As long as I can remember, I always wanted bigger breasts. All the girls in my family have plenty of sexy curves, except for me. I guess I missed out in that gene! but thank goodness for plastic surgeons who can fix my little problem! After breast feeding both my children past the year mark, I was left with small 32A boobies. My surgeon told me I had plenty of breast tissue and my skin was nice and thick. I'm glad the girls didn't sag! No more small breasts for 2014, so I found Dr. Spiers who is amazing and performs magic! booked my surgery date and never looked back! During my consult I told him what I wanted and showed him a picture of the boobies I wanted, we didn't decide on a size then cause he explained me, during surgery he would do the sizers, and go from there. So here is experience so far... Get ready to read! Week before surgery I filled all of my prescriptions, Nausea, percoset for pain, flexiril for muscle spasms, antibiotics, sleeping meds. Also vitamin C, a stool softener and my multi vitamins. 6-26-2014: Surgery went good, I told the anesthesiologist to give me something for nausea since I was afraid of vomiting, and he took good care of me. He gave me two different types of nausea meds. They worked!! When I woke up from surgery, I felt so tired, the nurses kept on telling me to stay awake, they already had called my husband who was waiting for me. They helped me get dressed and the ride home went smooth. I think I still had good pain meds in my system cause I didn't feel any of the bumps on the road. That first day I kept up with my meds and was not in pain. I just felt so hungry! My nurse called me asked me to look at my girls to make sure everything looked even, and they did! OMG! I was shocked by how beautiful they looked!! However the swelling hadn't set yet... Sleeping at a 45 degree angle was a bit tough, but the couch helped a lot! 6-27-2014: I felt tired, really sore, the swelling was bad, the girls looked huge, I had a lot of swelling in between the girls too! my rib cage too! I couldn't lift my arms. My ribs hurt so bad. Pain was good, my chest just felt tight and I had some nausea. I had a really hard time sleeping. 6-28-2014: Day 2 post-op. Sleeping on the couch was my best choice. I still felt sore, everything as the previous day. I started to get a rash in between the girls... My breasts were so swollen and they felt hot, but I didn't have a temperature. 3 Days Post-Op: Same as day 2, The rash looked really bad, red and swollen, Pain wise, I felt great. I was not taking anything except at night just to help me sleep. I was still sleeping on the couch. I got to shower too!!! with my husbands help that is. I don't think he mind helping me shower either, he washed my hair! It was a good bonding moment I guess. 4 Days Post-Op: Pain is very minimal. Not taking anything except at night to help me sleep. Felt tired and had some nausea, the rash was still there... 5 Days Post-Op: Feeling somewhat tired at times. Had some nerve shooting pain, very normal, it wasn't too bad. Went for a walk, and I could feel the girls with every step! not painful.. I just could feel the weight of the girls being there. I felt so out of shape too! I went to see my PS about the rash, he gave me a cream to apply 3 times daily. He told me the girls looked great and everything else looked amazing. I had to agree with him! 6-7 Days P/O: Cream really helping with the rash, I'm starting to feel more like my self, not so tired anymore but I'm still sore and swollen. 9 Days P/O: Not sure why I was so excited about it, but I got to shave my arm pits and legs!! Still having a hard time sleeping. Part I think is cause I'm a tummy sleeper, and this thing about sleeping on my back is not helping! I'm having nerve pain, but it's not a big deal. Rash is looking better. 11 Days P/O: I'm feeling amazing! more like my old self, not so tired anymore and last night I was able to sleep on my side. The Rash is looking so much better too. 2 weeks P/O: Had my two week check up and my PS likes how everything is looking, rash included. He took off the surgical tape and I got to see my incisions, wow! he is good!!! The incision for my right breast looks very even and perfect! The Left breast incision is a little more raised but looks really nice too. No Pain, and my rash is almost gone! 7-12-14 (16 days P/O): I Feel great! got to dust around the house, I felt tired after, but I felt useful haha! I can lift my arms all the way up with minimal tightness. No pain. Incisions look great just a little sore when I touch them. Breasts feel softer, but they still look high. Swelling around the ribs is gone, just a little sore still. Been sleeping on my side. 