4 Ways To Naturally Whiten Your Teeth — Just One Week Before Your Big Event!

Getting your teeth whitened or fixed before your big day might be the last thing on your mind, but it could end up the first thing you regret not doing because, well, those photos are forever.
In honor of Earth Day, Dr. Kourosh Maddahi has four all-natural ways to get “Wedding White in a Week.” These tips are the perfect low-cost (and super-easy!) alternative for when you don’t have the time or budget to visit a cosmetic dentist.
Rub the inside of a banana peel against your teeth for a couple of minutes a day. Over time your teeth will soak up the minerals, which will keep them strong, white, and looking their best. [Editor’s note: This trick will also shine up your shoes!]
And don’t throw away that banana! Eating bananas are great for battling depression, pre-wedding or otherwise. The fruit contains tryptophan, which converts into serotonin, also known as the “feel good” neurotransmitter.
Plaque tends to build up at the base of the teeth where toothbrushes have a hard time reaching. No worries though! You’ve likely got an all-natural plaque fighter sitting in your pantry. Olive oil, due to its viscosity, is good at getting plaque in these hard to reach areas. Try swishing with it for 20 minutes every morning for optimal oral health!
Strawberries and Baking Soda
Here’s a genius two-ingredient recipe for whiter teeth: Grind up a strawberry and mix it with some baking soda. The malic acid in strawberries is great for removing stains, while the baking soda penetrates enamel to effectively whiten your teeth. Gently rub the mixture on your teeth and leave it for about five minutes, then brush it off for — voila! —a brighter smile.
Let Nature Be Your Toothbrush
Go beyond bristles and toothpaste! Consistently eating crunchy fruits and veggies — like apples, carrots, or broccoli — is great for removing plaque and even lifting stains from teeth.
