Absolutely great! Dr Alba Reyes and her staff (Vanessa) are professional, knowledgeable and friendly! I’ve had two previous hair transplants with “Bosley” in NYC and just had my third with Dr Reyes. I wish I had gone to Dr Reyes from the beginning! Let’s start with the cost ; Bosley - $12,000 (which included nothing) Dr Reyes $5,500 (which included the hotel stay for two with breakfast and dinner). There is absolutely no comparison when It came to the procedure itself- Dr Reyes actually performed the procedure herself, whereas Bosley had their technicians do the procedure. The coverage Dr Reyes did was extensive, she even added more coverage than was expected! During the procedure I was lying down- it was painless and I was very comfortable, whereas at Bosley I was sitting up for the whole procedure and very uncomfortable. Bosley did the bare minimum of coverage at an extremely higher price. Thank you Doctor!
I was looking to get a hair transplant for years , couldn't decide on where to do it , finally I found doctor Alba Reyes center and got it done just ten days ago , the experience was amazingly pleasant, Vanessa really made an impact with her kindness and care , always willing to talk and guide you before , during and after the procedure. Even is still early , I already feel I made the right decision by choosing doctor Reyes .
Had my procedure on May 6th with Dr. Reyes. I was debating getting this procedure for a few yers now, especially trying to explain it at the office. I figured with Covid No return to the office, been thinking about it. the clinic is still around and not a fly by night shop. I called up and spoke to Vanessa who has all my information for a number of years and was extremely, extremely professional and knowledgeable. I bit the bullet and scheduled the procedure with accommodations at a nearby hotel. Hotel was i the middle of the city, not on the beach, however great staff and all meals included. Procedure was pretty smooth, no pain, woke up a few hours later. They transplanted approx. 2500 grafts. No swelling, scarring, or issues 10 days later. So far, looks exactly as I hoped. Confidence is higher, kicking myself did not do it earlier. At least one thing helped from Covid. Manuel
Best service I’ve ever had! I tried to ignore my thinning hair for years. Internally I knew that some day I’ll lose enough and just shave it. But that was a “later problem”. Then one day while watching a family video, it panned across the top of my head and I seen what everyone has been seeing for years. The thinning was now a “now problem”. I couldn’t believe it was that bad. I never noticed when looking in the mirror. What could be done? nothing right?! Rogain? I didn’t believe in it. Bosley? Too sales pitchy. Hair Transplant? Ha could never afford that Hollywood stuff! Back to square one, just accept that some day I’ll shave it. Then my wife asked me if I’d be willing to go to Mexico or somewhere if it were more affordable. I agreed and rejuvenated my search into hair transplant. I looked up the most popular locations for it. 1st: USA, 2nd India, 3rd Turkey, 4th Dominican Republic. USA was too expensive. India and Turkey cost too much in transport plus.... My Caucasian hair is much finer and thinner than what they may be used to. I did have a consult for a place in turkey. But the consult was out of a UK office over video. The feeling I got was too infomercial type, the sales rep was more of a used car salesman style. My quote seemed too good to be true. Offer up 4800 FUEs, roughly 60% of the donor site. That went against everything I found online. But it all felt like a generic sales pitch. Then there was Dominican Republic. Flights were cheap. Location is beautiful. But most of all the consult was great. It was like talking to family. I’m not kidding. Vanessa the coordinator, video called me anytime I had questions or concerns. She gave me an accurate realistic quote and was able to back it up with reasons and facts. Unlike turkey, Vanessa explained that they could only pull 2800 FUE’s (30% of donor site) without thinning out the back and sides of my head. She provide a fully inclusive package that they had. But since we decided to stay longer in DR, She helped me thru the entire process of selecting an appropriate Airbnb and transportation. The procedure: well it was very simple. I was taken to the the clinic which was very clean and professional clinic. Not want I was expecting for DR. Dr Alba and I talked about my new hair line placement. Then we went to the back. I heard Hotel California was playing and I felt excited and anxious. Never nervous or scared; I was completely comfortable with them and the procedure I was moments away from undergoing. Count down from 10..9..8..the. I woke up. Felt fine. Felt a bit giddy. No pain. My head was wrapped up. I was a bit hungry and they knew this because food was waiting for me. Turns out like 6 or 7 hours had passed. I ate, changed my clothes, they told me the procedure was a success and they expect great results. They took me back to my Airbnb. Double checked my head and told me the driver would pick me up in the morning for a wash and follow up at the clinic. I don’t this about 3 or 4 more times before I came home. The Results: It been almost 4 months and Everything Vanessa said has been correct so far. First the scalp feels like a helmet is on. The little scabs are all over and feel a little tight on the scalp. After about 10 days you can wash them off and look a bit more normal. For my fine hairs that were transplanted, they felt like little brittle hairs on my head. Like if I had rubbed it they may break. Well that is all in my head. That was normal sensation during the healing process. The little hairs fell out and new ones immediately took their place. And the new hairs are growing and filling in. I’m happy and impressed with my results. I know I still have 8 more months until the new growth process is completed but so far it’s a major improvement. I’m so happy I went with Dr Alba and Vanessa!!! If you’re reading this.... go for it man. You won’t regret it. Updated on 26 Apr 2021: I had my transplant on 22 Oct. It’s now 6 April and my hair is fuller and more dense than it’s ever been before. It’s a Very Noticeable difference. It seems like my hair is getting fuller every day. I do not use any hair products because I just don’t have too. No gels, sprays, or foams. It’s just think enough to stay styled all day. Even in the wind. Before the transplant my hair was so thin it couldn’t hold a shape or style. That’s no a thing of the past. I absolutely endorse this procedure, Vanessa, and Dr Alba.
