Still fantastic

I had my follow-up visit today (1 week and 2 days post surgery) and everything looks and feels great. Still some good scabs inside but they don't bother me much and there is no goo coming out of my nose. Life is pretty much back to normal :)

I will check back in with Dr. Younger in 3 weeks.

I always felt I am not getting enough air through...

I always felt I am not getting enough air through my nose and finally got it examined last year. Turns out my septum hat a huge dent in it and closed of my left nostril pretty well and I also had enlarged turbinates. After a consultation with Dr. Younger I decided to get it fixed, it seemed like a pretty straight forward procedure.

My surgery was 2 days ago, on Jan 13. I checked into the hospital at 10 AM, did all admission things and was seen by Dr. Younger and the anesthesiologist. Both were great and managed to help me calm down and answer some of my final questions. If you are in Vancouver, BC and need anything done around your face – I can highly recommend him!

Surgery itself was pretty fast, between last time I checked the clock before I drifted off into anesthesia and the first time I was full awake and checking the clock in the recovery room only 1 hour had passed.

Whatever they used for anesthesia, it was great! No headaches, barfing…
My recovery nurse watched me for 2 hours and then I was released into another recovery area where I received follow-up care instructions, my pain med prescriptions and a final dose of Tylenol 3’s for the drive home.

I had no splints but packing in, which I pulled out after 24 hours. I was so scared, a lot of reviews said this was the worst part. My doc tied some beautiful loops at the end of those nose tampons and I just hooked my fingers in and they slid out. Maybe I have an extra snotty nose that made it easy but it was no big deal at all.

The rush of air was one of the most beautiful things ever! This is what I had been missing out on my whole life?? I was warned that it will swell up again afterwards and it did but I can still breathe fine through my nose.

I only took pain meds the first night but I didn’t sleep at all due to the completely packed nose and I don’t seem to be a good mouth breather :(

I bled a lot until the packing came out, as soon as it was out all stopped.

I have a follow-up appointment next week but so far this has been better than I could have imagined. I am back at work but have a non-physical desk job.
