7 days post op

I want to apologize for not updating you all after the sx. Well today is post op day 7. I have to say that my recovery has not been bad.
I went in for sx on Dec 12 @ 10am I did not go into surgery until about 1:30pm. I think I was out about 3p? I was truly out of it. When Dr. Cohen came out to draw me up, it all happened so quick after that. My husband was in the back with me ( I do have pics), they IV'd me up & into the Operating Room we went. After they talked to me about how good Im going to look after my surgery and starting holding my hands, I knew the gas was kicking in.. lol
I have one drain. I asked Dr. Cohen what was the difference between having 2 drains or 1 and his answer was that he preferred 1 drain above the pubic area as this will be a healing that will never be seen as the other 2 on the sides? ok...
On the first day, I was out of it.. I took my pain meds & slept... I did this for about 3 days.. I tried to stay ahead of the pain by taking it before time but honestly, I have to say I have more soreness than pain. I did "wash off" needed areas on day 3.. I did not eat for about 2 days just drinking gingerale and water. Today I thought I was getting my drain out BUT I didnt I am still at about 30ml and they want you UNDER 30ml which is ok.. I would rather drain now than have to keep going to the office to get drained. I have to admit I dont think that my binder was tight enough around my waist as it was around my chest. If my binder was tighter I probably would have had better luck of having it removed today. So far I am still walking bent over and yes I am still sore but my stomoch is very numb. Laughing and coughing is much better. MY back is hurting!!
When I went to see Dr. Cohen today, I honestly could not think of any questions except for when can I have sex... his answer was when you are comfortable.. WOW.. I have to go back on Monday when he say I will get my drain out..yaa (I have holiday plans!!) He looked at my scar touched my stomach and said everything looked good no signs of hematoma or anything else. KEY POINT TO THESE DRAINS.. make sure binder is tight around STOMACH so that it will help your fluid out & make sure to milk your tube often....
I have been THANKING GOD FOR KEEPING me so far as the news about the little girl going in for a tonselectomy and now brain dead!!! THANK YOU JESUS it could have been me & praying for her family!!

I have been on this site for a few months now. I decided to post because my time for surgery is drawing near and I'm in my feelings.. (lol) My surgery is scheduled for Thurs. 12/12/13. I was extremly nervous about having this TT done, telling myself that I wont wake up or that something will go wrong and a few days later....Im gone.. OMGoodness these thoughts have been haunting me for years.. I had several consults 2 with Dr. Basner and 1 with Dr. Cohen. I decided to go with Cohen even though there are not alot of reviews about him..I saw his work in person and he gave me a nice discount because my sis had surgery on the day of my conusultation. Dr. Basner & Dr. Cohen made me feel as ease about my feelings as they stated that they have not lost a patient on the table and that I am in good health. Dr. Cohen assured me that it was not about the money but my health and he refused til this day (6 days before my surgery) to accept any money for my surgery until I had clearance from my cardiologist & my PCP. I have high blood pressure. I am not as nervous TODAY as I have been about having the surgery. I just cant believe that I am less than a week away from being on the flat side.
I am trying to get prepared for the recovery as I DONT want ANYTHING to go wrong. This weekend I am getting my eyebrows, nails and feet done. I will be shaving on Tuesday. I am going shopping for my silicon strips, cough drops, pads, and much more stuff that is on my list that I dont have in front of me right now..lol I have metamucil as the dr's office told me to start it daily before surgery.
I am 44 years old with 2 young adults (19&23) and a GLAMbaby..I had a c-section with my last pregnancy. I have wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy to much stomach that I have been carrying around for years now & FAT YOU HAVE TO GO!!!!!!
Thank you for reading...Pls dont leave me I know I am going to need someone to talk to during my recovery time. Thanks to all that has posted about their surgery & I pray that everyone is well & pleased with their outcomes...ANY SUGGESTIONS RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PRODUCTS FOR RECOVERY IS APPRECIATED..

Gail is the best assistant eva. She is true to the T. Dr. Cohen came into the consultation after he did sx on my sister. I informed him of what I wanted done & my concerns. He was patient & informed me of the importance of taking care of myself with high blood pressure & shared that his family has a history of high blood pressure as well. He eased my concerns about dying & having high blood pressure with this sx. He was very calming and caring about my issues. I like Dr. Cohen...
