Time for a Change!! New Year, New Nose - Royal Tunbridge Wells, GB

After being unhappy with my nose for the past 25...

After being unhappy with my nose for the past 25 years, I felt that the time had come to do something about it. I hate the overall width of my nose and the hump from the side view. I hate having photos taken and hope that that will change post-op!! I have had 2 consultations and feel confident with the surgeon I have chosen.

Day of op!!!

Just woken and it's the day of my op. A mixture of emotions - nervous but also excited. Good luck to everyone else who has their surgery today as well, can't wait to share results.

Back home!

Just arrived back home after an unsettled night. Surgeon really pleased with result but unfortunately had a lot of bleeding. He had to be called in during the night to pack my nose. Not pleasant!! He was very reassuring and I wasn't too worried. Difficult to eat but not in a lot of pain.

Difficult day!!

Had a difficult day so far. I am swollen and bruised, even my top lip has doubled in size. I knew I would have bruising as I had a spike on my nose due to breaking it many years and the surgeon mentioned the bone was very hard. Going this evening to have the packing removed and hope that the swelling doesn't get any worse after today!!

Feeling much better

I feel so much better today! Had the packs removed last night and it felt like such a relief. My lips are less swollen today and the bruising isn't any worse. I just feel extremely tired but feel like I have turned a corner.

So tired!!!

Things are getting easier each day. Bruising now a lovely shade of yellow and swelling moving down my face and now around the jaw line. Cast off Tuesday morning. The only real issue for me is lack of sleep, usually an 8 hour person!!!

Cast removed!!

Well had my cast removed today. So pleased with my side profile, no bump anymore. Still swollen from the front but confident I am going to see the result I am looking for. Just can't seem to get the surgical marker pen off my nose though!!

I slept!!!

Just thought I would check in quickly as I haven't for a few days. Had the best nights sleep for ages last night, although still sleeping slightly elevated and with a neck cushion as so worried about rolling over and knocking it. Still really swollen from the front, so much that I think people possibly wouldn't realise I've had anything done. I know I need to be patient as I had a lot of work done, but big think that is easier said than done! In photos it looks enormous!!! Keep having to remind myself that it's only been 2 full days since the cast removal and it's very early on in my journey!!

I haven't found it too bad, just make sure you have lip balm and drink plenty (through a straw first of all) to avoid a dry mouth and throat. It will be fine.

Okay I have to say personally it's been the worst haha. I thought it would be fine but i wake up like every hour choking cause my throat is so dry. then i drink water and go back to sleep but its quite a pain. looking forward to breathing through my nose again haha.