7-30-14 (5 weeks P/O): I feel great, the girls have soften up so much! I can't wait for the full effect of the drop and fluff. I can do everything, except I'm not lifting anything too heavy. So far I'm very happy with my results, how they look, how they feel. Clothes shopping has been a blast! I can't wait to go shopping for some bikinis! I'm so excited! Since the swelling is gone, and they look smaller, I'm very happy with the size. I know the girls still have some changing to do, but I'm very happy so far. Updated on 31 Jul 2014: Updated on 31 Jul 2014: Some fun pics, thank goodness the swelling is down! Updated on 1 Aug 2014: I'm at my 5 weeks post-op after having my BA surgery, I feel amazing. Sleeping has been ok, side sleeping is no problem now, the girls have soften up a lot and I think the size is perfect for my body type and active life style. With clothes I look like I did before the surgery since I wore padded bras, it's without clothes that I'm amazed! I feel so sexy! Will post new pics. Still waiting for some D&F! Can't wait! Updated on 6 Aug 2014: 6 weeks post-op, and feeling amazing! I got the ok to start excercising. However I was lazy and didn't do anything today. Will start tomorrow! Last night I was able to sleep on my tummy! At least for a while. I switched positions to my side. I was not uncomfortable at all. I just don't want to over do it. Bra shopping at VS was a blast too! Talk about a confidence boost! I felt so sexy! Didn't purchase anything cause my twins might still get smaller. I did get the wine color bralette. I tried the 32DD and it fits but I had a little bump on top of the cups. The 32DDD was perfect. I also tried the 34D but the band was too loose. Updated on 7 Aug 2014: Somewhat proportionate? I'll be working more on my tummy and booty. Updated on 27 Aug 2014: My PS told me I'm done dropping and gave me the ok to wear whatever I want. Not sure if to go shopping and buy or just keep in trying on till my 3 month mark. Everything looks good and feels good. My boobs are softer and I like how they look. However... I'm having boob greed! Hahaha mainly cause with clothes on they look like before, when I was wearing padded bras... However the hubs thinks thinks they look perfect for my body. Updated on 27 Aug 2014: More bra shopping! I couldn't wait... And I'm still at 32DD, some are 32DDD for more coverage. These babies are from VS Updated on 1 Sep 2014: For the past couple of nights I have been rolling on my stomach. It feels great to sleep on my tummy again! Nothing hurts but I can feel the pressure of the implants being there. It doesn't feel bad. I just feel them. But it's not uncomfortable. I'll post some pics of my incisions. Hope you all are having a great 4 day weekend! Updated on 19 Sep 2014: Had my visit with my ps and he loves how everything looks. I'm pretty happy too. I'm back sleeping on my stomach, the girls feel soft, and I'm in-love with them. I don't have boob greed anymore. They look plenty big!! Any bigger and I would have a hard time finding one piece lingerie! Glad I listened to my PS and went for the 350cc. Attaching my befores too!!! Funny how it's been 3 months but I had forgotten what my Pre-ops looked like! I'm so glad I did this for myself!!! Updated on 16 Feb 2015: It's been 8 months, and I absolutely love my twins. They are so soft and squishy! The hubs really loves them too. I have no wrinkling when bending over, the scars are still pink, but they feel soft. The BA feels, bounce and moves with me. I don't have boob greed, I believe the size is just perfect for my thin body. And besides when I want extra cleavage, that's what a nice push up bra is for. With this size I'm still very active, and I don't feel like they get on the way. Sorry girls I haven't updated in a really long time... (5 months) I'm just a little self conscious at times... But one thing I have come to terms, is that RealSelf is a great community and if sharing my journey helps someone, then why not share? Hope you are all having a great weekend! Updated on 16 Feb 2015: Some more pics, and what my scars look like at 8 months. I just started using kelp-cote scar gel a couple of weeks ago. I have seen some improvement, but my scars are still a little pink. I'll keep on using the gel and see if I keep on having progress. I forgot to mention in my other update. I never lost sensation. Right after surgery the area around the incision was a little numb, but everything came back to normal a couple of weeks later. Updated on 19 Mar 2015: I just wanted to say that at 110 lbs, I'm so happy with my 350cc! I woke up this morning and couldn't be happier! Just have to share the pic! Will make a 9 month update soon.
