Dont like undergoing anesthesia any more than I have to. Smartlipo seems less invasive and with less potential side effects. Need abdomen and sides done. These are "before" pics of course. At least one should hope they are!

So far really disappointed.

Updated on 1 Jun 2011:
3 weeks now and the results aren't great. Yes, there is improvement but I am disappointed thus far. I am still sore, numb and have a lot of seroma lumps all over. I will have to wait and see. New pics following.

Updated on 20 Aug 2011:
Four months post lipo and the results dont look much different than in the first month. I still have some granularization (lumps under skin)and some slightly sensitive spots. I am the exact same weight and I am wearing the same clothes. They are only the slightest bit looser. While I was told at 6 months we could determine if I needed a "touch up", so to speak, I have decided the recovery was too long and difficult for me to repeat it even if it is a lesser procedure than the first. It may just be my body. The minor amount of difference I notice was not worth the discomfort, results or money involved.

My rating:

Dr. and his staff were friendly and professional. i felt very comfotable with them and they took good care of me. When I experienced pain he responded to it immediately and did not dismiss my discomfort. I am not happy with the results thus far but I still have to give it time. Considering the 8 pounds of fat he removed and how evenly I think he did so, I dont blame the lack of results on his skill but more my body. Swelling may still be too significant to see good results. I would certainly use this office again for other procedures.

I found you!! I can't believe how much our tummies look alike!
rock1 1 May 2011
OMG!!!!!! Thats looks so painful!!! So hwo are you feeling now? I have been away for a few days so I just logged on tonight. My husband nearly fell of his seat looking at the pics. He said it looks way too painful. I told him he may be happy with his body but I am not and I am still going Tuesday to talk to the doctor. Considering my other health issues he insisted I go to my primary MD to get an okay before I go through with it though and I agreed I would. I expect the swelling is worse now than when the pics were done? How about the pain level? Its hard to get an idea of what that area just tot he sides of the stomach look like because fo the shadowing adn bruising. I do hope you are feeling pretty good. I'll watch for an update from you.

Hello, I am feeling fine. I think the bruising makes it look worse than it is. I bruise really easy. I am still leaking from the lower abdomen hole and the right side hole. He wasn't able to suction out all the remaining fluid so it is slowly coming out on its own. I am pretty happy with the upper part it is the lower area that is bothering me because it is really loose. I am hoping over time and the loss of the extra fluid will make a difference. I will try to post more pictures in a little bit. I will try to make them a little more clear. Definitely get your MD okay and definitely get a plastic surgeon.

I am so glad to hear you are feeling well. Yes, loose skin, a lot fo it was certainly a concern of mine. I have seem enough photos of people who have lost a considerable amount of weght to see how they often get so much loose skin it is unsightly and they end up having to have it removed. I might still prefer it over the present situation though. I have read that tightening (and swelling) does continue for many weeks so I am sure you are no where near your final result anyway. I will watch for those pics.

Welcome to RealSelf! Looking forward to following your Smart Lipo journey. :)

Do you have a date scheduled yet?

rock1 3 May 2011
Thanks Sharon. I went to the doctor today. I am scheduled for next Wednesday. Cost $6,000. He thinks I may have a problem with loose sagging skin on my lower abdomen that may need to be fixed surgically if am unhappy with it but he will wait at least 6 months for me to determine if I want or need to do that.I am using Dr. El-Attar in Hamilton. Derma Laser Center. His credentials were good and both he and his staff were very pleasant and helpful thus far.

Hi Rock,
Glad you had your consult. The Dr. said he thought the skin would tighten up some? I so hope mine tightens up some more. I am happy though, my pants are falling off!
rock1 8 May 2011
I am scheduled for Wednesday and I am a little apprehensive since I signed the waiver and the risk of fat embolism jumped out at me. I know the risks associated with this are quite minimal but I worry anyway. I have been taking the Bromelain, eating pineapple everyday and not drinking anywhere near enough water, which I better catch up on. I have been so busy and the more I drink the more i have to stop to pee!! The Dr. s providing the compression garements and whatever else I need so I dont have to worry about that. I have to take antibiotics starting the day before as a precaution. I have a few rubber backed, fuzzy bath rugs I bought to put over the bed for leakage. I thought they might be more comfortable than just a pad. I am precooking several meals so that is out of the way. I put a stack of beach towels and pads aside for use and hung up a few loose outfits with button down shirts. I won't have anyone with me the day of or at home with me for a few days after. I tend to plan in advance, just in case I really can't move around well for a couple of days. Now, if the 3 dogs can let themselves in and out and the kids can get themselves out the door in the morning without my constant assistance I won't have to move much for 48 hours. Yeah right.

