Kojic Acid or Hydroquinone for Underarm Hyperpigmentation

Underarm hyperpigmentation is very bothersome for patients because it seems unhygienic and not very cosmetically appealing. Often the rings coincide with the areas where sweat would extend on clothing. Treatments should be aimed at controlling the hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) and avoiding traumatic shaving and perhaps opting for laser hair removal instead.

As well, skin bleaching agents such as Kojic acid and hydroquinone under physician guidance is encouraged.

The bleaching process will take about 6 months to a year for full effect.
