2 weeks Post-Op

So it's been 2 weeks since my surgery, and I'm feeling great. The first few days were painful. I stopped taking my T3's by day 4, and then switched to Tylenol Extra Strength for a few days, now I don't need anything. I had my first post-op visit with my surgeon, and he said everything is healing very fast. I already went through the itchy phase, now I just sometimes have shooting pains, or my nipples will be hard for no reason, but I have feeling in both of them. Both breasts feel kinda hard, and my steri strips are starting to come off. Showering is now a lot easier, because my arms/ribs aren't sore.

I've included some pictures, green shirt and the black bra are before, and they really don't do justice of how big they actually were.

Hello from the other side! (1 Day Post-Op)

Wow. I can't believe I did it. Yesterday I had my breast reduction.

I had to be at the hospital at 9:30am. Registered at the front desk and with the O.R. nurse. Was suppose to be in at 11am but really didn't start till 12. I remember them putting the gas mask on me, and I was thinking "I'm not falling asleep!" then nothing. Wake up at 3pm in recovery. Vision was very blurred and I felt like barfing. They asked me my pain level on a scale 1-10. I said a 4. They gave me some nice medicine to take that away. They also put a cold facecloth on my forehead.

They wheeled me to the day surgery room, where my boyfriend could see me. In and out of sleep for 2 hours. Still felt like barfing a few times, but I didn't. By 5, I was more awake and the nurse took me to the bathroom. She had to do everything for me, which is kinda embarrassing, but by that point you don't really care. I asked her if I could have some water, and she gave me ice chips. You're throat will be very dry from the breathing tube.

Now, earlier in the day the O.R. Nurse asked me for my front closure wireless bra. I explained to her that the dr. office didn't say anything about me having to buy one. They performed a lollipop incision, so when I was leaving, they put the wire bra I came with, on me on the loosest hook and loosened the straps, but said to get the right bra ASAP which my boyfriend kindly picked up today. So everyone, make sure you confirm with the your Dr. about that part!

My instructions said to shower 24 hours after, which I just did. I was ok until I took the medical pads off me, and seen my nipples for the first time. Suddenly I got very warm and dizzy, so i sat down. After the shower, I had to put Vaseline around my nipples which again made me woozy. Just the gentle touch of my index finger was painful. The Tylenol 3's do help, but don't completely take care of the pain. Chest is generally sore with some shooting pains. Stomach is also bloated. Appetite picked up quickly.

The surgeon asked me about 3 times if I was sure I wanted this, because 90% of his cases are "mommy makeovers" and not young women. I was scared, but I wanted it and so far so good. Will post some pictures once I'm feeling more up to it! :)

Approved!!

Hi everyone!

I just got a call from my PS Patient Coordinator and I've been approved! My surgery date is January 26th at 11am, but have to be there at 9:30. She ran through some questions, like if i'm diabetic, take aspirin, etc. and she's going to mail me a booklet on how to take care of yourself post-op. (Hospital i'm having the surgery at is 2 hours away.) Also have to go to my local hospital for blood work. Now, she didn't say anything about a post-op bra? Does that mean I don't need one? Or perhaps the hospital provides one. Can any fellow Canadians answer this question?

I'm just a ball of emotions! Ahhh!
