra until 2 weeks but I can take small breaks, and she said I don’t need to do massages unless the surgeon thinks I need to but it wouldn’t be until like 2 months. She said 80% of the swelling should go down by 2 weeks the rest by 3-4 weeks. My next check up is at 1 month. Updated on 24 Jan 2024: I am adding Additional before photos and Crisalix 3D images (450cc) for comparison. Crisalix is done in 25cc increments and you don’t get to change the profile or type of implant. My surgeons office used something similar but I forgot to take a picture and it wasn’t very accurate because he thought I needed a post which I didn’t. Updated on 27 Jan 2024: Here are some pictures of days 7 & 9 post OP. I feel pretty good. The top of my boobs have some pain when I touch them similar to a bruise pain. I did have a little burning near my incisions but I think it’s from where the internal stitch was pulled out but it was only days 7 and 8. On day 6 or 7 I did notice my nipples were a little more sensitive and a little more painful when touched but nothing too bad. Days 7 and 8 I noticed the swelling had gone down a good bit and I am starting to like the look of them now and they look more even. The left side is still a little bigger Hopefully it’s just some swelling still. I still have the lump on the side of my left boob. The pain on my right side is a lot better but I can still feel it if I am reach my arm out too much. There is some pain all around the edges of my boobs but only if I touch it and press on them but I do not really have much pain daily. I feel like the middle in between my breast are still swollen some. I have not taken any Tylenol or anything the past couple days but I am still taking my Bromelain and Arnica. Updated on 2 Feb 2024: I’m am adding pictures form today 15 days post up. I am feeling pretty good. I don’t hav much pain other than on my right boob on the side is sore but I think that has to do with when I tried to sleep without a bra on day 10 (my paperwork said I could at night) during the night I felt a burning sensation like it was pulling so I put my bra back on and it’s still sore but getting better. My left boob doesn’t have much pain and I still have the lumps in the side. I do have pain on the underside of my boob and it feels like a brush burn m, I think my surgical bra is rubbing it but when I try another bra it dogs into my incision are. My incision is healing well it’s a bit bumpy and is only a little sore when pressure is on it. I have been laying flat for a few days which is more comftorable. When ninety down my boobs do have a bigger gap in between them but not to much. I think most of the swelling is gone and the look pretty even from the top. I can’t tell if the creases are even or not as sometimes in pictures the left looks higher still. They are pretty squishy and not super tight at all. I am feeling better about how they look. Updated on 28 Feb 2024: I forgot to update the past couple weeks. I went to my 1 month follow up a week ago and saw the doctor. He said everything looks really good and I am healing well. I mentioned the lumps on the left side and he said it is just the internal bra, they have tabs in them and he tried to trim them off and if there is a little more left you could possibly feel it. I assume this is something that will go away. I ask about the left breast being bigger and more rounder and he said that it could still be swelling and it could last until 3 months post op. My scars look really good and they are flat. They are still dark and I was cleared to start my scar treatment, he didn’t give specifics just what ever I wanted to do. I was also cleared to do normal exercises he just said not to do any dead lifting right away, which I do not do anyway. My next check up will be for my 3 months. I will add pictures form the last 3 weeks. At 2 weeks my right boob was less sore than it had been. My incisions were healed on the outside and I noticed they had started to drop and fluff. I noticed that they seemed more even at least at the same level. My incisions were not really sore but I noticed above my incision was sore I think from my bra rubbing it so I stopped wearing the surgical bra for about a week and wore a sports bra. Week 3 I cold move my right arm more without having much pain my left arm was already fine. My ribs under my breast wore sore which felt like a muscle thing. I think that is from the internal bra being stitched to my rib muscle. They looked pretty normal 3 weeks on and they didn’t seem as close together.
The best results from my scar revision and abdominoplasty surgery. I am 62 years old and these corrective procedures have provided relief and my stomach feels great. This quality of life will help me as I continue the aging process. Thank you Dr. Davila.
