Hi everyone! I have been reading alot on this site...

Hi everyone! I have been reading alot on this site from you all and thought I would start my own story and tell everyone a little about myself. I am 50 years old as of this past Sept. and I have had large breast that started in 5th grade. I can remember the kids teasing me unmercifully about them so long ago. I was the only girl in our 5th grade class that had boobs! It was awful! And as each year progressed I got bigger. When I was 15 and in freshman year in school I wore a D cup. A big D cup. As the years have passed and I have gained and lost weight ( only had 1 child) I have grown into a DDD/E cup or bigger and they are def pointing to my stomach instead of in front of me as is expected with age.. I am now at 240 lbs and having this surgery for a completely different reasons than alot of you. I had L5/S1 lower back surgery in Sept 2012. I weighed the same. 240 lbs. At 1st the surgery was great. No pain. No nothing. It was such a relief to not be in so much pain. Well.....appr 6 weeks later my family Dr was giving me cotizone shots in both hips for what she said was bursitis. They helped for a few weeks. Anyway....Readers Digest version.......I have continued to receive those cortizone shots and so much more. I take a table full of pills. Pain killers, anti immflamatories, lyrica and cymbalta for nerve pain. It has really been retarded. I feel like a walking pharmacy. The pain I have now is from a crushed femoral nerve in my back in the same place as my last surgery was. Like in the same area. Numerous MRI's and xrays and still more to go have had my life just in turmoil for the last 2 years. And if you know anything about Canada....healthcare here is great....till you need a specialist. As for me....they couldnt get another dr to see me other than the neurosurgeon who did my surgery. The referral went in back in Feb to get an appt to see him and they said the waiting list was 9 months to a year. I am a patient and I still have to wait that long. I just got the call 2 weeks ago to get an appt with him. Feb 4th. Gah! Just 2 weeks after my breast surgery but I don't care. Least I finally got the appt. So anyway, I have been just miserable. Last Feb dr's put me on medical leave from work and to this day I am still not released as the pain is not resolved. My one dr ask me if I had ever considered having a breast reduction to help with the upper back pain? I just said oh hell yes....and she laughed and we talked and I told her if it would help my back I was all for it and besides....I have always always hated how big my breast are. So she sent my referral in to Dr Charles Kettle in Sudbury. Within just a few weeks I suprisingly got a call from his office for a consultation with him. It was set for Oct. 28. I went to the appt and his nurse talked with me and gave me pre-0p instructions before I even talked with the dr. I was kinda in shock. Like she already knew he was going to do the surgery. WOW. so anyway....he came in after a bit and we chatted for only a few minutes. He said yes I was a very good candidate and oh yes 100 % it would help my upper back and my posture. He put some dots on me with a marker and measured me where my nipple would be and ask how much my tattoo meant. I told him just keep the rabbit head thats all I cared about and then he ask if I had given any thought to size. I told him I would love to be just a C size. He looked and felt and said he was sure he could get me there. He said that OHIP would not pay for lypo on my sides but he didn't think it would be bad anyway and then he told me as soon as OHIP approved me to have the surgery - which would be at least 6 weeks for sure before they heard from them then I would get the call to set up the surgery. Receptionist called me on Dec 3rd and told me they had an opening for Jan 21 if I still wanted to have the surgery or they would give me more time to think about it if I need it. No way. Set it up. I am way past ready. LOL! So here I am ....2 weeks out from have a smaller bust and I cannot wait. I cannot do a review other than to sat Dr Kettle's staff are so nice. Both Receptionist and Nurse were great with me. He knew before he walked in the room that he was going to do the surgery and I was a great candidate. I can't help but wonder if seeing my reports and knowing I already had back surgery and the pain I was in- if that didn't push them a little with me because I have heard the waiting list here are anywhere from 9 months to a year before you heard from them to just get the consultation. I know it's true with the neurosurgeon. I waited 8 months for 1st consultation with him. I am very happy that I was promoted to the front I tell you. Anything to get some relief in my back is gonna help me so much. And my biggest goal for 2015 is to not be on all these meds. Well except the hormone replacement. I will continue to take it for the next 40 years if I have to. Anyway. Thats my story. I will post more as we get closer to my surgery date. To tell you I am excited doesn't even seem to cover it. I have 3 mri's that I am waiting to get scheduled before this surgery hopefully since I will be seeing the neurosurgeon soon after this breast reduction. My biggest concern right now is what meds I am going to have to stop taking and when. Uggh. Gonna talk to my dr on friday and find out that for sure. Anyway. Will continue later.

So far-I like him a lot. This is gonna be better answered at a later date but so far......ok...so here is the later...I am day 2 post op and I must say....I couldn't have ask for a better dr or hospital. They were outstanding all the way around. Dr answered so many questions and was great to me even seeing me today between surgeries before we started on 3 hour drive home. He thought I looked fine and just take it easy for a few weeks. I go back to see him in 2 weeks so for now...I am going to follow his directions. At this moment in time....this operation has been above and beyond what my expectations were for it. I love the look of my breast now and my back pain is reasonably less than what it was. Dr. Kettle has a great big thumbs up from me! And the staff just so I don't forget.....are just so friendly and incredibly polite and seem to put you 1st every time. I don't know how they manage to do it but they do and I really appreciate being made to feel that way.