For anyone looking to get this procedure done and at a great price then Dr. Alba is the person who you can trust! Her team was so professional and caring. they made me feel beyond comfortable but mostly they made me feel right at home! I couldn’t thank them enough! Did I mention they fed me after?!! I mean how many doctors to that?! Haha!
I had my transplant done in April of 2015, I was skeptical of having it done, especially outside of the U.S. however, the results are phenomenal! I didn't realize how much hair I was missing and how many grafts she was able to implant from my donor area. I was pretty much bald and now have hair in the front of my head and I look noticeably younger. Dr. Reyes is very amicable, quite funny and reassuring. Vanessa, her assistant is amazing and clearly explains everything. Their dynamic and professionalism is excellent. Vanessa followed up a few weeks after the procedure and all was well. I knew what to expect because both Dr. Reyes and Vanessa spoke to me about the physical demands of the process as well as the psychological. All in all I would recommend! I can upload pictures if needed.
I've been losing hair since I was 17 years old----at first it was normalbut then started getting more serious. I knew I wanted to keep my hairthough. I heard of Dr. Alba Reyes since forever. I'm Dominican as well. Sowhen you talk about HT in D.R. she is the first name that comes to yourmind. Living in DR, I could not afford a HT. Now leaving in the U.S. HToverseas seems very affordable to what they offer here.About six months ago, I decided that I will get a HT and obviously, Iblindly contact Dr. Reyes offices to talk about costs and information. Anemail was sent to me with info about what they do, cost and so on. I also, talked to lady named Vanessa over the phone who is the contact forinternational patients. I explained to her what I wanted to do and I askedfor appointment (skype or so) with Dr. Reyes. She told me I just needed tosend photos and they will do the evaluation. She asked which technique (FUEor FUT) I was looking for. I told her whichever will give me betterresults. I was a bit concern about the fact that I never got a consultationwith the doctor herself. Vanessa told me they evaluated the pictures andthat I was good candidate.I scheduled my HT and flew back home. I did all pre-op instructions. I wasvery excited the day of the surgery. I got the office about 8.30am----I metVanessa in person. Blood test was taken and money was collected. She alsotold me they do PRP treatment and that was $400 more. They also sold me aneck pillow and bandana. I finally met Dr. Reyes and I thought she wasbeautiful and a very nice person.I was disappointed when Dr. Reyes drew my new hairline-- I was expecting alower hairline- At first they didn't explain to me that I will need anothersurgery to get the results I was expecting. I thought my case wasn't thatbad and one surgery will do the job. She told me it was better to have moredensity where I had low density and not bringing the hairline way down.A photographer came in and took my pictures. Later, the anesthesiologistcame into the room and game couple of pills. Then she took me to anotherroom where the surgery will take place. That was the last thing I remember.Somebody woke up and I thought we were gonna start my surgery. She told me"we are done!" Time flew and I didn't feel any pain. I had my bandanaaround my head! They offered me a sandwich for lunch and they told me mysister arrived to pick me up. We set up an appointment for next day to washmy hair, post instructions and so on.Three days after, I returned to the U.S. and followed all the post-Opinstructions. Dr. Reyes did an amazing job and I'll definitely recommendher to anyone. Still I'm not happy with my hairline; I just hope to getmore density and good results from my first FUT. I'm also thinking aboutgetting a new HT next year to bring the hairline to where I want it.Things I didn't like about Dr. Alba Reyes clinic:1. Never having a consultation with the doctor before paying and setting upthe surgery.2. We didn't discuss what to expect for my first HT before making thecommitment. This is very important so you don't get your expectation sohigh especially when you may require more than one procedure.3. After I came back to the U.S. had a miscommunication with her assistant. It wasn't more than a misunderstanding. She apologized and answered all myquestions. Updated on 5 Nov 2016: I'm very happy with my results so far. It's been 4 months since I got the surgery with Dr. Reyes and everybody has noticed the difference. I can't wait to hit the one year mark! Shockloss hair hasn't grown 100 percent but is about 85 percent at this point---Definitely, getting my hair transplant was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Updated on 4 Apr 2017: Hair is looking better and better. Very happy with my results after 9 months. Huge difference from where we started. I must say that I've been taking Finasteride 1mg since the surgery. Also, I did one PRP treatment with Dr. Reyes the same day of the surgery, and later did another one in the US ( 6 months after the surgery)---I included dry and wet hair pictures this time.
