Worth It
Spent: $4,500 in Virginia Beach, VA

I love my results of tis surgery.  I wish I would have done it sooner.  This was an all laser procedure. I had it done on Friday May 2nd and went back to work that Tuesday. There was no pain at all.  I have never used so many eye drops in my life (required medication for recovery)...lol.  I chose this procedure because I personally have a fear of the flap that is created in the Lasik procedure.

The doctor that I went to is the developer of Supralase. He refined the methodology for the exquisite "no touch" corneal surface vision correction.  Supralase's unique mathematical formula with its very precise pharmacological regimen secures the procedures pristine outcomes.  Supralase is successful in the treatment of myopia and astigmatism.

What differentiates SUPRALASE from PRK or other flap procedures like LASIK or INTRALASE?

SUPRALASE was awarded and holds a United States Federal Patent as a unique method of laser vision correction.  It is the only patented all laser, no corneal flap vision correction procedure available.

·        SUPRALASE eliminated the need for the following: mechanical brush, suction rings, microkeratome, and dissecting instruments:  PRK uses a mechanical brush to remove the epithelium (the layer that needs to be removed to be able to correct the shape of the cornea). LASIK uses a microkeratome, suction rings, and dissection instruments to create and lift the flap.  INTRALASE uses a laser to initiate flap creation but still requires surgical dissection for flap elevation.  SUPRALASE uses a laser to complete this process and there is no corneal flap created.

·        The unique SUPRALASE formula allows an all laser customization of your treatment:  With the measurements received in the preliminary tests for your procedure Dr. Rampona calculates using the SUPRALASE formula and enters the data into the laser to ensure you reach your best personal vision.  This formula customizes your treatment in order to reduce the need for an enhancement.

Updated on May 28, 2008:

If you are considering any form of laser eye surgery and have been told you are a good candidate, I would say "Go for it!"   It is so worth it in the long run.  I do not miss sticking contacts in my eyes, walking around with one contact because the other bothered me throughout the day, or wearing glasses when I run out of contacts.

My vision is EXTREMELY clear, I actually think my vision is better than it was with contacts, but I will not find out until June 4th when I go for my first complete eye exam since surgery.

Be very careful before getting this done...it cost me 4G and lasted approx. 18 mos. I did not realize that it could be temporary..I thought it was a ongoing vision correction that would not need anything done after...my vision has returned as if I did not have the procedure.Granted there are problems for each individual such are near-sightedness, dry eye etc. I only wish I heard from people who are unsatisfied having this done and not only hear about the good ones. There are always possibilities that it will not improve after surgery.

My vision was horrible before my procedure. My glasses prescription was -11 and my contacts were -10. I did one eye at a time so we could monitor the progress and I was not guaranteed perfect vision at the end because my eyes were so bad to start with. But for about 2 years my first eye was perfect. It has now started to decline. I can still see most things and the vision isn't bad it just isn't what I've had the past several years. I'm afraid my second eye will start to do the same thing and if that happens I'm afraid I will need glasses again. That makes me mad that I might have wasted so much money.
