My name is Alyssa.
I've been very unlucky in the breast department, i went from being an A cup in 6th grade to being a DDD cup by 8th grade, but i didn't stop growing there. By the time i was in 11th grade and only 17 years old, i was at 38GG. Now i'm not on the obese side (granted i was a little chubby) and i'm only 5'2 in height, so you can imagine how un-proportional i looked with such large breast. Once i was out of high school, i started eating better and just by doing that, i was able to loose 30 pounds, but i didn't go down a single cup size. i only went from a 38GG to a 36GG, i was pretty disappointed by that.

My biggest problem however, was how much back pain i was in all the time. Didn't matter if i was just sitting down, blending over or walking, i was in constant pain. i had to order bras from a specialty store because normal stores wouldn't carry my size, i would have to wear a back compressor anytime i would do anything physical. This started back when i was just in high school all the way until just a couple of months ago. I had been dealing with this for almost 9 years, and it had gotten so bad that after i was done with work each day (i'm a pastry chef, stand on my feet for 9-10 hours a day, lot of running around, physical labor) i could barely move. My back was killing me and it made me never want to do anything outside of work. i wanted to loose more weight but exercising was damn near impossible at that point. i had had enough.

Now i was thinking of getting a breast reduction back when i was 18, but i was chubby and also considered too young for that kind of procedure. 5 years later, i was no longer so heavy and also at an acceptable age. I didn't want to wait any longer. So i started looking up plastic surgeons who have done many breast reductions, i went to a few different places to check out and ended up liking one of the plastic surgeons very much. My insurance approved the surgery, and by January of this year, i had it done. My doctor ended up taking 600 mls out of each breast (including some of the breast tissue that goes around the side and under the arm) so i had quite a lot taken out. My nipples were also reduce in size and relocated to make them look more perky (my breast were sagging pretty badly from how heavy they were). I went from a 36GG to now being a 36D, i can't tell how vast of an improvement it has made to my life. My chest feels so much lighter and looks better, my back pain has significantly reduced to where it isn't effecting my daily life anymore. I've gone down 2 whole sizes in clothing, and finding bras are now a breeze. I'm finally starting to exercise again and am hoping to hit my goal weight. i have felt my quality of life go way up in just these few months after the surgery.

I will tell you, it is painful for the first few weeks to about a month after the surgery is done. You have to be very careful when moving around and taking showers as to not pop any stitches, but after that you'll see and feel the world of difference it has made. The scaring isn't bad, i have porcelain skin so the scars will be noticeable for maybe a year or more, but i'm ok with that, scars fade. Probably the only problem i have had is that one of my nipples have gone numb, it might only be due to the fact that my breast are still swollen (swelling can last up to year after the surgery depending on how much is being removed) or it might be this way for the rest of my life. Honestly through, that is a small price to pay in the end, and again i'm ok with that. I don't regret getting this done a single moment. And i'm glad i had it done at a younger age.

The advice i want to give to any who have experienced something similar or just wants to look better is don't wait. Do your research on the risks, on plastic surgeons near you, if your insurance will cover it, if this is truly your only option or if you can do something different. Know what you're getting into and go into it confidently. Don't wait til you're older, when you can improve your life now. I hope my story will inspire and help others.