It sounds like you're as ready as you can be. Not long now! I'll send happy thoughts your way on Wednesday. :)

Hi Rock,
How are your preparations going? I go for my follow-up tomorrow. All is going well, I am pretty happy with results. I am hoping for a little more tightening on the bottom half through time and exercise. Can't wait to see your results!
rock1 10 May 2011
I'm nervous, not about the procedure but of any complications afterwards. I start to second guess myself when it is something elective as opposed to a doctored ordered procedure. I will be alone everyday intil 4:00 so I have organized the best I could to work with that.Told my usband he shoudl at least call and check on me and if he doesn't get an answer, then worry. lol A friend or two will text me during the day to just to check on me. I have to start takng the Levaquin today and antibiotics and my bad stomach don't mix well. I could have some real stomach pain in addition to the effects of the procedure. My Dr. did a hemglobin level last week and since I have not heard anything from him I assume it was fine. I got optimistic and started looking at bathing suits onlne the other day. haha Maybe a short skirt bottom to cover the loose skin but a bikini top instead of a long top this year? I'll post within a day or two of the procedure. I want to see your new pics soon!
Dayton5626 10 May 2011
I just had my follow-up. He said everything is going well and that the bottom should tighten up more so I was very happy to hear that. He thought I had made great progress so far. I will post some new pictures later so you can see them tonight. I wish you the best of luck tomorrow and you will be in my thoughts all day! Can't wait to hear from you.
rock1 10 May 2011
I might ask the Dr. if he is able to do something about the mon pubis area as well since you mentioned the "Ken doll syndrome", and I know what you mean.
rock1 12 May 2011
t's 24 horus post-op now. feeling sore but can move around fine. Did feel like I was hit by a truck for abotu 6 hours after the procedure. The doctor wrapped me in adhesive foam and then put on the compression garment so i wont be able to see the results until next Tuesday at my follow up. The suit cant come off until then so only sponge baths. AHHHHHH!!!! It is slit up the middle. Crotchless yet still unattractive. lol The procedure was awful. Pain, pain, more pain. Not the entire thing of course but portions of it. Even the laser felt as if it was burning my skin in certain areas and lipo around the belly button was painful. I havent needed to take anything for pain, its more sore than painful and I am still feeling kind of weak and tired. I will post updates and certainly will post pics next week when they unwrap me. UPS doesn't do this good a job on pacakges.
Dayton5626 13 May 2011
Hi Rock,
I hope you are doing well! I think you will have great results if you are going to be constantly compressed. I find that I cheat some in this area because it is so uncomfortable. Can't wait to see your pictures next week!!
Farz 19 May 2011
I would demand your doc to redo you with no additional costs. There is hardly any difference here!
Farz 19 May 2011
just noticed your only day 7. Maybe its swelling that will go down with a little time? If not, then whatever I said before.
rock1 19 May 2011
I have always had a tendency to retain water, I cross my legs and always leave an indent in my skin. I am going to try to use moist heat on my stomach and hope that it will help bring any swelling or water retention down. I am just really disgusted at this point. With my compression garment on my jeans only button slightly easier than before all this pain and money. My husband tells me to give it a little time. Friends tell me they can't understand why I did it since they don't see any difference, except that I now can't sit, walk or move wihtout discomfort. Many reviews I read say that redoing an area is not necessarily a wise move. I may have to read more on that if this doesn't improve over the next few weeks. I look at Beavercreeks before and after compared to mine and I get depressed. We started out looking very similar but our after pictures are a world apart. She looks great.
Farz 20 May 2011
The thing is rock, is it really fat there or loose skin and/or seperation of abdominal muscles? From your day 7 pic it does look like you do have a lot of stretched skin. If this is the case, then even if you get a redone, the results wont be much different than now . .
rock1 20 May 2011
Hey farz,
Loose skin should just hang, which I had anticipated. My stomach is hard and rounded off. I can't even grasp that much skin. Aside from that, shouldn't I be flatter even if the skin hung on top of it? i shoudl be able to fit into my pants even if I had loose skin? I just got dressed to leave for a weekend trip and I can't breath in my clothes with the garment under them. They are tighter now than a week ago. I guess I can't wear sweatpants to meet people for dinner huh? I wish. My wieght is also exactly the same also. I am still hoping this will flatten out. I could not find any pics of anyone with reuslts like mine and some were bigger at the start.
Dayton5626 20 May 2011
Rock, what did the Dr say when you were unwrapped? I am wondering if it is just excess swelling. I ended up having Vaser Lipo versus Smart Lipo so maybe there is a difference in the procedures and how it looks at first? I hope that you have a nice weekend trip and you can relax a little.
Farz 20 May 2011
Hey Rock. . do you think its swelling? About a week after my lipo (luv handles) it got really hard and big, which lasted up to 2 1/2 weeks and then it started to come down slowly. Oh, I dont know what the weather is like down there but why not try a dress instead of pants for dinner. Hmmm. I'm just searching this site trying to figure out which type of lipo I need on my back area . . .
MissUndaztood 5 Jun 2011
Your 7 day and 3 week pics look dramatically different as far as your lower tummy goes. You should definitely just wait a while longer and see how it goes. I am at about 2.5 weeks after slim lipo and i don't see any results yet. I'm trying to remain optimistic but it can be so hard after reading some of the people on here who were 100% improved the following day - they suck!!! Anyway, hang in there.
jess789 22 Aug 2011
I'm so with you MissUndazstood, there is a difference between your day 7 and your 3wk pictures..with constant exercise you will notice an even bigger change in months. Hang in there! hope you are feeling well!
rock1 11 Jun 2011
I am at week four now and I wont even bother posting a pic because I see no further change. I am still fairly sore, still wearing the compression garment half the time now and still have mutliple seroma areas. The skin itches and it is still uncomfortable to wear clothes, bend over to tie my shoes or even sleep. I am still massaging daily. The roll on the lower gut is still there also. My clothes dont fit much differntly than before. how much time do I have to give this? I am soooooo disappointed I can't begin to describe it. I go back to the doctor this week. I am sure he is going to say, give it more time, but I am thoroughly disappointed.
Rock