I actually found Dr. Speirs while reading reviews on real self. I made the decision to have my implants removed even though they looked great and were implanted by a top notch surgeon, for a few reasons. My health begain to fail, I experienced extreme fatigue, depression, hair loss, brain fog, and loss of sex drive. I also lost the ability to train, run and work due to the debilitating fatigue. I had always been really healthy before. Also, the implants were uncomfortable and felt unnatural in my body. Dr. SPeirs did a fantastic job and although I am only a few days out from the proceedure, my breasts are looking good. I was terrified of sagging and stretch marks but my implants were not big, I went from A to C, I'm pretty young at 29, and have good skin elasticity. I really liked all of the staff at Dr. SPeirs office and Dr. SPeirs has a great bedside manner and he is a very kind person. I am so pleased with the results and the cost of explantation was reasonable. My only regret is that I spent so much money on getting the implants in the first place. LUckily for me, I found a great doctor and got a very good result. I would highly reccomend Speirs Clinic for Plastic Surgery! Updated on 5 Mar 2013: I'm feeling so much better. There is still a tiny bit of soreness along the sutures and my breast tissue is pretty tender, but things are normalizing and I feel like me again. Initially, my breasts were a little smaller than before the augmentation, so I may have had some tissue atrophy, but I think they are starting to bounce back. I was so worried that my breasts would sag, be deformed, etc. But I think that not going too big with the implant, and the fact that I only had them for about 6 months, has really helped. More importantly, I am getting my health back, which is amazing! I am starting to feel good enough to get a job again! I will have a little more healing to do before returning to running, but I am currently able to hike and do yoga. It will be two weeks as of this coming Thursday, since my ex plantation. Although sometimes I worry that my husband might miss me with implants, I can't imagine that he will miss how exhausted , low libido, and depressed I was. There was actually a time when I thought I might never get better, which was terrifying. I don't know what it was about the implants that was making me so sick, but for the record, severe nickle and other skin allergies run in my family, so who knows? Without more studies and information, (though I've done a ton of research on implants) I can't say for sure that all implants are bad. I can only speak for my experience and all I can say is that getting implants was a terrible mistake for me! I'm so happy to be rid of them and getting my health back day by day! Also, I want to thank all of you ladies who have been so brave and shared your experiences. You all helped me tremendously, when I was in the process of making the decision to explant. Thank You all! Photos to come.
Amazing I paid less to do this under versed and fentanyl and let me tell you well worth it. Was a small B before implants 10 plus years ago had 375cc and with gaining some weight I was a DD for the past 5 years. I am now a full c natural and did not need a lift. Easy procedure and healed with in a week. love my natural look.
I had a tummy tuck along w/ breast reconstruction about 3wks ago. I have no regrets getting it done. I was told that I had 3.5lbs taken off my belly.I would recommend to anyone considering this procedure to be realistic of the pain and discomfort that will be experienced in the first 2wks of having the procedure and the scarring (along w/ "dog ears" to possible form). Also to be prepared to wear a binder (if recommended by your surgeon which my did/does) which will be a discomfort for everyday activities. It's a life changing procedure, but prior to having it done to do your research and ask questions even if you think it's sounds ridiculous.
I wish I had ran into this website prior from me having my procedure (breast lift w/ breast implants). Though I have done my research and have used a surgeon that two close of my friends have used.I have just turned 40yo this year, but was very unhappy w/ my body. I have had the idea to have breast implants a while back, but finally after carefully budgeting I was able to.I have no regrets having the procedure done. Even though I did have a complication 3 days post op. I had a hematoma in the left breast. I did have to go back to the OR to have it drained. Of course they always say it's your body and you'll know if something is wrong. It just happened to be that I'm in the medical field and knew the signs/symptoms, that prompted me to call the surgeon's office (after hours).Plus I had two great friends that I consider my surgeon's walking billboard, that were my greatest support before and afer surgery. They told me their experiences during their healing period. Of course I know that no one heals the same way, but just to hear their stories and experiences helped me big time. It helped me know what to expect.I just would like to let others know that prior to having such a life changing to procedure that there would be possible complications after surgery. That's what I had in the back of my mind and accepted it that it would happen to me.
