12 days post op....

Hey y'all...hope everyone is doing great!. I am off and on dehydrated. I am doing things right and am still learning. I have learned the difference in feeling full, hungry and pain. Get full fast :), I have hunger grumbles, which I thought would not exist anymore and the pain is from the muscles which were cut. I see the Dr. next week for my first follow up. I have been staying low key, avoiding friends as I am still not sure of reactions and still am emotional about my surgery. I am sure this is all normal and is part of my learning process. I love reading all the posts about others adventures. Stay positive for those who are waiting, stay strong for those in recovery and blessings to all who are reading this.

Oh my...

Day 6 post op. Probably had the worst past few days. I am dehydrated and am so sleepy! I am doing my best to sip on my water all day, sip on a shake all day and I have stopped taking my pain meds. I have been able to use my popsicles to help with fluids. I haven't figured out the pain, gas, tightness and full feeling yet. It's a bit all mixed together. :) I have been way too active and I need to remember I did just have surgery. I'm down 20lbs as of today. I am thankful for the opportunity to feel this and keep in site that this is a new journey of learning and rediscovering my body again. Blessings to all who read this. PS..I didn't have a drain port, blood thinner shots and now I just need to know when it's okay to drive. Getting crazy in here!!!

Day 3....

Hey y'all. What an adventure! On Thursday I had my surgery. It was "perfect" per my dr. I had a hernia that was fixed and my sleeve was "textbook". I had minimal pain, felt more pain in my throat and head. It was if I had been doing three weeks of straight ab crunches. Had a few stiches due to having to cut some muscle. :) My dr reported my liver was in perfect condition and he could not be more pleased with the procedure. I didn't sleep at all at the hospital, had an amazing staff to care for me. I was dc'd at 11am Friday morning. I will tell you, move around as much as you can while in the hospital. I got up every 30-45 min to use the bathroom and actually walked the floor at 5am. Everyone will be different and I am so happy with my progress. When I got home, few family and my bestie came to visist. I took my pain meds every 4hrs and slept about 3.5 hrs at a time. Sipped on an EAS shake all day, made sure I had water and just took it easy. Today I got up about 5am and have little pain today. I am hungry, but I am going to start the same routine today. Protein shake and water. I did start back my daily multi vitiamin, Women's Alive gummies. I hope to continue to share my progress after surgery, not the weight loss as number one but my overall emotional health as well. Best of luck to you who are still waiting and Blessings to all who read this.

I had the best Dr. and surgery experience. Dr. Westmoreland has amazing bed side manners, is postive and an amazing Christian man who prayed before and after my surgery. I would highly suggest Dr. Westmoreland and his staff to anyone interested in gastric surgery.
