A couple more shots of my binder!

A couple more shots of my binder!

Seriously, if you're thinking about having a tummy tuck with Mr Marando, just go for it! I'd say make sure you're fit and at your ideal sustainable weight and fully prepared and covered to do NOTHING for a whole week after the op. And don't forget the arnica pills! Having the surgery was one of the best decisions I have ever made and I'm so happy I didn't hang around trying to decide! I feel the best and happiest I have ever done in my whole life. I truly feel that I can now embrace the rest of my life feeling confident and beautiful!

Even after my first cesarean, I noticed that my...

Even after my first cesarean, I noticed that my tummy has developed a slight overhang and by my third... Well you can see the pictures! I was so completely self-conscious of my hideous apron after my second cesarean that I started to think that surgery might be needed. After my second child was born, I spent two years exercising and finally reached my ideal size, except for the dreaded apron!! So frustrating.... I knew I wanted to have one more baby so didn't even begin looking into my surgery options until after she was born. I got fit again quickly after the third cesarean but my tummy just looked worse than ever. One evening, I started googling for procedures to deal with tummy aprons and that is when I found realself. What an eye opener! I quickly realised that a full tummy tuck was probably going to be the procedure for me!
I live 45 minutes from Manchester so really wanted to try and find a surgeon there, although I would have travelled to London if I'd felt that a better surgeon might have been there. I met with one surgeon who was very professional and thorough in the consultation and, if I hadn't been told it was wise to meet with at least two different surgeons, I probably would have chosen him. However, I went back to realself that night and found Mr Marando and all his brilliant reviews! The next day, I spoke to Martina, Mr Marando's secretary and booked a consultation.
I was so excited to meet Mr Marando having read all his reviews and I wasn't disappointed. We spent over one hour discussing what to do with my tummy, he confirmed what the other consultant had said but on top of that, he seemed much more interested in the final appearance of the scar and tummy, not just getting rid of the apron etc etc! He also seemed genuinely interested in me as a human being, rather than a client. I could also tell he was a complete perfectionist! I knew immediately that he was the surgeon for me. As you can see from my pictures, I used to have a tattoo. Mr Marando said he thought he could probably remove it completely but there was a chance I may be left with a wing tip, he wouldn't know for sure until I was in theatre. As you can see, it was a close cut thing but he did it!
I met Mr Marando for a second consultation to run through the final plan for surgery and again, was struck by his caring and thorough attitude. This was the first time my husband had met him and he agreed.
DAY OF SURGERY:
I arrived at the Bridgewater Hospital in Manchester at 9:30am. Mr Marando met me in my room. I was so excited for my tummy tuck, but even so, my heart was RACING! After spending 10 minutes with Mr Marando while he drew on my tummy, I felt much calmer. A nurse then took me to the operating theatre where I met a group of lovely nurses.I lay down, said hello again to the charming anaesthetist and that is all I remember. The next moment I was waking up! I really just felt very tired and my tummy stung a little. Mr Marando came to check on me a couple of times during the rest of the day. I spent one night in the hospital and returned home the next morning. The nurses who looked after me in hospital were very caring and I felt completely happy and comfortable the whole time.
At home, I spent 7 days pretty much in bed, propped up by a million pillows. I met Mr Marando for my 1week post op appointment in Manchester and he removed stitches, gave the wound a clean, taped it and agreed I was looking great (but with not much surprise as that is what he was expecting!!). By day ten, I was able to stand completely upright again, off all painkillers and here I am today, three weeks post op! I feel pretty much back to normal. I am still swollen but that is about it. My scar looks great, my tummy looks great and I feel amazing! Really!
There are a couple of things I thought were worth mentioning as they were concerns of mine. First, I was worried about nausea following the anaesthetic. Mr Marando said this simply wouldn't happen as he has the best anaesthetist there is and he was right, no nausea AT ALL. (Incidentally he has a funny story about getting a good anaesthetist if you go see him). The second thing I was interested in were the drains. Most reviews I have read talk about the misery of drains and how they're in for a week or more. Mr Marando told me his patients rarely need drains by the day after surgery, only if they are producing more than a certain amount of fluid. I barely had any fluid and they, as was predicted, were removed the day after surgery. I haven't had any problems with seromas etc. I got the impression that, not only does Mr Marando pride himself on the final aesthetical result he produces but also on his healing times. I think I am a testament to that!! My tummy looks beautiful, I can't believe the transformation already and it is still very swollen. My tummy button also looks perfect, so much prettier and more symmetrical than it ever was!
Mr Marando, you are the best! You're not only a brilliant surgeon, but a kind and caring man too and I feel so lucky to have found you! Thank you, so much.