I went from a small size B to a size C and ...and rather surprisingly gained more self confidence then I realized. It's a little embaressing to admit that breasts could do so much. Anyway, after years of nursing my 3 children, I joked that my breast looked like tube socks when I bent over. My story and VERY IMPORTANT QUESTIONS to ask plastic surgeons: Saline was the only thing offered 2 years ago. Though they look ok they are a bit hard to the touch. I'm evaluating replacing them with silicone gel implants in the next month. I had a bottoming out on one of my breast which needs to be repaired, so it makes sense to do a switch then. I haven't had the best experience with my doctor and I'd like to point out a few VERY important issues. 1) Get more than one opinion, even if the doctor is highly recommended. 2). ASK the doctor what type of implants they use. Do they use various sizes? If they only use one type...i.e. round, high profile...RUN! I'm not saying that type is bad, rather that one TYPE isn't good for every body. It's like having one shoe to try and fit every person. The doctor needs to evaluate what looks best on you! 3) Ask if they have various implant sizes you can see and touch. DO NOT BASE YOUR DECISION ON PICTURES! 350 cc on one person can look completely different on another. I think your gut feeling should be a big factor and seeing various sizes might help you decide. 4) Go 25cc bigger than you plan. All but one of my 6 friends having implants wish they would have gone bigger, including myself. 5) Show the doctor pictures of what you DON'T want. MOST IMPORTANTLY bring the picture(s) the day of the surgery. Trust me, they will forget what you talked about during the consultation. They see tons of patients and usually weeks pass between the initial consultation and the surgery. 6) Ask the doctor if they've ever had to make corrections after they performed an augmentation. EVERY doctor should have had to make corrections at sometime, by no fault of their own in most cases. However, asking this question will open up a dialogue. You need to find out their opinion on what looks good. If you hear a doctor say that differences in sizes or variations between breast is completely normal....RUN! Believe me, that tells you that they're not concerned about giving you perfect breasts. Augmentation is not cheap...you should expect perfection or very close to it! 7) Lastly, ask their opinion on massaging after surgery. If they say don't massage question it. My doctor said don't massage because it can dislodge the breast. Well i didn't massage but my breast still bottomed out...a month after surgery... and he said nothing could be done. I've recently had 5 doctors say it can and should be repaired. My point about the massaging...if they say "don't" I'm guessing it's not a very secure procedure they're offering. I'm sharing all this info because I hope I can prevent someone from going through what I've dealt with. $5500 for the original surgery now $7500+ to get it fixed 2 years later. Oh, that does include upgrading to slightly larger implants. Even having said all this and my disappointment with my issues, I really have enjoyed having larger breasts. It's definately worth it! Julie
I had my saddle bags (outter thighs) done 2 years ago. Even though I was under general anesthesia I had no lidocaine (numbing medicine) so when I woke up I was in HORRIBLE pain. The pain lasted 7 weeks and besides a small lump I am very happy with the results. The best part, it was immediate results for me. Very brutal surgery but black and white. No question like it is with Smart Lipo. I questioned putting a review at all because it was extremely painful. BTW- inner thighs are not an area recommended for treatment. I would only recommened liposuction for obvious problem areas. If it's just a little fine tuning you need, I would keep exploring. I had Smart Lipo 2 weeks ago but I've seen no reults yet. I was told I need to wait 3 months before I see results. Liposuction is immediate.
I do not personally recommend massaging the breasts after augmentation--there is a risk that the scar capsule will rupture if it is performed too vigorously, and this can cause the body to create more scar tissue in response to the injury.
Yes, I advise my patients to take a regular multivitamin and a vitamin C supplement (up to 1000 mg per day) starting a week before surgery.
The average cost of breast implant surgery is around $5, 500 for saline, and $6,400 for silicone. This price varies from office to office, and includes different items. You should call the office and get a quote, and also see if the consultation is free.
Each company is different, and you should check with the surgeon's office that did the orginal surgery. It is possible that they still have your records. If that is not possible, then your only option is to have the implant removed, if it is indeed deflated. Then you could submit paper work on the deflated implant after your surgery, and perhaps be reimbured for some of your costs.
