Recovery day 5

Swelling is going down.. Literally.. into my jaw and jowls and lips so I'm hiding out, I feel like I have elephantitis. Numbing is subsiding and brushing is lightening. Nose is still with splint and wraps, the littlest bit of tip is showing and husband said it looks as far projected as before. I was a little saddened by that butthead comment and hope it's just the swelling. I was hoping for all around smaller, and my nose was quite a mess before so I'm confident my PS worked some magic. still staying positive :)

Hello everyone!! I have stalked this site looking for answers to all surgeries questions. Now I have had my own experience to share. My procedures were on 10-6 and I had a septorhinoplasty along with cheek implants. I've wanted a rhinoplasty since about 6th grade when I started getting teased. My nose had so many quirks: hump, was crooked, deviated, bulbous, looked completely different from each of my 3/4 angles because of tip being bent inward on the nostril. has always made me so self conscious. Repositioning and not making eye contact unless completely necessary!! Staying out of pictures or deleting pictures. I also have children and a husband so when scrolling through I felt we didn't have enough together which made me overwhelmed with sadness. Who wants to live a life like that?! I don't..not anymore!! My surgery was only about 72 hrs ago. So I am wearing a splint on Nose which will be removed in a week. Have hit my nose yesterday felt like a numb hit but it must hurt because tears just started flowing...can't wait to see in a week the progress my nose has made. I also consulted with PS about my other profile insecurities and thought my chin was too strong and considered altering that. He mentioned cheek implant and I was interested from the beginning because after seeing myself and looking aesthetically at my features I realized I have flat cheekbones which was making my profile out of balance. (I think looking like my dad has cursed me. Love him so much...don't want to look like him so much :)) PS chose a Malar conform terino shell implant size large which I saw, felt, researched and just about obsessed over until I gave myself a break a couple days before surgery. I have never had any surgery before and didn't know what it would be like and let me tell you these cheek implants are kickin my ass. You wake up swollen, bruised and numb. that had continued to worsen over the next 24 hrs. I can understand why people get freaked out after this surgery!! You are unrecognizable swollen! combine that with numbing and not being about to smile normally and your bound to think you messed up! I am laying low from work for 2 weeks to have my face come down a bit and time will tell for me.(heard a great cover is to say you've had wisdom teeth out in case you don't want anyone knowing your business) healing times are reported all over the place from 10 days to 6 months to a year. This is a procedure that def needs time to heal to make an accurate rating. I am still googling after care techniques on what I can do recovery wise to comfort myself like ice packs/warm packs. Stay on top of meds to fight chance of infections. the numbing is normal and swelling and heaviness is normal..for now.. But Another tip is to just remain calm!! I went through a lot of face trauma with combining these surgeries. Unless the incisions are opened, oozing, very painful or a fever is present I am letting my face do its healing thing and staying optimistic. I am still considerably swollen and its too soon to judge any real appearance of the implant themselves. I will say this procedure recovery needs to be fully understood before gone through. So you won't have the nightmare reviews that attract so much attention. Another tidbit if you consider this surgery is to try a lot of different sizes and models of implants on and make sure your surgeon is helpful and educated in the areas you need augmented. Everyones bone structure is different and our desires are different. Good luck to everyone in your own journey hope you achieve success.
