So I have always had a large nose, which is genetically from my father side of the family. All my life I honestly didn’t pay much attention to it because I always felt like there is nothing I could really do about it so why even notice it. Finally at the age of 21, my mom’s friend said told her how I should get a nose job.
Being a first generation American in my family, my dad completely freaked out while my mother completely supported the idea. They thought once I had a nose job that would completely fix my entire face because I had a huge rhinoceros type nose.
In January 2014, I finally started looking for plastic surgeons because I had my whole family’s support. My father wasn’t thrilled but agreed to it. I saw a famous plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills asking for 13K. Then saw my family friends surgeon who was charging me 9K. I was about to book it with the family friend surgeon till my brother saw the review I saved of Dr. Elam back when I was searching for the top surgeons in Southern California on Realself.
They had a deal going on for rhinoplasty for a very low price and free consultation so I thought why not just see what he has to offer. Surprisingly, he was in the same building as surgeon I was going to book. Once I entered his office, everyone in the office was super nice and there was no wait time to see him, which was amazing.
Once I met Dr. Elam, he just looked at my face and knew exactly what he wanted to do. I did not even have to tell him what I wanted because he knew what needed to be done. After he Photoshoped the picture right in front of me and showed me what his plan was, I wanted to book my surgery date right away. Once I showed my mom the before and after pictures, she completely convinced my father to let me do it.
FYI: He is the only surgeon I have met that photoshoped picture themselves and lets you take it home as well…I have seen surgeons that either just draw what they want to do or get someone else to Photoshop it.
Anyways finally booked my surgery day after I graduate from college and went n for my pre-op apt to pick up medications and do blood work. They give you a super cute bag with all the essentials and theses LIFE SAVING ICE EYE PACKS!!! I am not kidding you how great they feel after surgery.
On September 8, 2014 and I go in for surgery in his office. I honestly feel asleep right away and once I woke up all I wanted was water. I did not feel any pain at all because the medications were amazing. My first night wasn’t bad all just liquid diet and pain meds.
My post-op with Dr.Elam was amazing. He saw me the next day after surgery and a few more days in the week just to clean up my nose and make sure I am doing fine. The most pain I felt was a 4 out of 10 and that’s because my norco was wearing off.
Now it has been 5 months since post-op and I feel great. It was a life a changing surgery because my nose is perfect. It is still a little swollen at the tip because it does take 1 year for full results. Dr. Elam is one of the best and sweetest surgeons I have ever met. All the ladies in his office are super kind and really do care about their patients. Dr. Elam even removed my ugly mole for free, while other surgeons were charging me $800-$1000 for it. He does not care about the money, but honestly cares about making his patients look good and feel good.
My advice for people that are in the middle of deciding if they want to get rhinoplasty or not….just do it with Dr. Elam. Him and his staff will take care you as if you are part of the family. His post-ops are amazing because seriously going to him the next day after surgery just to clean my nose out felt so good. No other surgeon offers that much care like Dr. Elam.