Trip 1 - A few yrs ago I did some research and communicated with Vanessa, the U.S contact, and finally decided go to Dr Alba Reyes in Domincan Republic. I was a bit reluctant as they had only a few referrals and only one responded.. But it was either this or travel all the was to Turkey. I decided to travel to Santo Domingo, DR. I needed my hairline and peaks filled in as they receded and I was in mid 50s. Their driver was 15 min late to airport, and my anxiety really kicked in. He was nice but spoke almost no english and drove me to hotel. The next day he drove me to clinic. Vanessa was very nice, except she lied about using anesthesia. They basically knock you out during complete procedure with anetisiologist in office. I met Dr Alba Reyes and we came up with plan. Vanessa assisted with communication as Dr's english is not so good. I paid, and then the procedure began. That's when the fear began as I seen the anestiologist, even though I had been assured many times that they only used oral seditive. They said they lie about this so not to scare customers. I woke up 6 hrs later, ate a sandwich and was quickly whisked out of the clinic into drivers car, and back to hotel. I wanted to talk to someone in English about the procedure, but only Vanessa and Dr speak English, and neither were around. I went back to clinic for wash two days later, and then flew back to U.S. One year later, although they supposedly used 2700 grafts, the results were less than satisfactory and certainly not "dense packing " as promised. The new hair didn't even blend with the existing hairline. The left side was better than the right, but other than the hairline, my hair was sparsely placed and thin. Trip 2 I had contacted Vanessa and sent photos of the bad results. I then did video chat with her and Dr. They agree to redo free of charge, except for $500 hotel and plane fare. I was scheduled to arrive in Feb 2020 but was forced to cancel due to Covid restrictions on flying internationally. I finally return there in Aug 2021. I waited over one hr at airport for driver and had anxiety attack. Turns out driver was there whole time but not holding up sign with my name and joking with another guy. I finally stood about 20 feet in front of him, hoping he was my driver, and almost no one else in airport, but he still refused to acknowledge me. My phone would not work there so after 45 min I decided to buy Sims card and was able to call Venessa. Driver finaly approached me . I was not happy with him. He was rude and walked quickly to his car and I followed. He spoke little english. He dropped me off at hotel and picked me up next morning to go to clinic. Vanessa nicely greeted me upon arrival. Soon Dr Reyes came in room and was not very friendly. She looked at me and asked Vanessa if she agreed to this. Venessa said yes. She said I would need about 1000 more grafts. I also requested for some new grafts to my crown area that I paid $1500, as my crown was now receding. . The Dr then started to ramble on about using minoxidil for over 10 min. I could hardly understand her, especially when Vanessa left the room and i no longer had her to interpret. The Dr then walked away quickly and said we will begin soon. I tried to call her back to discuss the new plan for what needed to be done this time, as some areas needed more attention than others and needed to be better blended with existing hairline. I did not get a chance to explain this. She just yelled from doorway that right side needed more than left. I said yes, and she left room. This was last time I saw her. She is not friendly and somewhat arrogant. Procedure took place and again quicky drove back to hotel. Well..almost 16 months later, the new results still not good. Especially the right side vern thin, little coverage, and not connecting with existing hairline. I conclude that either their technique is flawed or they give you less grafts than promised. They appear to use one follicle hair grafts throughout most of the transplant, creating a very thin hair volume. Other than the hairline you need 2,3, and 4 hair follicles per graft to get the proper volume.. I tried to contact Vanessa thru Whatsapp, but she no longer responds.
On July 2018 I decided to travel to the Dominican Republic to enjoy my vacation and get my eyebrows transplant done. Having this procedure done has been so important for me. I contacted Dr.Alba's office for a consultation. I drove to Santo Domingo with my husband, where I met her crew which were very friendly and professional, her facility was very nice as well. When Dr.Reyes walked into her office her first words were "Are those the patients?" in a very arrogant tone of voice. She was very rude to me, her assistance, and even my husband during the entire consultation! Even though this was very important to me I decided not to get the procedure done with her and ran out of time to search for a new doctor in D.R. At the end of the day I had to come back to New York City without my eyebrows done.
All procedures done by technicians that are probably trained out of a Hair salon. Reyes is not doing anything for the procedure so you will be with no medical Dr. and they do 2 procedures a day. Might as well call it a chop shop and an assembly line. I had what they said was 2800 grafts and looks done with a sling shot. Santo Domingo is a dirty city and watch out you don't get robbed.
Your doctor should always make time for your post op care , even if he is located in another country. The pimples are not because of the partial shedding , so it is wise to discuss the follow up plaan with your surgeon.
Yes for sure this an happen. it is transitory hair loss and will recuperate by itself in the next momths.
In general taking Testosterone accelerates the genetic hair loss so I would think twice before using it. You are already a very good csndidate for hair transplant surgery
Your case is best evaluated in person. It might b that you are not good candidate for any of the hair transplant techniques. And if determined that you can have a decent result with FUE , it will most likely need to be combined with Micropigmentation. please visit a hair transplant surgeon for more info
From what you describe it could well be Alopecia Areata but the only official diagnosis is through a biopsy. Please visit a dermatologist urgently
