BRAS BRAS AND MORE BRAS!!

I know I am not the only one who tried on what seems like hundreds of bras to try to get a good fit post explant. If you are an odd size like me (38A or small B). it's no easy task. I have found that bras with no cup sizing works best (SM, MED, LARGE, etc.) for me, as well as bralettes.

On my recent bra trying on excursion at Walmart--who seems to have the most selection, I found THE best bra that hooks in the back. I posted pics so if you want to check it out online, the item number is shown (Fruit of the Loom fresh collection, Item #FT514. They are only $5.00 and I am getting one in every color. BINGO! It's actually a junior bra, but the size Large fits me great. The removable pads are a little thicker to give more shape.

Also, going braless is now an option which I love, especially with tops/dresses that have the built in bra. I was worried about finding a bathing suit that fits, but found a tankini halter top at Target . I am also long waisted so I need a long top. I buy several different black bottoms and mix and match different tops.

Hope this info helps save someone time lol. Happy bra shopping! Sue

Nine Weeks Post Explant with Pics

In some ways, it feels like the surgery was so long ago but yet I can't believe it's been nine weeks already! I am feeling great and so glad I did it. It took me about 6 weeks to feel like they are really mine and I don't think about them any more. Cosmetically, I think I look better than my pre-BA and am very happy about that. My scars still have a little color but do not hurt at all and the scar tissue lumpiness is going away. My right side drain scar is still a little red, that was the side where I think the skin stuck to it a little since it really pinched coming out. My "grossly ruptured" right side skin at the upper pole was wrinkled in the beginning (from being stretched with cc and shape change) but is now smoothing out. I still also have more of a dip in the right side, but I expected it would look a little different. My (r) nipple is a little retracted. I probably could use a lift but glad I did not have it done now and 99.9 percent sure I won't have it done. I would rather have symmetry and less scars, especially being small. Like everyone states, they will keep changing up to one year.

My doctor gave me a full release at 6 weeks--no swimming or exercising before that. He just said if lifting or weights hurts, back off. He suggested getting a mammo at 6 months post. I am back to my ole' self and have been excercising and doing my normal routine without any pain. On the plus side, I lost 5 pounds after surgery and am keeping it off, yay! I have told several friends about my surgery and they have all commented that I look great. I am just so happy to be natural again and highly recommend the surgery if you are hesitant at all. I am posting on a separate update info on my new favorite bra from Walmart. My advice on bras--WAIT til about 6 weeks. Most of the sports bras I purchased earlier are now too big. Just get what you need for post surgery and be comfortable.

We are leaving for San Diego Monday for my (62nd) birthday, then flying to Seattle Tuesday for our first Alaskan cruise--can't wait! Retirement is awesome, I highly recommend it!! Sue

One Week Post Op, Drains Out and Feeling Great!

My last post was one day post surgery. The rest of the week went like others have reported--Day 3, slept most of the day; Day 4, kind of emotional; Day 5-7, felt like the drugs had finally cleared my system and felt pretty darn good. I did get quite tired of the post op bra (itching) and drains. Also, no naps for days 5-7 but I did sleep very well at night. I don't mind sleeping on my back. I could not wait for today!

POST OP APPT TODAY: My husband went with me, of course he had to drive. I had to bring my record of fluid collection from the drains. Doctor seemed pleased with it. He gave me my report and said that my right side which had ruptured and changed size and shape, and also had a hematoma, took longer than he had anticipated to remove. As it turned out, my left had also ruptured but that one came out fairly easy. He showed me the pics of the implants and the capsules removed. He felt he got 99.9 percent of the capsule out which is more than what he had previously thought he would. He said my stitches looked great and was pleased that I was doing so well. REVEAL OF BREASTS: I was kind of nervous but was pleasantly surprised at the tissue and they didn't really look too bad-considering what they had been through! I may be an A or very small B. I know they will continue to change but at my age, I am happy with small breasts.
DRAIN REMOVAL: My husband thought he wouldn't want to see so he waited outside lol. It really wasn't bad, I just felt a little pain at the stitches on the right side. He said to take a deep breath and they were out in a few seconds. The nurse did the left while he did the right at the same time. DOCTOR RECOMMENDATIONS UNTIL NEXT APPT: One more week of no driving and no excercise until next dr. appt. Arms still no higher than shoulder high-straight out to the side. Basically, if it hurts, don't do it. He also recommended sports bras x 6 months. My next appt is in 5 weeks. I gave him a hug before I left. Got home and had the most wonderful long shower with my new warm boobies--heavenly!!
**Pics to follow soon. Love and fast healing to you all! Sue
