Hello Ladies. I have been lurking on this site...

Hello Ladies. I have been lurking on this site off and on for two years - quietly watching and learning from your experiences, and waiting for my opportunity to get these implants out. I am so grateful for this site, and am thankful for all of the brave women sharing very intimate details with complete strangers, that become so supportive and caring of one another. This is AWESOME! I owe you all a huge THANK YOU!!! This site has been the best source of information and has truly helped to prepare me for this process! Its time for me to share, and to do my part.

First the basics. I am 5'4" and 120lbs, and was a happy small 34B. That is, until I had babies at 27 and 29. At 30-32, its like they completely deflated, and hung, unevenly. I wasn't very happy with that, but tried to deal with it. It wasn't until I was 38, that I decided to see a surgeon to see what could be done. I really just wanted them back where they belonged, same size, but after hearing all my options, eventually settled on a benelli lift and implants. They are 275's (filled to 290 and 300), mentor smooth saline moderates under the muscle. All went well, no complications.

A lot changes in 10 years. At 48, I need to have these taken out for a multitude of reasons. My health isn't the greatest, and they hurt, pretty much all the time to one degree or another. I live in Ontario, and because I am getting a straight removal with no lift, replacement, etc. AND because they are causing pain, and I have medical issues that the size and pain of the implants are contributing to...the explant procedure is covered under OHIP.

My explant day is July 16th. I'm having general anesthetic at the hospital, the plastic surgeon says I'll have drains for up to a week, I don't need a compression bra of any type, he isn't using antibiotics during surgery or afterwards, that antibiotics aren't necessary. Hugh? No antibiotics (with drains) for a week???? I questioned that repeatedly, and he was starting to get annoyed, so I'm going to see my family doctor on Monday to talk to her, and see if she thinks I need antibiotics. I am prone to infections because of my other health issues...and the surgeon is aware of these. Totally baffled...and sort of, panicked about that. Any thoughts, ladies?

I am really afraid they will look way worse than they ever did. I am wondering if the benelli lift I had at the time they were implanted will off-set some of the damage that the implants have done. I don't want any further surgeries/complications. I just want them out for my health, and am praying my body will recover to a decent extent. I am prepared for the worse, but hoping for a reasonable outcome. Only time and recovery will tell...

Last minute questions ladies...

My surgeon is putting in drains, which sucks, but I agree that it is a good thing to avoid complications. Trouble is, they could be in for up to a week. I hear you can't shower with them. Ok, so a sponge bath it is., but...

How the hell am I supposed to wash my hair????
Will I be able to raise my hands high enough to wash my hair in the laundry tub?
Is there a way to cover the drains, so I can take a fast shower?
And, I wonder if the sports bra band will hurt by putting pressure on the drains. How was that for pain?

Any tips for dealing with drains for a week would really help. If those who had drains could share a little with me about their experience with showering, pain, putting a sports bra on top of, that would be great. Hoping some first hand knowledge will help ease the jitters in the drain department...

Thanks girls!

Surgery is Tuesday, don't know what time yet, will find that out Monday afternoon. I'll try to post as soon afterwards as I can...
