The decision to have implants (Allergan Natrelle...

The decision to have implants (Allergan Natrelle 410 silicone/ anatomically shaped) was huge for me. But at age 71 I was just so tired of viewing the loss of my feminine identity everytime I stepped out of the shower and bent over to dry my feet! I didn't want much, just something that would help out in a manner similar to a facial filler (lol). The cost of these implants was substantially higher than what would have been the cost of saline or the more common silicone implant, but to me a very natural look was important. Dr. G made the final choice of volume during surgery for me - 290cc. (I am 5'4", 114#). This has taken me from an almost non-existent A cup to a modest C cup. I shyed away from General Anesthesia and went for the heavy sedation, and it worked well. I cannot say that I in any way suffered through any aspect of the experience, except for the surgical bra, which seemed to aggravate an old injury. Dr. G came to check me out the following morning at the local overnight care center, and I would have to say that I felt simply great! The CNAs at the center had pampered me with ice packs, yogurt, water and their company that entire night following the surgery. And, I was very fortunate not to have either pain or vomiting. After that (at home), soreness was clearly related to what I would call moderate swelling and once I was devoid of the surgical bra, was easily bearable without medication (Tylenol). However, getting up off the couch I was using the first week, did give me reminders that surgery had indeed been done. And the gurgling in the chest can be a little unnerving. Yet, even bruising was truly almost non-existent! I don't know if that was because I took as much Arnica as I did prior to surgery, or because of Dr. G's surgical skills, but it was certainly a morale booster. Nevertheless, two days later I experienced a fever of about 101 degrees and was very much comforted by having instant phone access to Dr. G. afterhours. 24 hours seemed to make short work of the fever. Although I can't say my body cared for the surgical bra much, that was a minor unforseen complication of a prior injury, and that is the worst I can really say about the entire experience! It is 3 weeks today, and I am happily impressed with the results. The sizing of the implants is a perfect fit to my proportions. I can either wear a bra or not wear one. The teardrop look is so natural. As said before, no bruising and at this point minimal swelling. They seem to have almost made it to their resting place where the surgical scar will be at the breast crease. And, yes, I have checked them out quite a few times as I bent over to dry my feet after showering, and they pass that test! Perhaps now I will find more where-with-all to age gracefully. Perhaps the most important thing I can say is that I am so thoroughly surprised at how truly non-stressful and absolutely non-debilitating the entire experience proved to be. The cost I listed does not inlude facility fees or anesthesia since I had a couple of other procedures done at the same time.

Dr. G. provided me the kindness and professionalism which is important to me. He did not overwhelm me with information, but always answered the questions I asked to my satisfaction. Rather than just agree to what I thought I wanted, he provided his opinion in a manner which encouraged me to give more thought to my ideas. He was very easily accessible both at the office and afterhours when needed. The package of total care was far beyond my imagination. There is a lot of follow up to ensure that everything is going right. Nice sense of humor too.
