7mo Post Op Tummy Tuck

Coming back and reading my original post reminds me how many emotions (fear, sadness, anticipation, anxiety) are really involved in any kind of surgery. But what is needed most of all is faith in your doctor, hope that you will be realistic with expectations, AND PATIENCE! I admit, I did not do much research prior to surgery and therefore was very unrealistic about many things such as, the amount of time it took to recover, and really see the results instead of worrying that I made a poor decision. I honestly did not feel 75% until about 3 months after surgery and now at 7mo, I feel about 90%. There is still some tugging feelings when I do certain exercises. And although there is no pain, or anything to worry about, it just feels a little strange. Also, there is still some numbness and tingling when I press on certain parts of the incision.

I am able to sleep in any position, without pain, I can exercise completely, and all that horrible swelling is a thing of the past (that took a long time too). There is some puffiness on the edges of my scars, which my doc says can be fixed quite easily if I choose. But what astonished me the most was at my 3 mo follow up visit, they showed me the before and after photos and I realized how crazy my expectations were, but how incredibly happy I am to have done the procedure. Of course I wanted to look like I was 19 again without any stretch marks or scars (unrealistic). But the goal for both me and the doc was to remove the fatty pouch that hung over my prior C-Section scar. I had pretty good muscle tone but just could never quite shake that pouch, thus why a mini tummy tuck was performed. I know my body enough to know that it scars terribly so I was not even worried about scars showing, but the flatness was what I was really wanting and that is exactly what I got.

My doctor made the decision prior to the surgery to also align my belly button so it would not be disproportionate from the stretching of the tummy. So, I have a kind of upside-down T shape scar. But like I said, the scaring was expected on my end and I am so delighted with the flatness of my tummy now. When I got out of the funk of how LONG the recovery was and saw the before and after pics I can say for sure that my doc did exactly what he and I discussed. He and his staff were wonderful to me during my concerned calls and follow up visits. I would highly recommend Dr. Singhal in Kansas City, MO.

I am at exactly the two week date from my surgery....

I am at exactly the two week date from my surgery. The first week was a blur filled with measuring my drain output to pain killers. I am now out of pain meds and have a few questions/concerns.
1. touching my stomach makes me very nauseated. I have always been this way about any kind of injury but it is really having a bad effect because I am supposed to start massaging my belly this week. Anyone else have this problem? I honestly feel like I will have to be knocked out to allow any touching of my body. It is all I can do to shower and run liquid soap along my belly.
2. when I think about my scar and that nauseated feeling my entire body gets really sore like how your skin feels when you have a really bad flu? Anyone else have that? Someone reached over to touch my side and I nearly decked them because it hurt so bad.
3. the lower part of my stomach is very HARD, is this normal?
4. I can't sleep on my back, so I sleep on my side (which is not easy due to the pulling I feel), but it is sooooooooo painful to my hips - I have yet to have a good nights rest since off the pain meds. Any suggestions? Benadryl? Again that sore feeling like bedsores or the flu take over when I lay anywhere for longer than a few minutes.
5. why did I do this, I am so mad at myself. I am a tiny person, always have been but had a small pouch from C-sections and some bit of old age creeping in (not as tight) even tho active. How do you get past the depression?
6. OH YEAH - I had to go out and buy 3 moo moo's because none of my clothes fit due to swelling, would have been nice to know that!
7. My back hurts from walking hunched over, when will this stop? At the age of 46 I fear I am doing more damage to my back than this whole deal was worth.
8. I am going out of my mind
