After 15yrs + struggling with acne, treating with Differin, antibiotics, birth control, Proactive and every OTC product out there I ditched my Dermatologist and Primary MD and started seeing an aesthetician. After 5 years of very little help and $100/mo in treatments I got pregnant and my skin cleared up for the first time in my adult life... But was short lived. My post pregnancy hormones raged and once again was back to the aesthetician. This February I went to our new Primary Care doc who recommended a Derm doc for my moles and acne. I agreed, but wasn't interested in acne treatment because nothing worked in the past. She referred me and told me to ask for Accutane or nothing.
I wish I could say it was smooth sailing from there. My referral was horrible from beginning to end. The screwed up my iPledge account and I had to go see a different Dermatologist. I have had lots of trouble with the rx because of the cost v insurance... But I have a solid one month dose now and am just praying that next month will go smoother. Long story short, 6 trips to three pharmacies for 30 day supply. It's been a rough 4 months trying to get on the rx, I hope it's worth it. I don't have my hopes up.
My review: below are my before photos from day 1 of treatment. I am 3 weeks into treatment. I started experiencing dry lips from day 5. Bloody noses since last Saturday, and everyday since despite using Aquaphor in the nose. I have a slight amount of dryness on my face, but my acne hasn't cleared up.

6 week update

I'm 6 weeks into treatment now.
My dosage was increased from 40mg to 60mg at my last visit and she said my side effects were pretty standard. Dry lips, (which in her opinion wasn't much) dry patches on my arms and legs, bloody noses and mystery rash on my arms. I use aquaphor on my arms and in my nose morn/eve and it's worked well.
I got a mega breakout on my back about 10 days ago with really painful under the skin acne. This is new to me because I rarely ever had a breakout on my back. Very annoyed.
Also I can definitely see how quickly a breakout clears up once I get one on my face. I had an enormous cyst on my chin that I did not touch by woke up with a scab in the morning. That was Thursday and its almost gone today, Sunday.
Anyway I still have the acne beard, tho most seem artificial, still have a couple cysts. Nothing exciting to report at this point.
I can't stress enough how important it is to stay away from picking. They turn into wounds! Best to ICE a new breakout if you're going anywhere near it, DO NOT pick!

Nearing the 2 month mark

I feel like my progress is 2 steps forward, 1 step back.
Two weeks ago I had a horrible breakout, followed my unbelievable dryness- Aquaphor didnt make a dent.
The bacne mostly subsided, but left two painful cysts that just won't go away.
I've got the same old symptoms as usual. Dry lips and around nose/mouth and nosebleeds.
I woke up with a new acne flare this morning. Not shocked, but still disappointed.
Got some new symptoms to note. Extremely delicate skin on my arms- I picked my son up yesterday while he was wearing jeans and the stitches on the back pockets tore up my arms. I included pictures.
Also the creases in my arms are sticky and so are my legs. Its strange.
I've noticed a lot more fatigue and back aches as well.
I've included updates on my face, it isn't pretty.
Tomorrow I have my blood test for the next RX and see my Derm Monday.
Hoping for better results to come in the next four weeks. I hear that the 12 week mark is a turning point for some, maybe it will be for me too.
