Here is my story:

I had Botox treatment in 2008 and 2009.After the 2. treatment the dose was increased and I had it every time only between my eyebrows. When I had my 3. treatment , after that I started to feel ill, very unpleasant feeling. The next 6 months I had different symptoms step by step like: -chest pain , breeding problem , losing hair , allergies symptoms , very tense in my throat- spine – stomach.

My doctor sent me to the outpatient Hospital to see the heart condition, they found irregular heartbeats, lung scan was ok, blood test was ok too. My hair losing got serious, my hair become very thin.

When I got my 4. Botox treatment in October 2009 , I got kind of nerve attack on the same day. I could not control my body for 6 hours. I was on my own in the house. It was very very scary! After 6 hours I could calm down and had to go to the airport travelling back to London. ( I had my 4 Botox treatment in Hungary in a private clinic as Iam Hungarian, the Botox was from Ireland )

The next day I went to my doctor in London(Ive been living in London for 10 years) and he sent me again to the outpatient Hospital to searching what is going on with me : Pshychology , Neuroloist, even MRI brain scan, because I felt a huge tense and pain on the left side of my head and brain.

The tenseness is so huge still in my body and in my brain, I feel like a volcano inside me with cramps and dizziness in my brain, huge adrenalin flushes, I have visions, an other world in my brain. This feeling is there all the time, all day long. Very hard thing to control.

The doctors opinion was that I have nerve attack symptoms , I have ANXIETY or nerve attack. I lost also 10 kg in a months.Later he told me also could be from poisoning. Iam suffering so much from the symptoms that I can not work only a few hours a week as Iam a fitness instructor and personal trainer. I had also 2 sorter attack since the bigone.

Iam desperate, I was looking for the solution what could cause all of this problem as I have very healthy lifestyle ( no alcohol, smoke, drugs ) and Iam a positive person. My family and my closest friend told me about the Botox long term side effects are still unkown or they are kept secret , not really published. I started to searching on the internet and found people with the same side effects as me.

I was thinking all the time:

Is it going to be over? What do I need to do to clean my body quick as possible? I started having Acupunture and Chinese medicine, but the symptoms are still there.
The Botox was one of my biggest mistake in my life!

I emailed one of the leader Doctor in the UK but he answered he has never heard of this kind of side effects symptoms of Botox.

I do not know where to go, who to ask, are the Neurologist doctors do know what to do with the Botox side effects?

If a specialist could give me some advice, who had already experienced the symptoms with clients,I would be very appreciate.

Since my last botox I contacted the only botox manufacture, they sent me a form to fill in, which I returned to them but since than i have not heard anything from them. They have not advise me yet what to do, is it an allergic reaction side effetcs or the amount was too high??? There was not any health cheking up that will be any permanent damage in my brain or heart or the all body......

Updated on 2 Feb 2011:
Its been 16 months from my last Botox treatment and about 80% recovered.I have few contacts with the same situation which I regulary communicate with , we know about our symptoms and recovery , giving advise to eachother.

Its a huge help if you know people who has the same situation.Noone around me could understand what I experienced... and how the symptoms changed time to time.

Allergan sent me a letter about the wrinkels after my detailed reporting, so there wasnt anybody who could give me professional advise.

I will never use Botox again and I wouldnt reccomend it to people.

Its been 16 months from my last Botox treatment and about 80% recovered.
I received a letter from Allergan after my detailed report , letting me know that my wrinkel will appear again after 5-6 weeks and if I have any problem I should go to my GP...

I learned my lesson not to put poison into my body anymore, I will never use Botox again!!
This 2 years experience from the side effects was a very very bad part of my life.

For the new Botox users: if you decide to try Botox , monitor yourself if you have ANY allergic reaction after the firstone , dont go for the second!

Sorry to here about your side effects. I have had similar side effects (intense headaches, blurred vision, severe sinus pressure). I'm not sure why Allergan hasn't done anything about this problem. It's almost like Allergan wants to ignore that people are having SEVERE negative reactions from Botox injections. I continue to have problems. It's been 11 months since my injection.

I am doing really good, It has been since May, I feel so much better and my face is fine. I have no physical symptoms left either.
In the mornings I can see the muscles are not working on the one side of my crows feet as much as the other but as the day goes on it is not even noticable.
It does get better ladies, time is the key.

I had a botox treatment done around my eyes about 3 months ago. My hair started to fall out soon after, 2 weeks after the treatment I noticed big change in the way my hairstyle looked and could not figure out why. Soon after that I figured out I am loosing lots of hair. As there is not much information on loosing hair as part of side effect when getting botox done I visited my doctor to see if there is anything else wrong. She assured me it is not the Botox and sent me for many tests. My test came back clean, but my hair loss continued. I have searched the internet for hours to see if I can find any information or connection between hair loss and botox. I did come across few people that have the same problem. It is now 3 1/2 months after the treatment and I have lost lots of hair I am forced to be very creative with the way I do my hair. If this continues I will have to actually start wearing wigs. I can see my scalp and it is not where I part my hair. I have lost about 50% of the volume I used to have. If anyone went through the same hair loss, can you please reply if your hair ever came back, how long did it take for the hair to stop falling out? My boyfriend is telling me that I will be beautiful without the hair like Annie Lenox ( I know she had short hair but was she bold?) . In any case, honestly I rather keep the hair and keep the wrinkles. I will never go for BOTOX treatment again. First and last time for me.

