Love Handles? Here's Why I Tried CoolSculpting
It’s the classic patient story. He’s been an athlete his entire life and a true believer in living a healthy lifestyle, which includes regular exercise and trying to eat healthy most of the time. But work demands and time constrains lead to eating on the run. The fact that he’s not 20 any more means he doesn’t burn the fat as easily. The result? A middle-aged guy who feels like he should have a 6-pack, but who in reality has a tire.
Sound familiar? Well, this time, it’s my story and the reason this doc recently became the patient.
Problem: Love handles, flanks, I could “pinch an inch”
It’s true. I’ve been an athlete my entire life. In my earlier years as a surgeon-in-training, it was difficult to eat healthy and consistently workout because I was exhausted from long hours on call. Frequently I would eat on the run and it wasn’t always the best food. Wearing scrubs all the time didn't help keep the waistline trim either because the drawstring can always be loosened up just a tad to accommodate the tire.
But I was younger then. It’s easier to burn the fat when you’re in your 20s and 30s, and it finally caught up with me. Although, I train regularly — 5 days a week! — and eat healthy 90% of the time, I just don’t burn the fat as easily. That stubborn tire around the waist? Nothing helped to flatten it out. How could this be? Despite being in the best shape of my life, those love handles constantly reminded me that I didn’t look like it.
Okay, so maybe I’m vain. A little. But really, all I wanted was to look how on the outside how I feel on the inside. This too is a familiar patient story. It’s not that I’m unhappy with how I look or feel, but if I could tweak things just a little, it would be the icing on the cake.
That’s when I decided to give CoolSculpting a try.
The beauty of this non-surgical procedure is that it can be performed in a couple of hours and requires no downtime — perfect for anyone with a hectic schedule. In fact, I took things a step further and decided to partner with SculptMD, a practice devoted to non-surgical fat reduction with CoolSculpting. Being able to offer this treatment to my patients under the same roof adds a comprehensive approach to achieving their aesthetic goals.
As for my results? I'll be posting these later in September!
