I have a missing molar (second one in on the bottom) since childhood. Now I am in my 50, and the teeth have been collapsing or at least pushing as nature takes its course around the missing teeth. What are the procedures available to me? Braces to align then then an implant?
Hi, I am 44 years old and just started metal braces a month ago. I had an appointment to get 4 teeth extracted (my orthodontist told me it is necessary to create space) but ended up canceling because a friend of mine scared me to death. Shehad her braces after 40 and had 4 teeth pulled, and according to her, not-so-supple over-40 skins and muscles would not be able to adjust to the extraction, and your face would just collapse, sink and sag. Is this common?
Hello Doctor(s) , I recently had my braces taken off. My Orthodontist at the time , extracted 4 of my premolars (2 top , 2 bottom) before applying braces. After 4 years my gaps have closed up , however my smile is rather narrow. When I smile only 4-6 of my teeth are showing , I've heard this can be due to a Collapsed Arch.I also find it rather difficult to breath when sleeping because my tongue doesn't seem to fit comfortable.I was wondering what I should do , who should I see? Thanks!
here's the story. I had braces 3 years ago got them of 2 and got a fixed retainer loved them at 1st and my mouth but since I have had them of they r slowly going no to to a weird shape I used to suck a dummy a pacifier till I was 15 and it gave me a open bite wich went when I got braces as time is going on my mouth mainly my top lip mainly left side and gum feels like there is no support keeping it up like its collapsing like the gum structure normally holds your lip as u can c in pics help?
I had 4 Bicuspids extracted for braces when I was 14-15 (currently 18) . I currently have a couple of problems with my health. I have a collapsed arch/narrow smile and to make matters worse 4 of my wisdom teeth are coming in , shifting my teeth . I was wondering is there anyway to expand my mouth so I can breathe better? Can my wisdom teeth substitute my previous molar extractions ? Surgery makes me really uneasy . Is it possible to push the teeth forward and is this an good idea? -Thanks.
