I had one syringe of Restylane injected into my lips yesterday to make them bigger. The doctor I went to was extremely personable and up front with me. I felt comfortable with her and trusted her opinion. Her office called me the day of to make sure I was ok with having bruising, swelling and discomfort on Christmas, since I was having the procedure done just 3 days before.
At the office, I filled out the standard paperwork about my medical history, blah blah.
With the procedure, the doctor and I first discussed my goals with the injections. My top lip was very short and no volume. Bottom lip had minimal volume. She explained that you can't change the length of the mouth, but she would try to turn the corners up so it would give me more volume in the top lip. She also explained that with smaller lips, 1 syringe may not be enough & that celebrities like Kylie Jenner have about 4 syringes worth injected at once. That can get expensive fast!
First she put a numbing cream on my lips for 10 minutes, then began the injections. The numbing cream did its job, because I could barely feel anything. On a scale of 1-10, the injecting pain for me was a 3. Then she massaged and molded my lips with her fingers. Halfway through she let me look in the mirror to make sure I wanted to keep going. I did.
After she was done with the injections, she put some Arnica cream on my lips and gave me some ice. I iced them for a couple hours when I got home and went to bed early, trying to sleep only on my back.
Morning after, there's some swelling (I actually like how it looks with the swelling) and a little discomfort. There's no pain, just somewhat of an achy weird sensation. I'm trying not to move my lips a whole lot. My doc said I could take Tylenol for discomfort (nothing with Aspirin or Ibuprofen!), but I haven't felt the need to. There's minimal bruising only on the top lip in the corners, barely noticeable. I put on lipstick this morning to cover it up.
It's difficult to drink through a straw & to take bites of food. Also, there's tiny little bumps inside my bottom lip that I can feel with my tongue, but I'm not going to mess with them.
I'll update later with my progress.
