Day 5 post opp

Feeling good today! I'm hoping that my drain will stop filling so I can get it removed!

I am still in shock that I went through with this!...

I am still in shock that I went through with this! I am four days post opp, and I am already thrilled with the results. I am about 5'9", 140 lbs and athletic. I have never had breasts, even before babies. I know a lot of people consider themselves flat, but I was actually completely flat. After carrying and nursing three beautiful babies, not only was I still completely flat chested, my belly had a little extra flab. I couldn't even fit into little girls bras, and finding swimsuits was a nightmare. I pretty much wore a sports bra with pads every day.

Dr. Peters suggested breast implants and a mini tt. I didn't have enough skin for a full tt. I was happy to hear that, because I worked so hard to get back in shape after pregnancy. I expressed to her that I desired small breasts, but enough to fit into a bra or swimsuit. I finally decided on 213 cc medium profile implants. She suggested lower muscle repair with the mini tt, but after researching and thinking about it a ton, I decided to do skin only. The reasons I decided this were 1) a more natural look 2) fear of an upper belly bulge if only the lower muscles were tightened 3) easier recovery. Dr. Peters is an expert and an artist, so I'm sure the lower muscle repair would have been just fine, however, she supported my decision and agreed that it was the right choice for me considering my concerns.

The day of surgery was terrifying. The scariest part was walking into a real operating room. I had never been in one before. I laid down on the table and the next thing I knew, I woke up from a dream and it was all done! I was all wrapped up, and didn't unwrap until my post opp appointment 48 hours after surgery. I was expecting for it to be really rough, but it wasn't. It was BEAUTIFUL! My tummy already looked so nice and flat with a natural looking belly button (she moved it down a tiny bit to tighten my upper abdominal skin). My breasts are so lovely, and I think they'll only get more beautiful over time. I'm glad I went with my gut in choosing small implants, because that's really what I wanted. I don't want to turn heads, I just wanted breasts. I am already just feeling so glad that I did this, and I want to encourage other women to take the plunge too! I'll post pictures when I recover a little more.

I really like Dr. Peters as a person, but I wish I had chosen a different plastic surgeon. I had some dissatisfaction with my results and Dr. Peters dismissed my concerns in a condescending way and told me I'm too picky. I ended up going to another surgeon to do some liposuction on a lump on my hip caused by my mini-tt with Dr. Peters. Not only was Dr. Peters unwilling to work with me to achieve a result I was happy with, she also charged me for scar revision, and for office visits when I developed capsular contracture. Ultimately I felt anxiety calling her with questions or going to her office for follow up, because my concerns were always dismissed. Really disappointed in the experience. An update on my experience: I ended up going to a wonderful surgeon for full revisions. The new surgeon discovered a substantial pseudobursa from an untreated seroma (which Dr. Peters had known about, but chose not to treat). It is highly likely that this contributed to the "pooch" I was unhappy with after my mini-tt. Dr. Peters response to my dissatisfaction with the pooch was: "Most women would be very happy with your result". She never investigated what might actually be going on. When I went to see Dr. Peters two years post-op with pain in my left breast, she said I had capsular contracture. After taking Singulair for a few months, I went back in and she said everything felt great. I knew something still wasn't right, and I expressed that to her. After evaluation and revision by a different surgeon, it ended up that my muscle had retracted from over the implant and was pulled up very high in my chest. Another issue that Dr. Peters dismissed and hadn't taken the time or effort to address. The icing on the cake is that I paid for all these office visits to Dr. Peters - for her to tell me I was too picky and that she thought my results were very nice. I paid her to assure me that nothing was going on when in fact - I had major issues with my breast and tummy that were obvious to another surgeon. If I could give zero stars I would. So incredibly disappointing to go through full revisions and have to pay full price for them due to a surgeon who dismissed my valid concerns and real complications.
