I've wanted a rhinoplasty procedure done since I was about 13-14 years old. I am now 26 and was finally able to do it. I've always felt my nose could have been more refined, shorter, I had z, throughout college and so on. My parents were never supportive of the idea and financially i couldn't do it on my own. Finally, after lots of convincing and just asking/begging for support, my parents agreed; I got married last year and my husband supported me as well. Last year, summer of 2011 I began to go on consultations. First consult I went to, I just did not get a good feeling from the surgeon; I felt rushed and he was very pushy, he was located in Wayne, NJ. Second consult was also in Wayne, NJ; this doctor wanted me to get an MRI because he tried convincing me that I had a deviated septum (which I definitely do not, but he would have been able to charge my health insurance and also have me pay for the cosmetic part of the procedure). At this point my wedding was coming up in November, I still hadn’t found a plastic surgeon that I felt confident with, so I was just discouraged; my wedding was around the corner and just had to focus on planning it (although I wish I had the procedure done before the wedding). So after I got married I moved to Westchester County (Ossining), NY from Clifton, NJ. Finally got settled in, I had everyone's support especially my dad who pretty much helped me pay for the whole procedure. The only thing I had to do was find the right surgeon. Anyone going through making the decision of actually getting the procedure done, I’m almost positive that you have fears of possible cosmetic irregularities, mistakes or just simply ruining your face. This was my biggest fear because it's a voluntary surgery and the only person I would have to blame was myself. Not only that, your nose is in the center of your face, if something went wrong you would have to live with this for the rest of your life, not to mention how pricey it would be to fix it again. To that end, it was CRUCIAL that I find an EXCELLENT Plastic Surgeon. I started researching plastic surgeons in Westchester County. As I googled "plastic surgeons in Westchester County," Dr. Robert Ciardullo's name came up; I clicked on his name and started reading the reviews. The reviews were all fantastic and almost all were for Rhinoplasty’s. I was very interested. I called and made an appointment for a consult. My consult was IDEAL. Dr. C was just so honest, genuine and explained every single thing about the process. He was straight forward; my husband and my mother-in-law went with me. I wanted them there to also get their opinion of the Dr. and the whole experience. They LOVED Dr. Ciardullo. They are tough critics and if they felt comfortable I knew this was a good thing. Dr. Ciardullo told me exactly what he thought I wanted to refine or get done on my nose before i even said anything. He was correct about every single detail. What I also liked is that he knew how important this was to me and he was also very sensitive to all my concerns such as possible cosmetic irregularities. All I could say is that he is so empathetic, comforting and also he WAS NOT pushy like the other Dr.'s I had met. Most importantly, he is very knowledgeable; he addressed every single concern with honesty, details and examples to back everything up. When I left his office I was so confident that I wanted him to do my rhinoplasty. A week later, I set up the date for my procedure. My procedure took place on March 29, 2012. Also, my mother-in-law is EXTREMELY savvy in doing research on everything and anything. She did lots of research on Dr. C and found only POSITIVE feedback and excellent credentials. Dr. C in part of the AAPS, ASPS and he is Board Certified. I was told these are the society's and certifications a PS should have when considering plastic surgery.
I was a little nervous as the surgery date was pending, but more excited and just wanted to do it finally and feel at peace with myself. I had to get blood work done, I started taking Arnica Montana and Vitamin C with bioflavonoid in advance as per Dr. C. He also prescribed antibiotics which I had to start taking the day of the surgery after the procedure. I had to go for a pre-op appointment; Dr. C just reviewed everything with me and answered any other questions I had. Surgery day was a BREEZE. Dr. C has an amazing team working for him. Bobby, who takes care of all appointments and tells you exactly what you have to do pre-surgery, she is also an RN so you can ask her almost anything; Eileen one of the nurses prepped me before surgery; she was SO SO SO sweet. She was very comforting and made me feel at ease so very much. Dr. Joel Greenspan was the anesthesiologist. He was very nice and also very gentle and put me at ease. Before I knew it i was in recovery and felt good just a little groggy. Lorreta, another nurse was so wonderful and took care of me post-op in recovery. She was sweet, funny, caring and just really treated me well. My in-laws picked me up after surgery; Loretta helped walk me down to the pick up area.

Ultimately, I am so thrilled that I went through with the procedure. It was so simple and recovery was a breeze for me. I recovered very well because Dr. C was very gentle during surgery. After all that is said and done, if you are going to go through with something like this, the person performing the surgery must be very EXPERIENCED, TALENTED, BRILLIANT and of course must have an EXCELLENT ARTISTIC EYE AND TALENT. Dr. Ciardullo is truly has all of these qualities. I've wanted this procedure all my life and it was IMPERATIVE that the Doctor performing this surgery know that I could not physically or psychology be able to deal with any mistakes or irregularities. If you want to go through with a rhinoplasty procedure or any other cosmetic procedure you must ensure that the surgeon is the BEST. Dr. C has performed not hundreds but thousands of rhinoplasty’s and that’s the type of experienced surgeon you want operating on your face! The only people that were able to notice any difference are the ones i told about the procedure. No one else did unless they knew. I love love love the results. Each day my nose gets better! I will post pictures. Remember, it is your face that you have to live with forever, do your research!

Lastly, DR Ciardullo is an amazing surgeon, his team is fabulous in every way and you will feel so comfortable and at ease. I am so thrilled with my results.
