I started thinking about this long before I had it...

I started thinking about this long before I had it done. I had loss a serious 88 lbs and my chest had turned into two tube socks with oranges in the bottom that ended below my belly button. When I leaned over to work, tie my shoes my chest would slide out of my bra and it was very uncomfortable, not to mention not visually appealing. I was very apprehensive about the procedure to begin with. What if I didn't heal properly, what if I didn't look right, what about the pain, what about, what about...I had a million what if's.
The final moment that made up my mind was when I was rebuilding my deck. Trying to cut boards with the saw everytime I bent over my boobs would slide out, plump together and I'd have to stand up and tuck them back in. The heck with this, I started researching doctors and friends who had the procedure done.
I talked with many girlfriends and saw their work. It wasn't difficult to weed out who wouldn't be doing the job. I finally had received Dr. Lista's name on two different occasions. I saw his work and it was very satisfactory.
In January of 2013 I made the appointment with the Plastic Surgery Clinic/Dr. Lista's office and was given an appointment shortly thereafter. My appointment was booked for March 24th four days after 43 birthday. This would be happy birthday to me.
As the days built up towards the procedure I was given a strict set of instructions. I had to quit smoking at least a month before the operation. My last day of smoking was February 24th, and I never looked back. If was going to spend 10G on this I wanted the best possible outcome. I received my information package by email about two weeks prior to my procedure listing exactly what I needed to do and when. The staff at the office were very professional. I know I had a couple of issues with why I had to take this protein supplement prior to having the lift and augmentation. I was very worried about gaining back the weight or even some of the weight and they explained because of the amount of weight I had lost. Like a good girl I complied and since then lost the weight. Combined with quitting smoking and taking the extra protein I gained 30 lbs. I have since lost it.
The day before the surgery I booked into my hotel close to the clinic. I got up in the morning groggy and excited. Today was going to be the day!! My bf drove me to PSC (Plastic Surgery Clinic) for 7am. I was immediately put into a little room and changed into my new cotton pj bottoms, gown and put under a nice heating blanket. The nurse took my vitals and asked a bunch of questions about when I last ate, drank etc. She gave me a cocktail of meds to help me relax and then I was left to wait again. The anesthiologist came in and reviewed my file then Dr. Lista came in with his associate and marked up my chest with a bunch of lines for directions. Ten minutes later I was in the operating room ready to go.
I woke up four hours later with lots of padding on my chest. No pain, just groggy. Shortly thereafter I was released to spend the night at the hotel for one more night. I needed to be back at the clinic for 8am the next day. The rest of the day after surgery was a blur. I had a pain pump dispensing a narcotic to help with the pain. Along with the other pain meds I just slept. The next morning the bf helped load me in the truck and we went to the clinic. I was helped into the private entrance of the small hospital by the nurse and she removed the padding from my chest and the tubes for the pain pump. I was apprehensive about looking at my chest. This was going to be my first viewing. OMG, they were beautiful, even in their swollen, bruised state. After the procedure I was put into a special bra that was to become my best friend for the next four weeks. The ride home was interesting. Two hours...bumpy country roads. Thank God, I was well medicated, lol. It was bearable and I was very happy to get home into my bed.
I had to be back at the clinic ten days later for a checkup, then two weeks, two weeks after that. Eight weeks post op. Now in November I will have what I think is my last appointment. I was fortunate that with one week of the operation all of the incisions had healed and I was able to start applying the scar tape the clinic had suggested. I had a small issue with a stitch that came through the skin. It healed on it's own in a very short time.
Given the directions from the nurses at the clinic I was bullheaded and figured they were talking fooey about some of the things they wanted me to do. How to eat, supplements to take, no smoking...I am happy I followed their directions.
The pain during the whole procedure is bearable. I had worse pain giving birth to my daughter that many years ago. I am very pleased with my procedure. Dr. Lista did an amazing job on my chest and I would definitely not change a thing. His clinic is very professional, clean, and they'll go beyond their call of duty to make sure your questions are answered and that you are comfortable. Thankyou Dr. Lista, and your staff.
