I decided to go in for a consultation on a whim....

I decided to go in for a consultation on a whim. I, like others, did my research on the pacific center website. I read everything about the surgery I wanted. I asked for a consultation and the next day I received a call they had an opening that day around the time I was available. (I have a very busy schedule so it was a now or never sort of thing. So I was super excited they had something at one of my down times) I went into my consultation knowing If I was serious about doing this I needed to get my surgery done within two weeks because the healing time is six weeks. ( I am also in school to be a surgical tech and I head out to clinicals in November so I needed to be healed by then) I went to my consultation with Stephanie ( who is a very lovely lady and explained everything. She was super nice and caring) it just so happened that they had a cancelation and had an available surgery slot for the following Friday the 19th (My consultation was on Friday the 12th) So this was it; it was now or never. I took the surgery slot and got my quote. Met Dr. Horowitz who offered to remove a beauty mark for me as well. I couldn't believe I was actually going to do this! I was excited and it felt very surreal. I had a pre op appt on Tuesday the 16th with Kirsten and she was friendly and explained all pre op to me and gave me this cute little kit with hydrogen peroxide, Anita pills and other items. Then it was day of surgery time; I had to arrive at the surgery center 6:30 am. First I met, Carly the surgical tech/assistant; she did some last little paperwork with me and introduced me to the nurse who got me in my bed ready to go. Next was Dr.Thomas the anesthesiologist he was amazing. He's great at explaining everything; from the steps up to surgery and even after. He reminded me of Dane Cook; he was funny and made me feel very comfortable. I was given meds through an IV and rolled into the OR then sleep from there. I woke up from surgery and just felt chest pain and very groggy from the anesthesia. My surgery started at 0715 and ended at 0815, I was released no later than 0900. I took my first round of meds in the car ride home with a couple bites of graham cracker and water. I got home and just wanted to sleep the chest pain off. The first day was a little tough to lift my arms cause of the chest pain but I managed with assistance. I mostly slept all day but still got up and walked from the room to living room to eat (we thought I wouldn't be able to but soup and bread never tasted so good) I kept up on my meds which my mom helped tremendously by writing the times down so we never were behind or missed a dose. I tried to stay as active as possible and whenever I felt tired I went to bed. Day two was better I was more able to do stuff on my own but still had a little assistance here and there. Same thing as day one I kept up on my meds and had more of an appetite. By day three I didn't need assistance in simple tasks. By day four I stopped taking my meds and only took some when I felt I needed it. Day four I also had to attend school all day and did that just fine. I had another student drive me so I could take meds if I needed. Needless to say; surgery went exceptionally well, the staff at pacific center is amazing and friendly( they had a medical assistant who was interning and she was extraordinary she was friendly and personable), Dr.Horowitz is an exceptional doctor, and the pain wasn't so bad once you get through the first few days. I just recommend keeping up on your meds and you will be just fine! Sorry my review was so long I just want whoever reads this to know exactly what they are getting into and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask me :)
