My Philosophy and My Passion

Plastic surgery is not about vanity. Plastic surgery is about making people happy about who they are and what they look like. It involves a cosmetic component, but also a psychological component.

Whether we like it or not, much of our identity is intertwined with our appearance. This is evidenced by our constant fascination with fashion, hair, and makeup. Current fashion emphasizes our shape and body form. In my mind plastic surgery is about educating people about their options, helping them understand why people do this and they are not alone in their feelings. It's my primary job to help them understand what is realistic in terms of expectations.

My passion lies in educating patients and seeing the effects on their confidence. What people often don't realize is that this is really about ourselves and what we want to see in the mirror--what will make us happy and make us smile when we look in the mirror. When we feel good about how we look, we carry ourselves differently and other people sense that. It appears our confidence grows, and it does--whether we recognize it or not. I love to see people bloom after their surgeries. We like to see people for months or years after their surgery and I can see how they have changed from when we first met.

I am relatively new in the Orlando area, but have been practicing plastic surgery for over 10 years. My history lies in Chicago, where I grew up and much of my family remains. I have lived and trained in many areas around the country (trained in Chicago for general surgery, plastic surgery training in Detroit, and fellowship training in breast and cosmetic surgery in Nashville). I am certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and participate in the Maintenance of Certification program, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. I am actively involved in many professional societies, including the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery, and American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

I am happy to be a part of the Institute of Aesthetic Surgery, working with Dr. Richard Gregory whose philosophy has always been to educate, serve and treat all patients with the best available procedures to fully develop their God given potential. Feeling confident is an essential component of being able to maximize our abilities.
