Stage 3 Invasive Breast Cancer at 48. Just Didnt Know I Was Going to Get a Makeover out of It! - Spartanburg, SC

I was diagnosed May 2014 with stage 3 breast and lymph node cancer. The only thing I could think was i didnt want to lose my hair. I've always wanted a breast reduction because I've been a "DD" since having children. The first thing the doctor wanted to do was a mastectomy and I would have to wait to have reconstruction after chemo and radiation. I really thought that I was fine with that until it happened. The first time I looked at myself in the mirror and I only had one breast I was devastated. I wanted both taken off but the doctor wanted me to wait until after everything and take the other breast off when reconstruction was done. I had to wait a year to finish my treatments before I could have the reconstruction done. I went to see Dr. Orseck not long after my mastectomy for a consultation and I'm so glad I did. He told me about the diep flap procedure and thought I would be a good candidate for it. He completed my diep flap procedure and nipple reconstruction and it looks great!!! I never thought I would be able to look at myself in the mirror again and like what I saw. Well I absolutely love what I see when I look in the mirror. Thank you Dr. Orseck for being such a great doctor and so compassionate about what you do. He is the most caring doctor that I've ever seen. His office staff is just like him. They made my journey with breast cancer so much better because of them. I would recommend him to anyone especially someone going through cancer. It just makes it so much easier when you truly trust your doctor and can tell he really cares about what you look like as much as you do. Thank you Dr. Orseck and all of your staff for going on my breast cancer journey with me and helping me come out feeling great about myself. You are a true blessing to have in our area.