Hello Jatiga, Don't worry that much, when Botox totally washes out from your body, mostly in six months, your body will recover and your hair will grow back. Try to drink s lot water during the day(8cups). Usually, it takes 3 months to see hair loss, if the cause is a chemical substance or a medicine. I had this experience(intensive hair loss plus high blood pressure) myself which started 3 months after having Botax. Now a year has passed and I am much more better( my blood pressure came back to normal and much less hair loss! God knows, doctors make lots of money with this toxin and without any effort. They may ignore their patients' complain about hair loss and side effects, and for sure they do! Good luck

Hello girls, My hair has been thinning for the past 2 years. Within the past few months it has gotten worse. My part hast become wider and no matter how I do my hair I can still see the areas where there is no hair. I talked to my doctors about it and so far I've been told it's probably due to peri-menopause. I've had blood work done and its all been normal and have had my thyroid checked as well. I've been having Botox done every 4-5 months for the past 3 years. I never thought that this could be the reason for my hair loss. I did notice that the treatments led me to have really dry eyes. After looking on-line for reasons for my hair loss, I came across your letters. I never would have thought of Botox being the reason. I have been so much happier without the wrinkles on my forehead and between my eyes. Now I have to deal with losing my hair in order to have my face look better? Uggh! Well, I will speak to my doctor about it and stop the treatments and see what happens. My hair has always been thick and full and now it is thin and delicate, even my scalp feels tender. I can't believe this has happened. I really thought it was happening due to peri menopause, altho I have no other symptoms. Thank you for cluing me in.
luvalnature 24 Nov 2011
I confirm this letter.
Mojan 24 Nov 2011
As you said I had this tender scalp the day I had my injection and at least for a week and still sometimes even after more than a year, I feel it!

God knows, but for sure at the ages near monopause our hair is more sensitive to chemical substances!
jatiga 24 Nov 2011
Well it has been 9 months since my hair started to fell out and even though some of it started to grow back the volume isn't where it was before botox. Time will tell if my hair will ever grow back or the Botulinum killed it off.
luvalnature 25 Nov 2011
Well at least we're not alone in all of this dreadfulness. Lets keep in touch with each other on our progress. I'm trying to do my best to stay positive. I do think that many of the doctors that use Botox are unaware of this side effect, unfortunately=( Hopefully our hair follicles have not been killed off for good. We have to think positive!!
luvalnature 25 Nov 2011
Oh, and by the way, my doctor put me on this drug called spironolactone to try to combat the loss of hair. We'll see what happens=0

I have been going crazy for the last two weeks wondering what is going on with my body...now I am so glad that I stumbled upon this site. I received my first botox injection end of March 2012 within about two weeks I started to notice substantial hair loss...several doctors have told me point blank that it is not the botox. Now, last week I started having severe eye dryness, i went to the store and got thera-tears drops and they have given me some relief. I work at a desk at a computer and this afternoon I was putting in the drops every 15 minutes just to be able to see! I called my eye doctor...and he once again assured me that in no way this is caused by the botox. Now that I read the postings here I am fearful that I have caused some dreadful autoimmune system response in my body...all because of my vanity. I am feeling such guilt over having this done. I am having a lot of personal problems right now - sick child, stress at work, and marriage problems - why did I make the decision to get these injections and bring all of these problems on??? Has anyone found anything that will remove the botox from your system sooner? Anything that has helped to stop or reverse the hair loss? Even the eye dryness - will this last for a year or more? I can hardly do my job...I don't' want to risk losing it...I feel so depressed...
jatiga 2 May 2012
I am back, it has been 14 months since Botox, my hair loss continued on & off some weeks there was a one bunch of hair after each shampoo and sometimes there were two bunches. So very depressing and no-one to help you.
I went to see a new doctor to repeat all the test and they came back clean, I was assured again it is not botox.
My doctor said it is probably stress, I disagreed. He gave me some expensive topical prescription liquid that made my hair hard but did not helped.
From day one after botox my scalp was painful to the touch and I had on and off very weird feeling like you have something crawling under your skin on top of your head.
You know there is something wrong but you do not know what.

I been taking biotin and lysene to promote hair growth whole last year but I didn't see any difference, than at about 11 month into my ordeal I started to take iron and zinc supplements. 2 weeks after that my hair loss slowed down. I think now I am back almost at the same hair loss speed as before botox (BB). Hope this helps, let me know if you notice anything.
mommyJ 8 May 2012
Thanks for your comment Jatiga. I too have recently starting taking iron supplements and the hair loss appears to be slowing down. Or it could be that I am now so focused on my eye problems that I'm not noticing the hair loss so much. My dry eyes have been somewhat relieved by a steroid drop given by eye Dr. (2 times a day) and tear drops (preservative free vials). However now my left eye is having more problems. The whole eye is sore, and the area all around my eye socket...like in the regions of my sinuses is sore to touch and achey. It is now difficult to see well out of this eye and I have gotten very sensitive to bright lights...and computer screens...which is not good when your job is on the computer all day! Another weird thing occurred two days ago. When I woke up my face looked fine. Then I did some exercises. One of my lower back exercises involves laying on the stomach and raising either or both of your arms and legs. When I do this, I usually cross my arms and my hands are resting against my forehead when I raise up. After these exercises I went to brush my teeth and was shocked to see a well defined dent in the middle of my forehead - about 1 inch long, purply bruised looking. I just about panicked. I took a warm washcloth to the area hoping that an increased blood flow would smooth things back out. I did my best to hide it with make-up and went to work. Luckily the area smoothed out a lot by the end of the day. Does this mean that I shouldn't be touching or pressing anything against my forehead???? Will this madness never end???
