Thanks for starting your story on RealSelf! I wonder if that incision means it will be a closed rhinoplasty? Here's what some doctors have to say about rhinoplasty incisions. Keep us posted and please let us know how you're feeling as the big day nears.

Hey, there. I don't know much about the lip thing, but I'm sure you'll be able to find good information on this site. Did you look around for the opinion of other doctors to see what they would recommend the best for your nose? I hope you the best of luck in your surgery. You're a pretty girl and I'm sure you'll be even prettier with your new nose. :)

Awh thank you it means alot! Xo
Sorry, but just to clarify... yes, I agree that your upper lip is very short. Definition of upper lip: distance from top lip to base of nose. But, I disagree that cutting the inside of the lip is the solution. If you google "can rhinoplasty lengthen upper lip" will you probably find the answer right here on this website... that lifting the columella and shortening the nose through traditional rhinoplasty will lengthen the upper lip. Sorry for scaring you, or writing so much. I didn't mean to! It's just that seeing someone so young and pretty like you be told something that to me sounds off... just makes me feel protective somehow. Be careful, and good luck!

My surgery is 2 days after you :) I hope it goes really well for you. Drink pineapple juice ( has bromelain) and ice with frozen peas in plastic gloves every 15 minsafter surgery it should help with swelling. And take arnica :)

should i drink pineapple before the surgery as well? and whats a good brand of pineapple juice?
Yes definitely. It is recommended to take bromelain 3 days prior to surgery so drinking it will be good! any brand that is 100% pineapple juice is good. ones with added sugar will not be as pure and most people don't realize this but sugar causes swelling as does sodium. You could also put some chunks in a blender, perhaps a bit of water and blend it into a juice that way it is super fresh and has fibre which will be important after all the painkillers and anethesthetic! But can understand if that's a bit too much effort :D

So I just finished my surgery yesterday, it wasnt that bad. The IV shot didn't hurt at all, I was very sleepy when they put the anestigia in and I woke up bruised and threw up a fountain cup of blood, after I threw up I felt so much better! It's been the second day and only my eyes are bruised and swollen and so is my nose! But is my nose suppose to look cricket?!? Because in scared I feel one nostril is bigger then the other one, and I have blood stuck inside my nose and I cannot get it out, any suggestions?

Is it normal that my nose is clogged up with blood? I can't seem to clean it because is really hard and I feel like j tugged on my stitches, and I won't beble to add my doc on Monday.

I have my nostrils clogged up with blood it's very normal just don't prod inside your nose as it needs to heal. Your swelling can make your nose look more crooked. One side might have had more work done and swollen a bit more. I wouldn't worry about it just ask your surgeon about it next time u see him if u need reassuring

Yep its normal. Be very careful you don't want to pull any stiches out. You can clean out everything around but not so much inside the nose. Until your surgeon removes your stitches you have to suffer and breath through your mouth.

It has been 6 days since my surgery. these past 2 days ihave been sleeping like a butterfly, my brusies went away but around my eyes its green and yellow. i have been in bed these past 6 weeks and let me tell you it is uncomftorable, i have been taking my meds 3 times a day, my lips are still swollen and are quite chapped, and i just cannot wait to get my cast off monday! but im just nervous of the pain.

Getting your cast of doesn't hurt. Your surgeon palpating your nose after your cast is off hurts, also if he applies tape on it afterwards - that hurts also. But it's not horrible pain, just a some discomfort, no need to be scared. This is what happens when cast comes off: your doctor will take a cotton swab and dip it in some cream to make it greasy and then gently use it to detach the cast from your face. He will then clean the skin on your nose with alcohol or other antibacterial substance. He will then palpate your nose and (if needed) he will apply tape (which compresses your nose to speed up the de-swelling process). Your nose will be sensitive for some time (I remember I felt it on my face for about a month) but it's part of the process. Good luck and I hope you'll be satisfied with your results. Just remember, it takes a long time to heal and to see the final results, so be patient and relax.

I think it's way too soon to judge what your nose looks like, because you're still only 2 weeks out. Rhinoplasties take months to heal, and most people find that they start to see their true results anywhere from 1-6 months. Sometimes, the tip can still be swollen up to a year. From all the reviews I've read, and from my own experience, everyone's front seems to look less than favourable for the first few months - only the luckiest of the lucky have awesome noses from the front within their first few months post-op. That's because the tip is the most swollen and the last part of the nose for the swelling to go down, and when we look at ourselves straight on, the tip is the main thing that we see. I'm almost 6 days post-op and my tip is really round and swollen, and I can only imagine what it'll look like when the cast comes off and the swelling increases again. Please just trust me when I say that you aren't alone - not in how you feel, and not in how you look. Almost every review (with pictures) that I've ever seen, 9 out of 10 noses look exactly like yours at this stage. Don't worry, it'll get better over the next few months. :)

This just made me feel a wholeot better thanksso much
Your profile photo looks great! I would have thought that your nose is still quite swollen. Have you spoken to your surgeon? Maybe try the Ask a Surgeon section to see what they think? Many others on RS who have posted photos while they're still swollen and a lot look like yours does now, some of them look worse, but they usually turn out amazing

It's almost been three weeks and my nose has turned out so much better at first I didn't like it at all and I think it was the swelling that made it look so bad but ever since these past couple of days I have been lovin it!!! He did a really good job on it it's been almost 3 weeks and everything still seems fine but I still have bruises under my eyes

Hey I went by Dr Brandes too Im on Day 3 right now and not much brusing or swelling just cant breathe through the nose and uncomfortable as well as some blood in the nose not pouring out or anything. But I cant wait till this is over. Can you post some pics of you now? You look great in that last pic looking to the side.

second surgery

Just did a second surgery, had scar tissue removed, made the nose narrow, and lifted it up a little more.

I think your nose looks great from the side. Do you have any after photos from the front? Wondering because I have a similar nose and nostrils.

I'm also interested to know where the scar tissue was. I don't know anything about the revision procedure for this, but my surgeon and his staff did warn me that this might be a potential complication of uneven swelling. Hope you are doing well and have a speedy recovery!
